- Building A Cisco Lab - Choosing An Access Server - Part 1 of 2
If you've decided to go the route of creating your own Cisco lab then you'll quickly learn to appreciate the presence of an access server. This box will allow a central point in which to connect to the console ports of each of your lab devices. This will end the frustration of moving your console cable from device to device as well as open up the possibility of allowing remote access to your lab.
There are many different access server products available, but this lesson concentrates on Cisco's own access server offerings which can be picked up for $125 - $200 on eBay and work very well in a Cisco lab.
My personal recommendations (in order of preference) are:
Cisco NM-16A (requires a modular router)
Cisco AS2511-RJ
Cisco 2511
Appreciate the great explanation of which router (access server) to purchase and how to connect to the access Server. Thank You!
Thank you for speaking in common real world mother fucking language! All day I can't say what I'm thinking and we all really say when clients aren't listening and here you are with, "I don't really give a fuck", and "what a shitty explanation". FOR REAL!
My wife and I were cracking the fuck up! Touche
I'm studying for CCNA and building a home lab. This is great info to know about. Thanks!
This dude is to freakin' kool, why the hell can I learn more from people on youtube than I i can in my damn college courses. I want my damn money back!!!
Dude keep the shit up, it's the only way I'm going to pass my classes.
My opinion: This guys is great. Helping people understand about access routers is very important. He explained very quick something that Microsoft takes two books to explain. Too bad about his language though!!!.., but I still love him. I'll subscribe.
Great Video man...very informative ...love the way you present the material ! ....GREAT JOB :)
Awesome and useful information. Thanks for posting this video.
it takes time for to look for this video, this is the best info ever!
Thank you very much for the explanation!
I got a little scared when I herd the fast forward at about 6::25-35. Your random comments caught me off guard lol. But thanks for the great explanation!
Lmao! Very informative and hilarious! Thanks for keeping the topic interesting!
"...router looses it's damned mind"
I literally LOLed!
Just bought a 2510 and 2512 recently because you just do not see them anymore. Plus, it didn't hurt the bank.
To quote the man: "nice one".
I am very new to CISCO, I was given the Cisco 2511, and i was wondering what can I do with this piece of equipment, what can I connect to it, again I am new and looking to learn.
What other possible devices can I connect to it to learn some of the basics behind Cisco equipment/certifications.
HELP
I liked the information, thanks and you are also very funny.
Hope this guy is well, haven't posted videos for ages. That definition was indeed really bad one :D
Two years later, the prices haven't budged. I was all excited watching this, until I saw how much they cost. Oh well, maybe after I pass my CCNA
Too funny, and informative. Sub'd! :D
Could you post a link to the configuring video for the Access server, Thanks.
"So if the router loses its damn mind..." LOL
