What I loved about the series and movie was how normal they treated LGBTQ+ relationships, identities, and people. I feel as though most media actually harms the image by making everything so... Extra. Those coming out and finding themselves freak-out, people who are newly exposed to LGBTQ+ people also freak-out, and sometimes most media tends to exploit and encourage it (not always intentionally). This was a story about a vampire and a nosy young lady, not about what someone identified as. When I came out, three of the most important people in my life simply said "Ok", and I can't express how good it felt to hear them say that. They treated it like it was no big thing while I was internally freaking out, and it helped me accept myself. I love the sense of normality in the midst of extraordinary circumstances in Carmilla.
I'm pretty sure there will be a sequel. There were some hints in this film like Mattie and Carmilla talking about a road trip and at the ending, the subtitles showed something like "to be continued" but with question mark. So let's just hope for the best!

When I started watching Carmilla (the series) every episode left a smile on my face because you could literally feel the heart and thought that was put into it. I couldn't have watched a better queer series for the first time because from the fandom to the cast and everyone behind the scenes there was and is always positivity and love! So thank you so much to basically everyone 😂❤️

So 5yrs later and just discovered the movie through Amazon Prime and subsequently scoured the internet to find the original series and this channel. Also had to rewatch the movie (not that I'm complaining) to realize there was likely bonus content. Fingers crossed that there is a second movie or even some spinoff series as those would be equally entertaining.
