Using a Coverstitch is what most use for knits and swimwear type fabrics. I want one so bad but I'm so glad I found your video so I can at least make what I want without having to buy one.
I love your patterns and appreciate your videos. I have bought many of your patterns and I love that you show how to assemble them. You are super talented and I am happy to see young women sewing for themselves and helping others! You rock!
Katie. More collateral = less coverage ! Really cool to hear about a straight stitch in areas that don't need a zigzag stitch, such as the gusset seam/seat zone ? V.
Thank you!! And practice makes perfect, you should see some of the suits I've made in the past... Even in the present I sometimes surprise myself with how bad things can come out!!
Thank you so much Katie! I appreciate ALL of your videos. Is there a specific place we could leave you requests for tutorials? I could literally pick your mind all day haha.
I have a heavy-duty Singer that's not a serger, but it can do overlock stitches. Would you recommended using an overlock stitch since I have the option with my machine?
Here are my favorite places to get fabric: edgewaterave.com/blogs/resources/where-to-buy-swimwear-fabric I mostly shop through Blue Moon! And I'd say I buy more nylon base fabric but I really like the softness of polyester.
I recently just got my own brother sewing machine to sew my own swimwear and I put the settings on for zig zag stitch but the material always gets jammed and never feeds though. Please help lol
Same! Especially when right when starting a stitch. After getting so frustrated, I ended up starting my stitches about an inch and half down from the edge and then reversing back to the start, then moving the fabric forward again. After doing this multiple times and it taking me 3 hours just to make a top, I am probably buying a serger lol. Just can't seem to get it started without it bunching :( So frustrating.I have the Brother CE4000, which has the stretch stitch Katie mentioned in this video. Going to try that when I get home and pray that helps.
I just have a regular machine but It is an industrial one, they haven’t any other stitch than a regular lineal, can you please tell me if I can use it. I want to start making swimwear

Excited for this! Just bought my own machine and am ready to get started. Thank you!
I love the hair!! It looks good girl! I love your videos ... I love trying to make swimsuits even if they aren’t quite as good as yours lol

Yes I pick tutorials from requests 99% of the time! Send an email to requests@edgewaterave.com
Thank you!
Do you really need elastic for swimwear?
Thanks.
Thanks very much
Do you still use wooly nylon thread rather than polyester with the normal sewing machine?

Love your tutorials! Just wondering, where do you get your fabric?? And do you like to use polyester or nylon as the base?

Can we request to have patterns made for sizes 3 and 4X
Yes I’m currently working on extended sizing!
can you use the stitch that looks like this? I/VI ?
I don't recognize that one off the bat, but a good test is to sew it into swimwear fabric, then try stretching it and breaking it
what type of serger do you use???
I have a Babylock Evolution!
@@EdgewaterAve could you list some cheap/affordable options for sergers?
