Congrats on the award! I always enjoy your videos. I’m chomping on the bit to start my first original sculpture with a proper mache base but I’m currently working on another project that has my attention. I designed an original unicorn species that I will make a head bust wall sculpture with its horn made out of clear casted resin. I’ll be using some of your recipe in parts of my project . Won’t be able to start till December. My top layer may be apoxie clay over the air dry clay. Still figuring it out.
Congratulations for your "UA-cam silver button"! You're one of the "bestest" as a toddler I know would say! Thank you for all that you share with all of us so nicely.
Dear dear Jonni, I have just happened upon your fabulous channel. Oh boy, what can I say. You are most fantastic lol. How long have you been an artist. I am about to make your air dry clay recipe. Anything you use, I will use, if you told me to eat it I would. Lol. You must love animals, one because the creations are fantastic, and two, you have a lovely kind face. I am 70years old, live in Australia, but wish you would adopt me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, art and time to show us(the masses). Kind thoughts are going your way. Sherie Rodrigues 🤗🌟
Hey hey ! I too was wondering what had happen to you ! Regarding the silicone and starch its been probably a year from now that ive been using it to make casts (of doll faces mostly ...) but without the food coloring. As you've said yourself its perfect to keep details and dries rather fast! I'm glad to see you online again and congrats on the silver thing! From your Portuguese friend, Pedro ;)
Yeah - it took a while for this old lady to paint a very small house. And the windows, and the gutters ... I was too pooped at night to do any sculpting. But now I get to do some fun stuff! :)
Perhaps if you permanently stiffened the 'bear fur' and molded it over a slightly cylindrical shape before fully drying, it would stand fur up enough to make a deeper impression in the silicon. Thanks for the video's. Always fun and inspiring.
I want to try this sometime. I am thinking of trying to make one with texture to decorate. some clay to look like leather for some pieces I would like to try. Thanks so much for this tip.
I've seen someone put the cornstarch and the silicon into a ziplock bag first - mix it up in there - then pipe it out of a cut corner. Might be worth trying to make it less messy? Love your videos by the way!
Great to see you again Jonni! Thank you for your hard work 👍 Well deserved 💯💯K recognition 🏆 🎼🥳🎻🎵🎸🎊🎺🎶🎷🎉🥂 Greetings from Greenwich London ⚓️👁💂♂️🏰🐎🎩☔️🍀🌹
There is a dish soap and water with silacone way of making molds as well. Probably not best for furs but would work on more solid pieces (good for molding around items). I use to use this method & let silacone cure on item (few min) and then cut free item with exacto knife (if its fully surounded) or pop it out. Then to get rid of silacone stink, so you can stand using molds after I'd sprinkle baking soda on mold & stick in cardboard box add extra baking soda in box close lid & let set for a few days up to a week. Clean item used for impression with soap & water.
Congrats! I've tried something similar but it is a learning curve. Have you used magic foam? It's a foam u heat then press into a texture to create a stamp. You can reheat it multiple times. Don't know if it would catch the texture of the fur though...
@@UltimatePaperMache they are available on Amazon for around $7. Search for: CLEARSNAP 462346 Magic Stamp Moldable Foam Stamps, Blocks. Hope they work for you.
Thanks. When I started this ten years ago, I though there might be fifty people out there who would be interested. It turns out that our little community is a lot bigger than I expected. 😀
It should work, if the original that you use for your form is very flat, so the inked portion will all hit the paper at the same time. I haven't tried it, though. If you do, please let us know if it works. 🙂
Congratulations on your 100K subscribers! I have seen videos where people used the silicone but with water and washing up liquid instead of the cornstarch, but that looked messy too.
Question. Do you use more than one camera to get the different angles ? I’m hoping to eventually do my own channel. Or do you have someone filming you.
Maybe, although it wouldn't have the cracks going in the right direction. I think it would be possible to use oil-based clay to sculpt small sections of rhino or elephant skin, and then make some stamps from the clay models.
Question- Can you create a recipe for applying your paper mache to skin for costumes? I need to make dragon skin that is almost skin tight and flexible to move around and not to be awkward being too solid
No, I can't. No paper mache product would work for that purpose - if it dries out it will fall off, but not before drying out your skin, too. There is a product called Dragon Skin, made of silicone, that might work. I've never used it myself, but there are probably some YT videos that show how it's done. The product is available on amazon: amzn.to/33pHSET
@@UltimatePaperMache thanks anyway, I was hoping use bandage as a base then the papaer mache but off you say it'll dry out too fast, I'll take your word for it

Can you answer me? Which method is better for making complicated dragon mask, paper mache paste or newspaper? Im beginner and I’ve made 3 masks already that turned out not really good, the newspaper wast sticking out and the clay was really hard to sand and I glued paper to it
For masks I think the newspapers and paste work best. It does take a lot of patience, though, to get all the little edges stuck down tight. And you'll need quite a few layers to make the mask strong enough.
Hello how do you buy your art, I do another art form and would just like to buy a finished piece or painting from you. I went to your web site and no mention of your finished art for sale??
I don't sell my finished art. I sell patterns so people can make their own, and I have several best-selling books about sculpting. I keep my own sculptures, or give them to family and friends. But thanks for asking. :)

I have made this successfully without any colorant and just ordinary silicone! it's fun to made molds this way and cheaper
