1. .sql is a just an extension for the sql script (it can be stored procedures/function/tables etc) 2. You can have a stored proc querying multiple db's in the same server using [DbName].[schemaname].[tablename] or other servers using linked servers 3. Yes (i think upto 32 levels) 4. Java has inbuilt classes that allow you to connect to databases by opening a connection and allows you to execute stored procedure or standard queries and return results as datasets etc.
