@@electronresonator8882 A home carbon capture device is super easy to make in comparison to a humidifier that doesn't need water. That's star trek level stuff.
@@SNixD : Yeah, carbon capture just needs to grow plankton and use some filter to occasionally segregate it from oxygen, or carbon absorbing rocks. A "waterless home humidifier" needs to either burn something containing hydrogen, or use blatant magic.

A de-humidfier removes water from the air and requires no water or electricity.

@@RobertLutece909 True. But that would require the air to be too humid in the first place, along with making sure the water capture is efficient. There's other stuff, but one thing people have said is what if we could get a device (or even bacteria) that could convert something made of hydrogen into water in a compact way. Maybe combining both would be the best way of doing it, but at best we can only really make a humidifier that also captures water from the outside alongside needing water poured by the user, at least for now. That'd be nice considering the need to conserve water for both financial and environmental reasons, plus just plain laziness lol, since it'd mean needing to refill less.
Just condense it outside and run a pipe inside where you evaporate it. The best thing about that actually would be that the water would be very pure and you wouldn't get water scaling like an automatic setup using tap water would. Very low maintenance but energy inefficient.

The only way I see sharp ever making a humidifier that doesn't require water is if it'll condense water from the air outside or something.

You're just taking water vapor in the same room and putting it back, heck, it'll be a net loss in the room's humidity as it passes through the device without any water in the reservoir.
"But wait! What if it takes the water vapor from a different room or from outside the house?"
Well, then you'll now have to deal with radiators, tubes and/or pipes and the whole thing becomes more unnecessarily complex than it should be for a humidifier. Plus, there's no guarantee another area would be more humid than the room itself, you'd probably just end up sweating in the end.
Gas heaters generate water vapour as a part of their burning process, and so called ventless ones humidify your room as they heat. To that end I guess it's not as far fetched, the only question being whether it's actually safe and useful to do this.
SHARP may just have to discover magic which I see as an absolute win

Miko's mom out here complaining about 30% indoor humidity being too low while I'm in Colorado thinking the current 15% humidity in my home is pretty dang comfortable compared to earlier in the year. Sasuga an island nation.
I mean I'm in England which is technically an island nation but every time I've gone on holiday abroad, the first thing I notice is how stuffy the air is compared to what I'm used to. Warmer temperature might be a part of that but I'm out here thinking "why would anyone want to make the air _more_ humid?" Can't stand when it's all... muggy.
@@Harkz0r Yeah, the UK has the unique coalescence of proximity to major ocean currents and high latitude leading to relatively mild (if sometimes miserable) weather. I also hate high humidity, especially after bathing, but when the air gets too dry, I get cracked skin and a ton of nosebleeds.
