I loved her until the huge tribute to her on MTV... The show was over and she kept going on and it wasn't because anyone was interested in seeing any more.
mike ritchie I saw Diana perform live many times and it has ALWAYS been unimagiably memorable!! One VERY memorable night I took my precious young son to see her at The Circle Star Theater in San Carlos Cali. That night her brother was there and coincidentally was sitting next to us. During the show, Diana proudly introduced her handsome brother (a resident of Berkeley at that time). He got on stage and danced with his sister sooooo happy!! It was a glorious site to see!!! DIANA WAS BEAMING!!! DIANA IS ALL ABOUT FAMILY!!! GLORIOUS WOMAN THAT SHE IS!!!much A precious memory in so many ways!!!!!
They just don't make great stars like that anymore. Now that's what makes a star legendary and timeless..... having the ability to be the whole package and being able to do it all with singing, dancing, acting, entertaining, etc. and to do it all well. Only a true performer can wear all of these hats. That's why Miss Ross looks so at home whenever she's on stage. Such a classic star!
The 1960s teen "crew" knew all of this. By the 1970s Miss Ross had started her family, loved her concerts where the inclusion of dancing, acting, and entertaining did not matter as much. So glad & thankful all this was caught on celluloid then transferred to digital for all of us who didn't experience it LIVE.
She was destined to be the megastar she has become. Of course, haters come with the territory. But clearly by 1968-69, the entertainment industry beckoned a bright new star, a diva for all times.
Yes ma'am Diana Ross did that! I didn't expect that at all! She danced with style and grace here. Diana was destined to be a "Star." She was born with what I call the "It" factor! Not only is she a great singer, but this dance routine proves she's an amazingly talented dancer as well. I'm 51, and I learn something new everyday. You go girl!
That is called a triple threat in Hollywood. Singer, actress and dancer Add beauty, charisma, fashion icon, hair icon and a sense of theatricality that preceded the Madonna and Lady Gaga’s of the world. Maybe there will never be another star like Diana. I Already have tickets to her summer show at the bowl. Amazing that she will perform at 77 years. Folks if she is coming to your town please go if you can. We never know how much longer we will have these legends.
Moves and music. Wow. So glad my youth was filled with the wonderful Motown music. Great memories. Before vulgarity became the norm in some forms of modern popular music.
Never seen this before because wasn't on TV here in England at the time. Pity the Strictly Come Dancing show wasn't on back then - Diana would have been unbeatable!!!
I thought I had seen every Diana Ross performance, but not this one. This is one of her greatest performances and she didn't even sing! Bravo Diana. Almost a preview of the moves Michael Jackson would perform a few years later. Definitely something Diana should have pursued more often.
Y’all overstate Diana’s influence on Michael….Diana wasn’t a dancer dancer like Michael was. Michael’s performing & dancing came from Sammy Davis, James brown, Fred estaire & Jackie Wilson with his own charisma and twist to it. Diana influenced some of his vocal styling but that’s about it but performing & music wise I don’t see alot similar
On another episode, she did a beautiful Astaire/Rogers dance number with Sammy Davis that was perfection. She led the Supremes to become the most successful US group ever, built one of the most successful careers ever, dusted with Lionel Richie on the most successful duet in history, make films & win a well-deserved Oscar nomination, co-host the Oscars 4 times, host the American Music Awards 3 times, host the Grammys, star in 5 TV specials, star in two successful TV movies, star in the Superbowl halftime show, star at the World Cup, host the ceremony to award the Nobel Peace Prize, tour with two of the top tenors in opera & more than hold her own & raise a beautiful, talented family who adore her. Diana Ross blazed new trails, broke down all kinds of barriers for Black singers & singers in general & has achieved truly remerkable things & still performs to sell-out shows at 76. She is a superstar, a legend & a performer whose work & name will live forever.
I have seen Diana live many times I love her so much. She is a phenominal entdrtainer!!! PHENOMINAL!!!!! No matter where I saw her, she pointed me out in the audience. 😁 Oh, except for once bcuz it was raining. Diana is remarkable in so many ways and on so many levels, SUCH BEAUTIFUL TALENT AND SOUL. And... how she could always acknowledge one of her greatest fan says EVERYTHING about HER. ME!!!! Yes I am, Yes I am!!! Diana is more than a well deserverved Internatioal Star, she is a beautiful gift from heaven!!! She Certainly makes the dreams of her loyal fans come true!!!! I know this from personal experience!!! She always acknowledged me in the audience. Can you even begin to imagine the thrill and honor!!! Once, in Lake Tahoe at Caesars she came down from the stage and came to my table, she had me stand and she put her arm around me tightly and sang. My friends at our table were blown away!!! I stood there next to her while she sang beautifully, with all that hair in my face, not believing that my long time idiol had her arm around me and singing a beautifuhl song!!! What a life I have led!!! Next I will tell you about about Ray Charles!! ........ then Willie Nelson.....
Wow. If Ms Ross can still dance like that...she could easily win the mirror ball on DWTS!!! Where did she find the time to do all the things she did in the day. And still be a mother. An incredible woman in every respect.
John Acciavatti ... And her kids said she was a GREAT mother at that. Didn't half ass the job and leave them to self destruct like many career driven parents.
mickey mcconnell well man , no wonder Michael Jackson wanted her again again and again, I always thought they were meant to be! he spent all his life wanting to marry her, she is a gem, so beautiful
The music, the dancing the star is sheer class!.We don't have this type of class of music, dance and star these days.Wish those times could come back again.
I freaked out when I saw this on The Hollywood Palace in 1969. This performance along with “Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine/Don’t ya Hear me Calling to You” on the 1969 Dinah Shore special and Diana dancing with Sammy Davis Jr. channeling Astaire and Rogers on the Hollywood Palace had me mesmerized. Who knew Diana could dance so elegantly yet powerfully? Diana was showing the world that she was more than ready to leave the Supremes. That stunning outfit she’s wearing here? I saw her live in 1970 doing her first solo show ever. She wore this outfit for several numbers. It’s even hotter in person!
This lass was born 2 be a star. super talented. thanking God that he gave barry the wisdom to spot r and mold her. singer. dancer. actress. mother. u name it, n she does all so well. a living legend. refreshing 2 c dat the haters r not on this one.
I looked at my old friend that is no more around. I wish it had not taken such a long pain for his final goodbye. I will always miss you Donald. Poupic
It’s easy to 4get how Supremely (pun intended) talented Diana Ross was. 18 #1 hits on Billboard. 12 with the Supremes & 6 solo. Only Elvis, Mariah, & the Beatles have more.
"Soulful Strut" is the instrumental version of Barbara Acklin's "Am I The Same Girl." "Soulful Strut" was released as a single in the last quarter of 1968 and became a massive hit, while Barbara's song came out in early 1969 and languished in semi-obscurity until Swing Out Sister released a cover in 1992. So for accuracy, Diana is dancing to "Soulful Strut," not "Am I The Same Girl." If the vocals were included, it would be AITSG. When this episode of "Hollywood Palace" was recorded in 1969, "Soulful Strut" was a massive hit on the US charts.
Marvin had some moves. I saw a concert at Radio City Music Hall in the late 70s ... Cries, cheers and yeeping "Oh those thighs" as Marvin strutted his stuff.
Who doesn't absolutely love Diana??? I'm Crazy about her!
I loved her until the huge tribute to her on MTV... The show was over and she kept going on and it wasn't because anyone was interested in seeing any more.
Impressive stuff. I never associate dancing with Diana Ross. A woman of many talents!
She has always said that she is a dancer at heart, and this proves it. She is amazing.

Diana should have won the Oscar in 1973 just as Minelli should have won for the Sterile Cuckoo in 1970 (which went to Maggie Smith).
Super wow. I never knew that Diana Ross had such dancing capabilities. Thanks for posting this clip. (What one learns on You Tube.)
Me either. She did not do much dancing during her "rebirth" in the 80s . i thought she could not dance.

Never thought of Diana Ross as a dancer. But she did a good job.
Damn, she really pulled that off. Looks like a natural. So many reasons how/why she’s a superstar.
Diana Ross was a class act, an exceptional singer and a nice dancer. Of course back then, things were much more classy than it is today
Diana getting ready to become a solo star..FABULOUS!!
