Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's: A series about underground and professional motorcycle racing in a cyberpunk future... that someone took a big ol' mallet to in order to insert children's card games and ancient magics. Yet, somehow it works and is awesome. :)
Nightfans especially since Yusei’s deck was based around using common cards that people thought were weak to their fullest potential. Only a few of the cards in his deck are actual “rare” cards, like Stardust Dragon and a few of his other tuners and synchros, but other than that his deck is composed almost entirely of low level monsters that he supports using various spells and traps that might otherwise be useless in any other deck. It’s a really cool idea to have the protagonist’s deck be built in such a way, as it reflects both his personality and the overarching moral of the story, which is that no matter who you are or where you come from, everyone has value.
Card cames have a lowkey classicism system to it so it works fantastically for cyberpunk especially if said classicist society works off of something abstract like a card game.
Whenever I hear this song I get this strange urge to reach for the sky. It's just so uplifting and energizing. It's also nostalgic as hell, obviously. Time really flew by faster than I ever thought possible.
I was born in 2002 so yes I was old enough for the original series but 5DS is what really got me into it and allows me to understand this shit. My first Yusei deck with a ghost rare majestic star dragon got stolen in middle school but I’ve managed to rebuild it almost entirely. Love the show and game

Gurtington yeah that's true but 5ds was my favorite. Yusei has had to deal with some of the toughest situations of his life which included fighting his own friend. Dealing with the past and dueling a being who came from a ruin future where monsters attacked and destroyed it because of Synchro Monsters.
I like the way they showed what has happened to Satellite after the experiment that caused the Earthbound Immortals to wake up. It was pure isolation from the mainland on what happened, lives were lost in the process, the people living in poverty relying on spare parts, people’s scraps and junk just to survive.

Naoxehn So I would watch Gurren Lagann. There's a lot of great anime, but this isn't one of them. It's ok, and good by yugioh anime standards, but watch stuff like Hunter x Hunter, Soul Eater, Full Metal Alchemist, and Mob Psycho 100, they are objectively better action anime. If you want another game anime I believe there's No Game No Life, which has some spectacular visuals.

I still wonder why they never went back and dubbed in the missing episodes at any point for this or GX, but I’m not the one who makes those decisions so I don’t their reasons.

The 3rd season of this show was all I had from basic cable. But I still have so very fond memories. I just wish I could duel my brother before he passed.
This brings back memories... it’s a shame that it never got fully dubbed in English. This is why I hate Zexal, everyone high up at 4Kids wanted to go to the next big thing. They skip what could have been the best season of GX and before they got to the Meklord season, which explained Bonds Beyond Time and actually had flashbacks to it. If I’m not mistaken, Yusei calls out Yugi and Jaden by name in that episode.
5Ds was cut extremely short due to lawsuits and such, not because of Zexal Usually they cut it right at the end because they wanna rush If you wanna blame someone, keep it at 4Kids for pissing off TvTokyo
2023 i remember always loving yugioh 5ds, i love thia theme song so much it makes me feel so connected to my friends and family, and so free at the same time, its like i can feel the breeze of the wind pushing my back pushing me forward to a new and unknown horizon, and there is nothing but excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead. While also remembering everything that brought me to this point, its both somber and relieving.

Anyone here remember how the CW let the fans vote for which song to use for the opening of this? I actually did vote for this song but there were three songs written for this opening by different artists I believe and I always wonder what the reception would have been if one of the other songs were picked.
Normally when a song hits the chorus it's faster/more intense, especially for a shounen show like this. Oddly enough, here they use the opposite approach: the chorus is surprisingly mellow yet still uplifting. It's really quite lovely.
I do like the show after you learn to accept the idiocy that is the "speed dueling". But it is distracting when your Yusei sounds exactly like Tristan and Jack sounds like Aussie Bakura
+Shadow Surion Raikaze the English voice dub of Yusei is the same who did Tristan in Yugioh, and the English voice dub of Jack Atlas is the same as Bakura in Yugioh but with an Australian accent.

I remember being 7-9 years old watching this and at the time through those years I was with a foster family.. But back then before we went into school we would have to go sit in our daycare for about hour and a half before school so it'd be like yugiho 5 D's and Pokemon diamond and pear in those days... Yes I feel very nostalgic and I'm gonna be playing this over for awhile lol I just need to feel this..

Duel in Peace Takahashi
This brings back so many memories.
The 3rd season of this show was all I had from basic cable. But I still have so very fond memories. I just wish I could duel my brother before he passed.
This brings back memories... it’s a shame that it never got fully dubbed in English. This is why I hate Zexal, everyone high up at 4Kids wanted to go to the next big thing. They skip what could have been the best season of GX and before they got to the Meklord season, which explained Bonds Beyond Time and actually had flashbacks to it. If I’m not mistaken, Yusei calls out Yugi and Jaden by name in that episode.
4th season of GX would’ve been FIRE

2023 i remember always loving yugioh 5ds, i love thia theme song so much it makes me feel so connected to my friends and family, and so free at the same time, its like i can feel the breeze of the wind pushing my back pushing me forward to a new and unknown horizon, and there is nothing but excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead. While also remembering everything that brought me to this point, its both somber and relieving.

I actually did vote for this song but there were three songs written for this opening by different artists I believe and I always wonder what the reception would have been if one of the other songs were picked.

Normally when a song hits the chorus it's faster/more intense, especially for a shounen show like this. Oddly enough, here they use the opposite approach: the chorus is surprisingly mellow yet still uplifting. It's really quite lovely.
I do like the show after you learn to accept the idiocy that is the "speed dueling". But it is distracting when your Yusei sounds exactly like Tristan and Jack sounds like Aussie Bakura

the English voice dub of Yusei is the same who did Tristan in Yugioh, and the English voice dub of Jack Atlas is the same as Bakura in Yugioh but with an Australian accent.

I remember being 7-9 years old watching this and at the time through those years I was with a foster family.. But back then before we went into school we would have to go sit in our daycare for about hour and a half before school so it'd be like yugiho 5 D's and Pokemon diamond and pear in those days... Yes I feel very nostalgic and I'm gonna be playing this over for awhile lol I just need to feel this..
