  • This video compresses 20 minutes of high intensity wildfire behavior into 20 seconds. It was recorded at 4:18 p.m. PDT August 1, 2020 by V. Leroy Leggitt. You can see several areas of condensation at the top of the smoke column as it becomes a pyrocumulus cloud. The Apple Fire started July 31, 2020 near Cherry Valley, California and spread north of Beaumont and Banning. As of August 3, 2020 it had burned over 26,000 acres.

That was the absolute most ominous smoke plume I’ve ever seen in all of my years living in SoCal. From Riverside it looked like a volcanic eruption or a massive explosion

It looked like a Big ass volcano from San Jacinto I lived like 10 minutes away from the fire. This fire looks like the StationFire back from 2009 in Los Angeles National Forest.

Wouldn't want to be around that thing when that fire loses it's head of steam and those columns come crashing down.

From a distance it looked like a nuke had gone off. I live in Menifee and it looked like the fire was so close to us.
