Love you, I grew up in the US, but my soul will always be in Ireland... I found this band back in the early 2000's... Fit perfectly to hear these words and tunes, hooked right away!!! LOVE Horslips!!!!!!!!! Thank You!!! So happy you exist!!!
Horslips' "Dancehall Sweethearts" is among my Top 20 fav LPs - and now I see they were probably even more a great live band! Seems they could play everybody's ass off! What a great show - they held nothing back it seems - full power! Wish I could have seen them live in their best time! But then I'm German and was far away...
Saw them do this in the Manor House Killedeas in 1974 and just like them long hair, flared jeans and platform shoes. Now no hair, elasticated trousers and slippers. But the music is just as good! Good musicians last the test of time!
For Ewa: Coudn´t resist to present it.This is really a crazy document. ;-) An Irish folkrock band, disguised as glamrockers, playing progrock. Absolutely crazy. LOL. But it shows that in the Seventies, everything was possible.
Saw them in Bristol couple of times..........Frist time ,around TheTain release (they were supporting Steeleye, blew them away) second doing Man Who Built America. In the middle of winter, they did an extra long set as the support was caught in a blizzard ! Brilliant live 1
Some dodgy outfits there lads 😅😂, at their best 78/79 .. Dearg Doom is an absolute gem/classic/masterpiece.. met and spoke a few times with johnny in belfast as a young kid and he was the best.
Hi, this version is much powerful than the studio one, but even now I don't know what Bím Istigh Ag Ól means I am not Irish, is there also an audio recording of this song
@@murkartik Actually you're just about spot on although the way it's presented as the title of the song it's probably very old Irish & not traditional Irish language of today...
very very well.......................................................................................................

Never saw them live, alas, but I'm more or less still dressing like that. Apart from the platforms!
Met a girl from Wexford in 1979, she turned us on to this band. Good times.....
Nice one, man
Brilliant live band..
Can you believe they used to play at Red Island in Skerries - bikers' dream
Excellent band. As has been said, " much imitated, never bettered".

Good somebody caught that.
I was going to ask my Gealgoir about Ói tomorrow. What McDaid are you? I'm descended, maternal, from the Folly McDaids.
make more sense!

And the clothes were outrageous…..
The dancehalls of ireland had seen nothin like it before. I think my horrible sister got to see them but she’s five years older than me.

The outfits were amazing!
Not sure if spelling correct. Think it means I’ll be inside drinking.
The clothes are a bit feckin mad. But it was the 70s after all
As you can hear the kilfanora were a big influence
Good to see Nero has not killed all the autos players.....
Hi,

I'll Be Inside/In There Drinking, roughly. My Irish isn't very good, someone else might know what it's referencing etc.

I agree live version is much more exciting & powerful then the studio version.. indeed...
@@ogrebattle22763 yes, for me is live version very powerful as I have heard that Horslips were very good live band better than in the studio.
@@murkartik thanks, for trying to help me what it means.
