Just did my first trimming of mint for the year have blooms in cucumbers now and looks like tomatoes are ready to start blooming love this time of year
Good morning, Vee, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸 My hair has been long since I was 30! I'm not sure about you with short hair. What does Joe think? I definitely buying a colony would be great. Have a great weekend ❤Peggy❤😊😊
Joe doesn’t care what I do. He loves me unconditionally no matter what. I have had really short hair and I just look strange.😂 plus my Worms won’t recognize me😅
Thank you for your great videos! Could I buy some of your cocoon handful you mentioned in your video? I don’t see in your website. I tried the urban worm bag and lost 5 lbs of red wigglers! 😢
I’m sorry I don’t sell cocoons because I never have that many to sell. I’ve lost Worms to through the years. You just have to learn what went wrong and try to correct the problem. Don’t worry.🤗
@@gingerdavis9648 oh, the star colony oh, OK I will put them up for sale as soon as I see that the bedding is ideal. Stay tuned I’ll let you guys know.
I love the little worm tower on your site! I hope to introduce worms to my local school district and thought it would be perfect for the classroom. Will it be coming back in stock?
Yes, I just got some in. I have to measure them to see how much the shipping will be. My daughter is actually starting her own little Worm Farm in her apartment. Proud mama here.😊
Ok, I'm sold! I want the starter colony. However, i see that your chow is out of stock...and the pdf is no longer available. What do I need to do differently for the colony than for the adult worms? Can I just do the regular layer of paper then layer of food scraps? Can I do bucket layers or stick with a tub?
You treat the starter colony exactly like you would your other Worms. The difference is they travel in their own bedding mix with Peat Moss instead of 100% sterile environment.
Hello! Thank you very much for the helpful information! I’m brand new to all of this. I see that you use bubble wrap to cover. I’m concerned that these won’t keep the worms in. Is it really sufficient?😅 Other than convenience, what other advantages do shallow bins offer? I was thinking of using a storage bin prior to seeing this video. 🙏😊
There’s no worries using the bubble wrap. It keeps the moisture in just don’t wrap the entire bin put it on the surface like I do. The shallow bins are more for breeding. This year I am creating a course and I will announce it when it is ready.
I just use the straw that comes in packages in tractor supply. It’s nice and clean and it’s usually a really big package. The stuff stretches and it is messy.😅
Where would I find the starting offer or pure reds on your site? I'd love to try and see if they will grow up and breed for me. I'm on a fixed income and worms are really expensive.
You buy mosquito thugs on Amazon. They are rings that help you put them in water to control flying insects. I take a quarter of a ring and I put it in a gallon and I use that water to wet all my worm bins down. Keep the fruit fly, and any flying thing under control.

Your one cool lady you have definitely got the worm farming thing figured out I no you have a lot of years under your belt
Thank you ☺️ i’ve been worm farming 22 years. I’m not perfect at it by any means I just do the best I can.
Wow I love African night crawlers but they don’t like the cold but still my favourite worm and great composting worms also 🪱🇳🇿❤️
The cold is the one thing that kills them 😭

Woodstock(bin) the summer of love....lol
Are these worms from midwest worms??? The bedding looks like theirs. Big fan of both of you :)
No I got them from another farm way up north, they grew huge. A lot of farms use the same bedding. I work with Midwest worms often.
I look weird with short hair too!
😅
I love your hair
Thank you, me too, but there are some days it’s very challenging😅

@@TheGardenAndWormLadythanks for your reply! I meant the handful out of the baby worm bin and whatever else is in the handful. Thanks!

I haven’t listed the starter colon yet because I am waiting for them to develop properly
What's the Mosquito water you use.
I forgot the full name already
Mosquito dunks☺️
Selling worm colonies is a great idea! Full size worms are so expensive. Especially when you’re a new wormer and unsure of success!
Exactly! ☺️ I’m probably only gonna have African nightcrawlers until September though.
You are funny
Hi I just looked on your website for the Africans but didn't see them.
@@mnj5089 autumn is coming here and it is hard for me to keep them in my Wormery through the winter. Maybe next spring haven’t decided yet.

And put it in the worm bin to see what happens😅
