With guests Graham Nash and Martin Short (SCTV clip deleted due to copyright caution), plus Stupid Pet Tricks.
Taped July 31, 1984. This is the repeat from March 19, 1985.

I'm so glad you're uploading full episodes! Everyone knows darn well we're never gonna get that 386-disc "Late Night/Late Show" DVD box set, so this is the best.

Ha! More like 1,000-disc set, assuming around six shows per disc.

There's a similar problem with Ernie Kovacs. His wife's estate owns all his remaining footage but we haven't seen all of it.

That "audition" for an audience co-host is great!

Ken was of the exact age to be right there during the start of the web, I wonder if he got in on the action early and made a pretty penny.
Watching these episodes... it's like a warm comfy blanket, I'm really, REALLY enjoying this channel, watching stuff I haven't seen since it aired originally. Not this particular episode, but the whole vibe and dynamic. I depended on Dave during those weeknights in my teen years. And the humor has not been touched by time, you can trace a straight line from this to the Eric Andre Show.

I was just ranting about this to my friend the other day. I've come to appreciate how much of modern comedy has been made possible by Letterman. I'm 25 and never saw him when he was on the air, but thanks to people like Don Giller here, I've been able to take a deep dive into his show. The connections to modern comedy/television are so obvious to me at this point. I'm very thankful to be able to experience these shows via UA-cam.

The co-host bit should have been an ongoing weekly segment! Ken did a great job!

Ken Stricker apparently went the acting route working at Universal Studios is the only thing shown. He looks great and well. In Dec 2019 he shared a picture of this appearance on the show to promote the arts and someone shared the link to this vid so there's a chance he's rewatched lately 😁

Greetings from Ontario Canada - what a show - Martin, Graham, ken and stupid pet tricks - awesome - had Dave on all through high school in the 80’s. Don - any more full shows like this one would be appreciated eh!

All he had to do was head down the 7th floor hall to the infamous NBC Commissary for some eats . Probably where the folks from Pa.
got those gold foil peacocks - leftovers from a Brandon Tarkitoff lunch meeting.

I wonder how the “STAND STILL!” note at the top of the opening remarks cue card came to be.

"Where are they now?" Would like to know how Ken dealt with his new found fame. His look (at the time) was straight out of Central Casting. "You work in computers? What a surprise."

15:25 Ken Stricker's daughter is about the same age as my wife and he's the exact same age as my father in law. Just occurred to me while I was listening to him talk about the shirt he bought. He also looks a bit like what my father in law looked like back then. My wife and I were both alive when this aired but maybe too young to be watching. Sometimes I even try and imagine what I was doing at an exact moment in time like this one. Helps jog my memory. Now let's see...August 14th 1984 6pm...I was most likely eating dinner....what did I have? Wait a second I was in ORLANDO FLORIDA while Ken was up here. Weird.
Inadvertently Ken can now show this to people that he actually did host the show with David Letterman. I'm sure lots of people he knew didn't see it and he was walking around for years saying "no, it's true I was the co-host I tell ya!".

Very interesting to see Nash's comments on Neil Young, he was diplomatic as ever, but there was an edge to it there lol....years later after Neil's big resurgence in the late 80s and early 90s of course Nash was much more positive anytime he talked about Neil, and of course CSNY reunited for several tours and albums again.
