Philip Seymour Hoffman is the best villain in the series. R.I.P.
Owen Davian, one of the 🐐 of villains.
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman who ate his role up and held nothing back.
This is a sentimental favorite of mine. While I don’t think it’s as good as the newer films starting with 4, I think the whole Ethan gets married is a great development for the character.
And I think Seymour Phillip Hoffman is the scariest and most intimidating main bad guy this team has ever faced. He’s just menacing.
Next, Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol.
This was the turning point of the franchise, where it finally shaped into what it's now known for. This formula would be solidified by the next installment, "Ghost Protocol" which revived both the franchise and Tom Cruise's star power.

Nah.. Ghost Protocol was too cringe for me.. It had way too much comedy and light-heartedness.
I think Rogue Nation was able to capture more of the espionage feeling that MI:3 had.

The action might get crazier from here on out, but I love this movie the most, because it is the most personal. The villain is terrifying, the action is amazing, but yet feels grounded. M:I 3 is my favorite. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Hype, MI3 is insane
P S-H absolutely stole the show. Once of the most sinister villains in any spy thriller. Maybe one of the most rewatchable of the series.
This was so much better than the second one and where the series ramps up. You get a new regular in Benji. The first one still holds a special place for me being the first. The upcoming ones has some of the craziest stunts in any movie.
Understand that Phillip Seymour Hoffman was an up-and-coming star at this point and this performance put him over-the-top.
Such a underrated movie in the franchise.

The second movie wasn’t as well received as the first one; JJ Abrams wasn’t yet considered a movie director, only TV, and Cruise had the whole Scientology and crazy breakdown on Oprah.
All this was the perfect storm for this movie to be devalued and ignored, I think.
Definitely one of the best M.I .Movies in this franchise so far, everything is increased by 100. Brilliant by J.J. Abrahms.
Philip Seymour Hoffman made such a great villian. I would have loved to have seen him in one of Daniel Craig James Bond Movies. Maybe for the C.I.A. would have been cool.
Anyway a Great Addition to the Franchise. Unfortunately the latest one "Dead Reckoning " just tried to do to much at once. Will be interesting to see how many more M.I. Movies we will actually get.

Tom Cruise's acting when the fake wife was being threatened was great, still to this day.
Many harp negatively on JJ Abrams (for Star Wars and Trek). But he did a fantastic job revitalizing Mission Impossible. Since part 3 on. His influence has helped Cruise elongate this franchise. The dudes from Bad Robot Pictures.
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman. The best "villain" in the M:I franchise (thus far).

In case no one's pointed it out, this particular MI movie was created because Tom saw an/several episodes of the show Alias and got in touch with JJ Abrams (that's why JJ directed it). Felicity herself, Keri Russell was cast by JJ and a lot of the "Alias" themes were adapted to this movie. And yes, PSH is the best MI villain, IMO. So happy you're reacting to this! This and Ghost Protocol are my favorite MI movies 🤩
Im always thinking that no reaction channel NO ONE EVER watching this movie, mentions that IF the bodyguard looked behind the door, that bathroom will NEVER recover from the damage if a fight breaks out 😂🤣

This was the first movie that JJ Abrams directed. Tom Cruise wanted him to direct tge film based on the successful spy series he created 'Alias' starring Jennifer which actually borrowed the masks from this franchise.😊

PSH was such an amazing villain. the scene on the plane is masterclass acting. PSH so easily conveyed how much more power you can convey over someone even while being tied to a chair as their captive

Mission Impossible 3 It's My First Time I Saw Tom Cruise
This film saved the franchise after the shit storm of 2. Ghost protocol was my favorite until Fall Out.
Dude, Keri Russel’s death scene is so jarring. It shook something in me the first time I saw it in theaters. I’ll never forget it 😢
Oh! And Philip Seymour Hoffman is an absolute vision as a villain. He’s probably still my favorite of the series, even though there’s some really great ones after him.

They finally actually EXPLAIN the ", You're missing, should you choose to accept it" intro to their missions in the last two movies. VERY cool!

I’m gonna have to go back and watch your reactions to the first two after this. I can’t miss a reaction to this movie. It’s one of my favorites 😃 As others have said, this is the shift in the series, and it lets you know from the get. That opening scene is probably more intense than anything in the previous two. It’s incredible.
And they keep getting BETTER AND BETTER AND BETTER!!!
This is definitely the movie that changes the franchise. It only gets more insane and better from here. The skydiving from one building to another I believe is one of the stunts Tom did. the other one is Tom getting thrown into a car on the bridge by a Missle. I Think on one of the stunts he did get injured. Also, Benji is one of my favorite characters in this franchise From the fourth movie onwards, Benji will have a bigger role, more screen time and he will become a regular member of the IMF.
Kristen and Michael haven't seen anything yet. The next three movies are near-perfection(Specifically Mission Impossible 6: Fallout)

Stupidest part of this movie is Ethan taking off his mask and showing his face. Rest is great stuff this is when mission impossible gets good.
Mission Impossible 3 was so good action movie with better villain than the second movie.
I love every Mission: Impossible films except Mission Impossible 2 was so haralious also some of Tom Cruise action movies are so entertaining start with Minority, The Last Samurai, Collateral, Edge Of Tomorrow, Top Gun Maverick.
Hoffman was such a good actor especially playing hateful characters that I hated the actor by extension from hating his characters.

This is definitely the best movie JJ Abrams ever made, and unfortunately the success of this movie inflated his Ego so much that it created the JJ Abrams we have today .

This is good, but it's nowhere near as good as 4-6 and even 7. BUT, Philip is the send best villian in the franchise.

This is the best one of the entire franchise imo.
The first three are really its own thing each one, like they have their own unique personalities snd styles. The fourth one sucks ba[[s. Fifth one is good, sixth as well but too over the top and unnecessary extra long chopper scene over the last half hour of the movie. Then seven i mean its what it is. Nothing new and full of CGI. Again, totally unnecessary and cheesy CGI mountain motorcycle base jump from tom cruise, just looking to try to impress once more but adds nothing to the already super long movie.
You guys love Benji, watch till see him in the sequels

30:29 The last film, Thandie Newton and Tom had a lot of friction. A lot of it came from John Woo as the director. John Woo is used to working a way that was not conducive to them having great chemistry. And Tom was very stressed during that film. Also, the first three films in this series are very much of a particular time stylistically. The Retro vibe in the '90s, the Early 2000s thing, and this, the JJ Abrams late 2000s thing. 4-7 are much more modern and have a more cohesive feel regarding production and storytelling. But, the team behind the camera began to solidify around Christopher Mcquarrie as writer and then director in the back half. Also, the first three had 3 directors with wildly different, distinct styles. So, the relationship in 2 was very reminiscent of the same kind of relationships portrayed at the time.
As you continue this series, don't pay attention to the opening title credits, they just show scenes of what's going to happen in the movie which I always thought was stupid.
"I think this is gonna top the 2nd one." Not hard to do since that's an incredibly low bar to have to top! LOL
14:51 One of the best things about this movie is the speed at that the Italians were yelling and pissed off, and then in a second, they were super cool. HAHA, I love it.
I get you have to react constantly because that's the content you make, but no one likes someone constantly guessing what happens next. Literally no one. You aren't clever for anticipating narrative structure. There are only like 5 kinds of stories.

I will add to this. I don’t know if you read comments. But, the first was a Depalma film, who was a big 70s suspense director. The second was a John Woo film, who was a big action director. So, there wasn’t a sense of the character through them. And what Abrams did was bring both together.
And that’s why I loved this one. Because the character should be awesome and then bring in the team. And now we have 4 more movies haha

MI3 is still my second favorite of the series... such a solid film, for me this is the one that established it as a real franchise and somehow it still gets so much better.
