The Giovanola grip has proven for more than 70 years to be entirely safe, heck it's BETTER than a modern grip as it's cleverly designed to have more clamping force on the rope when more weight is put on it, hence why it is a "Gravity Grip", AND it has a locking system so it can't be opened when it's on the rope. Authorities are the sole reason why we can't have interesting things. The authorities always intefere and they predatorize any good and interesting ski lift that they see, and they replace it with their essential-only boring bullshit. I'm very grateful on the other hand that Hannig is preserved and I hope to salvage the entire lift when it ever either gets abandoned or replaced. Germany and France aren't so bad at all and Germany is NOTHING in comparison to the other 3 in terms of ski lift laws. In Germany there are still many 1950's, 1960's and 1970's ski lifts and pretty much ski lifts of ALL centuries from the late 1800's and the 1920's up til the present time. In fact: there's more old than modern ropeways in Germany, they are such champions at preserving tradition, which thankfully, they are obsessed with, and rightfully so they are. France is sadly regulated by nazis too, but they aren't as Nazi-Like as Switzerland and Austria because there are still several 1960's and 1970's ski lifts there. Some 1930's and 1940's and 1950's lifts remain there too and they are just a handful of lucky survivors. But yeah. France, Switzerland and Austria are full of authoritarian predators while Germany is not.
