I’ve always loved the hell out of this song and felt like it was underrated! This is how I always interpreted the video: It starts with her seeing that male teacher flirting with the blonde teacher. The lyrics suggest she’s pining after someone so you assume its the male teacher (cuz society trains us to expect hetero stuff first). But then you realize the male teacher is actually probably her step-dad or at least mom’s boyfriend. But then in the end you see she has a photo of the blonde female teacher. So everyone in the story is a bad liar. Teenage Selena is lying about her feelings for a woman teacher and lying to her mom about the male teacher’s behavior (by not telling her). The male teacher is lying about his flirtations. The mom is lying to herself because she clearly knows something is going on. At least that’s how I see the video!
