Thanks, this is the video that I needed. I'm waiting on the vcma part before I start taking things apart. I hope the flaps aren't sticking. I'm hoping to avoid a whole new manifold. Great video . Take care ..
I got mine working without replacing and this video helped to troubleshoot and narrow it down, mine was just stuck after 150k miles ...”replace the top end of the engine” my ass ...lol
@@hmarmobiletech8332 Well, that lasted a day ...so what could be going on? Motor benches/works good, no resistance to flaps/easily opens&closes, and pump on other side seems to move good too. Code changed from “P200A Bank 1 sensor” to “P200A runner performance” ...this is nuts man, how can everything work but still throw a code, I’m assuming it’s the ECU reflash answer for me ...can’t stand Kia/Hyundai, last one I’ll ever own, classic theta engine piston slap starting as well :/ 2011Kia Forte EX
@JC Gible inside the intake manifold? There’s a bar that’s connected to a metal flap that covers all 4 air ports, it’s connected to the actuator motor on one side, I don’t know about the other, thinking that’s getting stuck or something causing mine to keep throwing the code, even tho now it says p200a “performance issue” code instead of original p200a code
@JC Gible ok cool, plz do. Cuz this has killed the last 3 inspection tries, I’m thinking it’s also the ECU, I’ve been reading the ECU is known to throw false p200a codes, even though everything is working correctly, and you have to have the ECU reflagged at a Kia dealer, which is my next step. But ya lmk if the new manifold works out, not a lot of info on this and a lot having this problem

Hi , I liked your video and wants to know if the VCM on 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe have the same VCM you are showing in this video. Does the pin # for the motor is stillpin4/pin5? , I would like to try and drive the VCM motor manually to see if it’s stuck.
Thank you !!! your your awesome video! I have one one of those off of a 2011 hyundai now. it is showing that code. I put 12 volts on the motor contacts and it rotated both ways > i was wondering what my next move was going to be. that vcm cost over $200 in canada. but as your saying if the ecm is not reading the correct position it will show a fault code . I move the shaft and it moves freely show I'm thinking its the positioner inside the motor. I'll spring for the new motor.
So my 2011 kia sportage 2.4 have code p2006 R+R the intake got free up last about 2 weeks light back were best place to get intake do you have part number
Great write up. But now the question is, what was wrong with the intake? Your Variable intake solenoid and "hamster wheel" wasnt broken or binding. Your VMCA opened and closed as necessary... so what was the "failure"? If i was the customer and brought you my intake, and you showed me all those tests, Youd have a hard time justifying a new intake. what would you have done to repair the "bad" intake?
MAKING TOO MUCH CHATTER AND BEING TOO DIRTY CAUSING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER TO NOT PERFORM WELL ENOUGH TO SATISFY THE PCM. SEE THE R AND R VIDEO I MADE. Yup, agreed. I pulled my sensor, confirmed all was in working order, put it back together and voila, no more CEL. I’m sure it was just a combo of old connections and just that tiny bit of something jamming something up ...regardless it’s fixed and I can now get inspected and this vid helped :)
i replaced the vcm on my optima 2017 and i keep getting the flashing or solid CEL p200a, I replaced the manifold gasket with no change, what else can I check or clean?
So in your repair video you say the VCM is broken but did you actually find what was broken with the old one in this video? If it’s just from being dirty like you claim in comments can it simply be cleaned and reinstalled? Working on this issue myself now on a 2015 sonata.
It’s either the VCM or the intake in broken inside.. Those are the common issues with p2004/p200a and so on.. In this case the person wasted hundreds of dollars for replacing the intake..
The VCM alone actually costs more than the entire manifold assembly that includes the VCM so I get why replacing the entire assembly is actually a better option.

@JC Gible what’s the verdict? Still have that CEL? I can’t get mine to stay away, some days it’s off for awhile but it’ll come back :/

Awesome video! Hopefully my sons will get fixed soon.
Good luck!
Thank you very much for this video. You can also use a 9 volt battery to actuate the motor. This is what I did to confirm mine was working.
Thanks for sharing
Yeah thanks for sharing the information. 👍
Thank you sir you have a new subscriber and your like 👍
Awesome, thank you! take care Oscar Rojas my man👍👍

You can just move the plunger up and down and see if the light will go out. Sometimes it’s just stuck open.
cool😎 good tip, ty

theres are 2 vcms on the intake. did you replace the 2nd?
@@Ificommenttrashthenitstrash theres 2? are you 110% sure ? where is the 2nd one located?
im sorry, i forgot the engine liter is 2.4l. The one im reffering to is 2.0L N/A.

How do you build that circuit?
IN THE FUTURE I WILL MAKE A VIDEO ON IT🙄
Thank you for this video you really help me and made me day
You are so welcome!
What is the part number for the solenoid?
