I think that 1st inning run they just scored shows where Arraez would provide value. After a leadoff double you just need a hit to score that run. Having Arraez in the 2 spot gives you the best chance at getting that hit. Luckily Tatis was able to move him to 3rd and Jake came through with the ball in play to score the run. But I dont think anyone would say they wouldn't have Arraez in that spot trying to get that hit or even just putting a ball in play than Jake.
@@tacobellcall911 you wouldn't have to give up Salas, but you would have to give up some decent prospects and the Marlins would probably be looking for pitching something the Padres are pretty thin on.
The Padres simply don't have any clutch hitters. They have some guys who can have some nice totals at the end of the season but those totals don't mean they came in clutch situations. Is there any Padre hitter that you actually want to see up in a clutch situation? Of course not. Fernando and Manny haven't done any damage at all and I don't think there is any way in hell Jake is a number three hitter. This lineup is horrible but unfortunately it's the best the Padres can offer at this time. Tommy Pham probably couldn't hurt this lineup but he certainly isn't the answer, he's only one man and on his way out at that. Who would the Padres give up in order to get someone in a trade that isn't making much money but could still help the team? Kim is the only player on the current roster and the only other alternatives are prospects. They would have to be some of the top prospects in order to get someone decent in return. What a mess !!!
