6pdrs were modified to be loaded into a glider, which also made the jeep towable.
1 glider had gun
1 glider had tow
1 glider had extra ammunition
Thanks for the info.
@@ModellingforAdvantage no problem. Arnhem was what got me into BA.
John Baskeyfield won a posthumous VC using a 6pdr Anti-tank gun at the battle of Arnhem knocking out several tanks. He was a Lance-Sgt in the South Staffordshires, part of the Airlanding brigade, they had 6pdr Anti-tank and the light 75mm American Howitzer amongst their equipment.
Yeah, I had a feeling there was something about 6 pdrs - but couldn't quite place it.
I've got all of this already by buying it separately over a couple of months last year, but this does look like excellent value for money. They remain on my pile of opportunity right now, their time will come! Great unboxing vid, thanks.
I have a feelinng that is exactly where they will stay for Jonny B too...
I've looked at this kit a few times really great review and unboxing
Thanks for watching!
Not all the jeeps were wrecked. The 'special' jeeps with the twin machine guns were ambushed en-route to the bridge iirc.
I seem to recall Maj. Hibbert (I think that was his name) I think he was called talking about them having problems after the 6pdr ammo ran out at the bridge.
Been eyeing this kit for a while..thanks for the wonderful review dudes 👍
Our pleasure!
Great unboxing as always Kaiser/Johnny B. There was definitely at least four 6 pounders at Arnhem 😁👍🏻. Flamethrowers are bullet magnets 🤣
IN game and IRL that one.
@@ModellingforAdvantage definitely 😊
Painting the Denison Smock camo is going to be 'fun' :)
Jonny B has had a go at some already - they came out alright.
Great unboxing! Seems to be on par with the US Airborne one, just infantry. Nothing wrong with that. This is a fanstastic starter.
Totally agree. Great kit.
Attempts to fire a captured Japanese 'knee' mortar by bracing it against the knee resulted in a broken leg, apparently. The strange scoop shaped base was for jamming it into the ground.
Yeah doesn't seem smart to me.
IIRC the 2" mortar was a platoon level weapon with the PIAT.
Indeed.
Fun video! Thanks for reviewing the kit
Thanks for watching!
Great video👍. I know what you mean about templates potentially adversely effecting team weapons on diorama bases. But to be fair the guys have to be within 1" of the mortar so can't spread out much anyway....but the benefit of templates comes with your infantry units. You now have the choice to spread out a bit, to make you more survivable. In V1, a unit got hit with 3/4 x D6 from a heavy howitzer etc, it was very dead. So didn't matter if you were spread out or in a tight formation. I think its better now in that respect and troops wouldn't really run-around tightly packed.
I just don't like spending time worrying about where every soldier is exactly - and really dislike how big an impact on the game it has. It is the kind of 'nadgery' game mechanic I try to avoid. But that's just me. - Kaiser
I don't think I've ever glued my fingers together as many times as I did when building that 6pdr...
Warlord canon are not their best products sadly.
Road to Berlin allows you to upgrade Mmg’s to do d2 pins, about 80 points apparently. Nice unboxing.
Interesting - suppose that is to reflect the higher RoF from the MG42
I do believe that the 6pdrs arrived by glider.
Yeah I found that out after this video.
They did via Hamilcar gliders. Sadly the field was growing potatoes and the ground was so soft that some Hamilcars sank on landing and flipped killing/wounding the crew. The landing site at Wolfheze a small museum in which pieces have been salvaged from the field (which you can see). There is a piece about one of the pilots (a relative by marriage) who was killed landing his Hamilcar. It is a very interesting visit
Great review. Just getting in to BA so really useful to hear the two of you chat about how things work, what kit is worth it, etc. (Phew no Peppa Pig this time …oh no, I mentioned it, aaaargh.)
Glad you enjoyed it! We can do more ear worms if you like ;)
@@ModellingforAdvantage No, I’m good for ear worms right now 🤪
Fantastic unboxing guys thank you. And yes I always take a mortar in my army's 😁🤔
You would be mad not too in this game.
Two dudes in a room! Saucy!
Oh yeah!
Well presented again
Why thank you Beanster
Cant complain about £1 a figure. Nice unboxing guys.
Aye.
Rifleman with flamethrower could be a runner and leave the flamethrower out of the scenario.
Yeah, I mean the other model in the set is just a rifleman so far as I can tell.
Well looks like at some point have to look at bolt action . Nice video
It is a great little game for sure.
11:50 MAXIM 11: Everything is air-droppable at least once 😆
Nice unboxing and painted, i like the camo.
Thanks for the visit
Suppression - Supressing Fire! If you get the reference....
I am afraid I missed that, is it a movie quote?
@@ModellingforAdvantage It's from Archer - it's one of a character's well known sayings
If they had all the real life people modelled on the actors in a bridge too far I’d never play anything else
Absolutely.
Late to the party on this video but I just picked up a couple of these boxes. I’m going in on BA3 and it’s British Airborne for me! Love from the USA. I still don’t like Monty though.
There are a lot of people that don't like Monty, pretty insufferable guy.
Lol. Holy sheez balls! Still laughing....
Jonny B does have an excellent turn of phrase!
I have 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne, Finnish Army, and a D-Day themed German force I'm working on finishing painting. I also have k47 units for each army. I love ya'lls videos. I need more battle reports! Lol
I just finished a Zeus heavy german tank, a Panther with rail gun, and a panzer 4 tank. I tried dunkelgrub camouflage on them.
Hey guys love your videos, however I think the audience could benefit from another view once you introduce yourself, specially that we want to see the actual box and stuff inside. Cheers.
You might be right, and that is what most people do. Believe it or not, you are the first person to say that however.
