      Boy is that the truth. Beauty is skin deep but ugly is to the bone. One of my friends told me that years ago. I love the saying and live by it. Also kindness makes you beautiful. So thank you

    I have been told most of my life that I am unattractive. By adults when I was young, by my peers, by men I dated....it was something I really struggled with, especially in my 20s & 30s. Now that I am in my 40s, I have hit a point where I don't care what others think. You don't think I'm attractive enough? Move along.....I won't waste my time convincing you otherwise.
    I focus on skincare, healthy eating, exercise and a full night's sleep. I dont wear makeup at all. I think my skin looks so much better without it!

    • @MrsScott-bx8sb
      @MrsScott-bx8sb 3 роки тому +3

      I was told the same. "Ugly" was used to describe me. Or "cute" as in, "I'm too polite to call her unattractive, so calling her cute is safe." I've come to hate being called cute. Now that I am 40, people call me classy, which is fine by me, or "you don't look 40."

    • @PhilomenaSK
      @PhilomenaSK 3 роки тому +5

      What a horrible thing to have to hear from men you are dating. I know it is easier said than done, but if they think about you like that, I wouldn’t date them.

      I've been told if I put effort into dressing a certain way or wearing make up I would have a boyfriend or husband 🤷😂 I make sure I smell nice and look tidy. I'm a outside girl,I feel like too much make up is a waste! I brush my brows,curl my lashes, mascara,blush and chapstick!

    SLEEP is so underrated in our culture. I feel some folks think it shows weakness to sleep and being busy is the way. Not so!! Sleep overrides everything in my opinion. Also, on sunscreen ALWAYS put sunscreen on the back of your hands. You will thank me when you are 60!

    • @prlegal411
      @prlegal411 3 роки тому +3

      I too have often thought of how our culture regards sleep. So many people see it as a form of weakness and laziness. It is something our bodies and brains need in order to enjoy life and be productive. I’ve tried building better sleep habits over the past year or so and my life has only changed for the better.

    I have a 13 year old and a 2 year old and I’ve made it a point to never comment on my body or physical appearance in front of them. I’m actually a really bad perfectionist though and if my family knew what was really in my head they’d be shocked. But I think my 13 yo has a good self esteem since I’ve never put emphasis on physical appearance aside from just being healthy and hygienic. I’m 38 and have been dying my hair black since 18 and just this morning decided it’s time to grow out my natural hair which includes grays! Really excited for the “new me” to come.

      @Courtney6 3 роки тому

      @@emilyb5106 Hi, thank you 😊 I switched from using “natural black” dye to “darkest brown” last fall to try and go a bit lighter but brown seems to fade really fast so I’ve been dying my hair every 3 weeks so I don’t have weird roots but I’ve had enough. My natural hair is a light to medium brown so it should be very interesting 😬 but I’m hoping the color will fade enough over time so it doesn’t look too freaky while it’s growing! My hair is almost waist length as well so I think I’ll need to trim some off.

  • @mylifeisasong

    So good! This one was a good one for my 10 year old to watch, seeing as how she's entering a new decade of life, where these things become a bigger topic. Your Mom and my Mom seem to say a lot of the same things.🥰 I have 5 sisters (7 girls (6 living) and 1 boy in our family, total), so beauty seemed to be a constant topic in some way, shape and form in our house always.
    The points you made are points I want both of my daughters (and any more daughters I have) to grow up knowing and remembering.💜
    I needed these reminders and encouragement myself this week. My face has been all messy this week from Aunt Flo and some other stress and I've just been feeling UGLY. I've been catching myself about to vocalize how ugly I feel or look and then remembering my daughter, right there, watching, hearing... I don't want her to grow up thinking ugly thoughts about herself... So, I just say, "Wow! I need to drink more water this week and make sure not to skip my vitamins, so I can work through this break out!" 😬😂
    This may sound bad, but since my personality is to try to see the positive of every negative, I have to say that I've been using my broken out face as a reminder of what it looks like when I'm having a bad attitude.🤦‍♀️😂
    New goal: don't let my attitude look like a broken out face... even when my face is broken out.😂🤷‍♀️😂

    I hope one day women will realize they don’t need ANY makeup to be put together or beautiful. This is a trick of the enemy to make us feel that way. Men don’t wear makeup to look professional, put together, or handsome. We should take care of our skin, eat right, and exercise because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. Beauty is vain and will fade. We should just embrace who God created us to be, embrace each season of our life!

      Agree with you in part. I find this wonderful Godly women amazing. Her Lord comes first, her husband second and then her children. She is a fine example of Proverbs 31.
      God bless you and the people who agreed with you.

    I am 54, and enjoy your videos so much! I love when you back up your words with scripture! Honestly, if you didn't do that, I can see the joy of the Lord in your eyes anyway! Thank you for being such a great influence on woman of all ages! Your mom did an amazing job! That is what makes you an amazing mother! And, I thought of your daughter as I watched this, and how you are an amazing Mother as a true example of beauty inside and out! Keep shining for Jesus!

    I personally don't think we need to think that we need to look good in public to make Mennonite look good, as a Mennonite. I believe we should do it to make Jesus look good. Let's glorify Him!! Not Mennonite, or Amish, or anything!

      I can not imagine having to be young and date now a days. I am only 36 but when I was in my young 20's it wasn't ANYTHING like it is now- these influencers and social media as a whole- has created this unrealistic expectation for how women need to look. Stay strong and true to yourself- you will attract the type of man that God wants for you. You DO NOT need to change yourself to fit ANY kind of mold!

I definitely think we are each beautiful just the way God made us and certainly agree that it’s what’s on the inside the truly matters! Also agree that we should try our best to take care of the body we were given! Also thanks for all the tips- esp. the Mom tips!! ;) need all the help I can get! *and I’m inspired... going to make some ice green tea now!!! ;) Thanks again for sharing! :)

    Could not agree more about getting sleep. I personally slipped into adrenal fatigue because of losing sleep and believing the lie I had to sacrifice for my kids...even my sleep. I has taken me 1 year to heal with the help of a nurse practitioner but I'm so grateful to have learned how important sleep is.

    A bit of advice from one of your "seasoned" subbies...Remember to include your neck and back of hands when using your skin care. You'll thank me in 40 years...hahahaha ❤💚💜💙💛
    p.s. Love ladies retreats. My Mom and sister and I used to go with our church years ago. My sister has moved and our Mom passed so I haven't been in years. When you mentioned it Wow the great memories. I need to look into going again. It's such a spiritual experience.

I only had four months between having my first and getting pregnant again and never felt like I got my "normal" body back. This is tough! I know the feeling of looking in the mirror and not seeing the person you remember yourself to be. It's like a sad goodbye in a way. But we may never be the same, but we can always improve and learn to like ourselves more and more.

    To all of my young ladies or gentlemen reading this; I’m sure you’ve heard true beauty comes from the inside, physical beauty makes many waste so much time pursuing aesthetics instead of what truly matters. Inner beauty’s light will shine thru time, it will never dim. Having superficial beauty on the surface but having an ugly inner self will never be beautiful. So be beautiful from within, shine from within, and be joyful from within; your true thoughts are reflected in your face.

    That’s great your mom didn’t make a big deal about looks. There is a different approach to mothering and I have absolutely no regrets to nursing my babies around the clock and my grand babies are being raised the same way. I’ve often said, I didn’t need as much sleep then and I learned to relax with them in my bed or in a crib right beside mine. That time was so short.
