Merry Christmas - looks Cold - so glad I am in Australia - nice and Toasty - NO more Snow and Cold for me ! Yes - when I was in Canada - the Cars would Rust Out from that Evil Chemical Salt - I had my Share ! Bert - You are doing such a Great Job with all Your Cars and Trucks - Great Video - Stay Warm and many Cheers from Australia !
My buddy has a new truck “21” and it spent the first 3.5 months of this year in the shop. Transmission issues, then it kept throwing different engine codes, then it was spewing tranny oil….it was a constant headache.
I love the older s10s. The trucks are starting to get hard to find here in Ky but the s10 blazers are everywhere. I see more of them then probably any other car. I would love to have a 93 down s10 4.3 but price has went way to high on them now. I have a stock 98 z71 and a 2001 jeep XJ that will be with me till i die. Have a wonderful Xmas Bert. Thanks for the vids.
Hi Bert, I feel sorry for you in the northern hemisphere in your winter Freeze, down under we are in the Summer 30 degrees Celius = about 90 degrees Farinhight, It CHRISTMAS DAY HERE. SO HAVE A GREAT CHRISMAS BERT AND A BETTER NEW YEAR.
My 98 chevy 3500 8 foot bed 2wd just blew its trans on the way home from a job quote. I have no garage and work out of my driveway repairing it. 12 years ago I paid $800 for it from a friend who was going to scrap it because it was leaking oil into the coolant thru the intake gaskets. I fixed that and maintained it over the years. Trans shop i dropped it off on a Tuesday had it back with a Jasper trans by Friday. Cost me $6150 in credit cards. I had no choice because its a work truck with a utility cap with almost all the tools i own in it. its got about 2.25k on it. Merry Christmas Bert!
Our ABS went out, part no longer made for a 10 yr old car. I own a 98 Sonoma, 4 banger with manual. Merry Christmas to all at the Scrap Farm homestead.
Merry christmas to you and your family Bert, hoping granny's getting better in the new year. About new cars and all the electronics and computers, that's why they're not called mechanics anymore, they're called engineers or technicians. 😂 As an old school retired self employed mechanic, no I can't recognize the mess in your shop, because if my shop had looked like yours, I wouldn't had been able to do anything, I would've used at least half of my time, running around looking for tools and whatnot, and that's the opposite of being productive - I wouldn't had earned any money. 😅
Merry Christmas Bert.. great video, loving the patch jobs you do. Often wondered about building a garage with a lift and just renting it out for a daily fee... for guys just like yourself. Would you think it would be a decent investment if you had the land to do it as part of your own set-up.
Merry Christmas Bert! i survived Christmas prep. How's the orange fuzzball? Bet he'd like a few hours of nice warm wood stove. He''ll leave you the salt and the rust though; he does orange just fine on his own.
I drive a rusty, trusty 2008 GMC. Since I live off a dirt road, it gets a coating of calcium chloride all summer, and then salt in the winter. The rear fenders are rotted, the tailgate has a big hole in it, and the doors and cab corners are rusted out-but I've changed the oil every interval, and taken care of it the best I can. the frame is solid, though. I'm going to keep driving as long as I can. I could easily buy a new one, but not for now.
@@ScrapFarmI've had a few vehicles that I had to replace the switch it wasn't the blower motor. Usually when a blower motor goes it stays not running or you'll hear the bearing squealing. Always the high pressure side goes on the power steering pump. I've had to change them out on my Vans. GMC Sierra. I love them vans. Like a 350 motor with two cylinders cut off. V6. They had good transmissions to. As long as you maintain them. New filter new gasket pump out the old 10 quarts of tranny fluid for new. But they were dependable. Start up three below zero no problems. I imagine you have a V6 in that truck? I really enjoy MacGyver kind of guys. They can problem-solve for themselves and come up with things they need. That's how I grew up in the 60s we were rich. My father told me you're going to have to do it yourself and learn it yourself and come up with your own kind of plans. Put on my street we had a lot of greasers had some very nice muscle cars. Even old Harley panheads. A lot of stuff was gifted to them guys leaving for the Vietnam war passed it on to their friends. First time I seen a hemi in a coupe they had 16 spark plugs into distributors I couldn't believe it. And then I remember my father having a record player in his car then moved on to a four track. It look like in a track tape but you had to lock it in on the player. And then finally he got an 8-track. Listening to all the Motown music real classic music today Motown music
@@ScrapFarmbut u have A nice setup in the garage with the hoist. I would get me an oil burner. You can use old recycle oil for fuel I have one in my garage I haven't bought fuel for it in years. I know too many people that do their own oil changes and they bring by their used oil.
@@ScrapFarmyou should get a can of paint clean all that rust off and then parts under that truck and paint them to keep them from rusting even more your spring hangers will eventually roit right away faster than you think. I would definitely put a new rear end cover pan on that truck. It's going to start rusting holes through it
You talk about older cars/ trucks well I’ve been around for 68 years 69 next month and I’ve had I think around 16 vehicles which the only used ones I ever bought were my first two and that didn’t include my husband‘s vehicles. About every four or five years I’d buy a new vehicle sometimes even last time between vehicles. But in all those new vehicles I still loved driving the 1958 white GMC pick up truck which of course had a stick on the steering wheel and to this day I still miss that vehicle. It belonged to the family business but it was fun to drive. Now I have a vehicle that I’m trying to keep until I pass and it’s a 2017 and it just turned over past 30,000 miles. All I’ve had to do with that vehicle is of course change the oil every 4000 miles sometimes less and a few other little things like windshield wipers and oh the air filters and stuff like that and of course the crummy stock tires tires that came with it but it’s been a great little vehicle and it looks as good as the day I bought it because I’m being very careful I don’t wanna ever have to buy another car again and I love this little thing. But that will pick up they just don’t make them like that anymore.
Merry Christmas all . Your 100% on the point if your going to Diy a old truck car ext.. if you know what your doing you'll end up with a better product then what you can buy in the new technology but you are not married no kids no obligation to anything other than taxes and food and 99%of people don't have that and probably will never

I mean I got a home built one that works great it really likes to eat the wood but you can't much complain in a 40 by 60 shot with no insulation... I mean realistically if you were in there for 12 hours a day and it was really cold you could probably burn up $200 in wood in a week but you would be relatively warm...
