I work straight nights, and had slept 3 hours when a buddy messaged me about the Habs trade to move up. I thought it was a precursor for a bigger deal, so I stayed up all day until the draft started waiting for something to happen, and it didn't. I really want to know who Hughes wanted @21 that was worth the 2 picks it cost. I doubt it was Hage, because he shouldn't have been there, but I'm damn glad he was. That draft was definitely worth dragging my ass at work. Getting drafted by the team you and your dad grew up cheering for must be an amazing feeling.
I think only losser today is Vancouver. All teams got better today

Maybe Ben Danford will turn out to be a stud but only time will tell if that happens.
What if they kept the pick @ 23 and selected Solberg or Emery, I think Ben Danford could have been available at 58. or maybe give up a 5th rounder to move up maybe to 52
Yeah Ben Dover would have been available much later. This pick should have been Solberg and they will regret not taking him in the long run
Gamblers mentality. Just because we hit on Cowan. Doesn't mean it will happen again. They could have gotten Ben later.

Agree Sharks and Habs are the big winners but there we're a lot of great picks for guys that dropped further than I thought they would

Honestly im pissed he fell that much. Not cause my habs didnt get him cause we aint passing on demidov, but the disrespect to buium is crazy. Wild got a stud at 12.
They would of pick Buium 13 as well. If Philadelphia traded down a spot is because they didn't want Buium which is crazy indeed. It's not like they moved up for 3-4-5 spots. Minnesota got a top 5-7 pick at 12 is crazy. If philly really wanted Luchanko, they could of trade down easily 3-4 spots and receive far more in my opinion. If you are a Minnesota fan, I am happy for you. Buium could be the best defenseman of the draft.

I think Vegas taking someone who would be a top 5 pick in different circumstances are also a winner.
Isles are winers for keeping their first for once and watching eiserman fall into their lap. Flames are winners for grabbing parekh after utah, sens, and kraken passed on him.
I was never sold on Zeev Buium as an option for the Senators. Hes left shot and we have WAY too many LDs in our system. Parekh was originally who I wouldve liked, but he lacks the size that Yakemchuk has. Besides it seems like he has more of a defensive game (not by much) than Parekh. We couldve traded down and still landed him, but I think the Sens got it right

Losers: Jets and Flyers
As a Jets fan, I included them cause I feel like they should have traded into the first round. But I feel like they could get a really good player in round 2.
Habs is not a winner for you ?
I’d include New Jersey in the WIN column. They grabbed. 6’7” WALL of a Defenseman, who arguably should have gone top 5. The Devils are building an absolute dynasty on D.
As I said, I like the pick and the potential of the d-core but just saying they are there for the argument sake of being in that spot and not getting a game breaker type guy

Flames already have Hunter Brzstewicz which is an identical player to Perekh. I don't know what they will do with both of them
brzstewicz is in no way comparable to parekh. His points were mostly assists. Parekh can score goals and find openings in the d to shoot and has a shot. That would make for a great pp duo.

As a flames fan I am happy with the draft however I officially hate Utah and will forever cheer against them.
Until I see different... My Canes are losers. No Guentzel... No Necas trade... No first round pick. I may be over reacting but I don't like it as a first look from Tulsky
Anaheim selecting sennecke and third is a bit of a miss. Especially because philly was wanting move up there was a decent chance he would have been available at 13 if not someone similar to his caliber.
Im pretty sure other teams wanted to move up as well.

Chicago adds top D man and Malkin type player (Boivert). Bedard (Crosby) is going to love these additions. Dynasty coming.

I think the Habs might be the biggest winners for who they picked at the spots they had. Sean Monahan was good to the Habs, and they still have a first rounder from Calgary next year. As for Edmonton? What'r you doing...seriously?
That 1st rounder from Calgary will most likely be a very late one (Florida's)

Also I wonder if its possible if leafs do same thing again trade down to a spot or two and maybe get a late 3rd rd pick. Which would be a stroke of genius considering they didn't have a pick till the 4th or 5th rd. So Tree could turned a 23rd 1st into into a late 1st 2nd and 3rd rd. Picks .
