For anyone who hasn't read Hellboy - do not go from the early years straight to Hellboy In Hell as this video suggests. You'll miss the entire leadup and sheer weight of Hellboy in Hell, don't skip those Duncan Fegredo years, the art is still amazing and Darkness Calls, Wild Hunt, The Storm and The Fury are not optional reading if you want the full picture and have Hellboy In Hell actually make sense and mean something.

There’s a lot of references and appearances of characters from the “Short Stories”, these are little episodes of Hellboy either created by Mignola himself or another artist he collaborated with. So I would recommend picking up both Vol. 1 & 2 of Hellboy short stories, because (no spoilers) some of these characters are detrimental to the overarching story and may leave you shaking your head if you didn’t know who they were. I hope that helped lol

I've been waiting for this for a long time! Insane that you guys never got to this. You should totally cover the Darkness Calls ~ Storm and Fury storyline that the new movie is being based on, there's honestly so much more characters you can get into the history of instead of always doing DC or Marvel characters.
I just finished B.P.R.D.:The Devil You Know, which was his ultimate story ending. Equal parts depressing yet fulfilling. Never read a comic book story that lets you actually follow a character all the way until their true end. They always get rebooted, restarted, brought by other companies, etc.,etc. I love the story and character, and have never had a fictional character leave such an impression on me.
My reading recommendation for Hellboy: All of it lol But seriously, I usually recommend people read The Wolves of Saint August before any other story, mostly because I feel that story is both short enough to keep people interested and still have everything that one can expect from Hellboy

They were summoned into a world known as The Forgotten Realm, a challenge for them to team up & fight Monsters & Use their Teamwork moves to Defeat whoever summoned them and Return to their respective dimensions!

There was a few things mentioned that are exclusive to the Del Toro movies like his relationship with Liz and his gun being the Good Samaritan. No mention of Alice Monoghan either and the mind of a teenager/young adult thing is just BS from the Del Toro movies. Mignola was somewhat inspired by his Dad and the stories he'd hear him tell at work when he'd come home, smoke a cigar and have his drink of choice. So I wouldn't say he has the mentality of a teenager. Also his name is only spelled Bruttenholm, it's always pronounced Broom.
A low level demon in the abyss with a bloodline magic if fire the durability, strength healing factor is common for demon who attain low level power ie; some demon can be born low level (Hellboy) and some have to train to get there (fight and devour). The arm of doom is a high level abyssal treasure that's why the rest of the demons where made sealing his father in ice ( bloodline fire demon ice demon counters).

Mignola was somewhat inspired by his Dad and the stories he'd hear him tell at work when he'd come home, smoke a cigar and have his drink of choice. So I wouldn't say he has the mentality of a teenager. Also his name is only spelled Bruttenholm, it's always pronounced Broom.

A low level demon in the abyss with a bloodline magic if fire the durability, strength healing factor is common for demon who attain low level power ie; some demon can be born low level (Hellboy) and some have to train to get there (fight and devour). The arm of doom is a high level abyssal treasure that's why the rest of the demons where made sealing his father in ice ( bloodline fire demon ice demon counters).
