I thought, it's not in Snape's personality to be comforting and I really didn't want to do it initially. For days I struggled with how I was going to do these and keep him in character. My first attempt was the Nightmare Comfort audio. And from there the audios started to grow on me. I can imagine him softening, but only for the one he loves. This was a great example because you can hear how his tone shifts from Poppy to you. We know he is capable of deep love, so to only make him a monotone robotic grouch in every audio wouldn't be romantic. I'm not going for toxic love. I'm going for true love and how that can transform him into a better person. He just needs someone to express it with.
