Edited to add, my son is 38 years old, so it’s been a longggg time for me. Looks like times have changed since then.

Unfortunately, the hospitals don't consider it a "necessity" anymore, it's a choice/preference of the family, and it's not even covered by insurance anymore either, you have to pay out of pocket!

Poor baby. Mom is right: the baby did seem in a stat of shock. Why did he get circumcised? Why did Dad get circumcised as an adult? We didn't have our kids circumcised and they are fine.
