- I demonstrate how to turn a lovely little twig pot or weed pot. This simple spindle woodturning project is great for beginners or experienced turners alike. The approach I show on turning a twig pot uses a glue block on a threaded wood or metal face plate and can be done without the use of a scroll chuck.
Click here to watch Part 2 • How to Turn a Twig Pot... where I show how to part off and finish the bottom using the old school method as well as using a vacuum chuck.

Really appreciate how you teach us. Explain what you're doing.
I appreciate that!
Great little video. I was going to try some of these this weekend and this was a good video to see. It’s gives me confidence!
Excellent!

I like how the vase very closely matches the pattern of your turning jacket ! :)

I enjoyed this! like your music!!!

Thanks, it is a catchy tune.
congratulations on the sub count your piece in the American woodturner is very good whenever a person can make a tool, in this case a dovetail recess tool it saves money that can aid their purchase of something they cant make the weed pot is something that a guy can get into they sell fast at flee markets when properly displayed
+Tom Palmer Thanks for the comment. You are absolutely right about the display. They sell a lot faster with a bit of weed or twig!
You seem like a really nice person
I try and my wife has been trying to knock off the rough edges for the past 48 years.
Subscribed. Really enjoying your videos. Question Mike, about glue blocks. What glue do you use? I use PVA glue in my woodworking and once set it will tear the wood apart before it will release.
I use PVA when I am not in a hurry. I prefer it to CA for economy and lack of fumes.
Great demo. I have an issue though with the loud music. I had to keep adjusting my volume.
Sorry about that. I used to add music when I was fast forwarding but quit that years ago as not worth the effort.
Beautiful work :). Which tree (species) is used?
Mark Fisher. Ukraine.
+AlfFisher The first scene with the Natural edge one is dogwood. The actual project for most of this was maple colored by fungus from the ambrosia beetle.
+Mike Peace Thank you. Now it is clear.
How long do you let the carpenters' glue dry and do you clamp it?
For gluing a blank to a glue block I might bring up tail stock support and leave overnite. Sometimes I clamp. I not in big enough hurry to run the risk of the glue not curing. If I was in a big hurry I would probably use a hot melt glue gun.
