You know what suks? Even with this video proof her insurance policy will go up. Insurance companies will raise your monthly policy for as little as a fly landing on your vehicle.
Blocking their faces is so ridiculous in this day and age. This video is all over online. They even found the car a few days ago. Who are you protecting here exactly, the people committing the crime?!!?
ABC, perhaps now it is time to pass a law that within the next 5 years all new cars come with built in cameras. They are already in most cars for lane keeping assist and back up. Now let’s just make their video footage able to be saved and exported to a drive.
I still don't understand that how this footage originally started circulating 2 weeks ago, yet there has been no news on why the 4 people trying to commit insurance fraud haven't been incarcerated yet.
If this becomes a more common thing and criminals continue to go unpunished or under punished, i think some people may start taking the law into their own hands. Just like citizens tracked down the car, the feeling that criminals are getting away with things may encourage vigilantism.
This scam happened to me many years ago and I managed to avoid being hit then the guy chased me high speed all the way to my work. Scared the crap out of me. Those in car cameras are worth every penny.
Tracked them down? Didn't you hear those idiots still filed a claim on her insurance. They should all be arrested soon. I mean they should've been already. But definitely would for sure now
I had a claim filed against me for a hit-and-run in a part of town I'd never been in and there was nothing on my car to indicate it had ever happened. I found out about it when some mail from another insurance company showed up at my house. I almost threw it away thinking it was junk mail. First thing I did was notify my insurance company and let them handle it. They sent out an adjuster who verified that there was no indication of any crash. I also had proof that that I wasn't in the area when the incident supposedly happened. The claim was denied by both insurance companies. There's a lot of f'ed up people out there!
They need to investigate and prosecute all police officers and the department for refusing to help for telling all police officers not to do anything and for not answering calls about the report
I think you missed a crucial piece of the fraud that after the collision driver changed seats and the back passengers tried to cover it with some plastic sheet
I have been aware that this is a thing for 30 years. I was told in high school classes to watch for 2 vehicles in this scam. One beside you, for to trap you in the lane, and one in front or you behind you to cause the collision, if you find yourself with two coordinated vehicles matching your pace, exit traffic as soon as it's safe. BTW I posted this before finishing the video and seeing the red Kia.
This is why automatic braking should be banned. In this case you are allowed to use your car in self defense and push it out of the way. For all you know, they could get out and carjack you. You can't do that with automatic braking. If it were me, the person driving the silver Camry would go the way of the DoDo Bird.
So not only did police officers and the department refused to help they tried to request to all their dispatchers and phone calls to be not answered and they told police officers not to investigate
