I think I got into this “gentlemen style” culture since I was 5 years old. I used to see my Italian grandfather wearing a suit and tie and nice shoes, well trimmed mustache, and always trying to imitate him. My mom always show me photos as a kid using my grandpa ties. I think this is not just trying to look nice but is a culture and shows respect to others when you dress well. I follow awesome style connoisseurs like Fabio Attanasio, Luca Rubinacci, Andreas Weinas, Hugo Jacomet, Lino Ieluzzi,Kirby, and all those guys but man the one I got the most inspiration and authenticity is you. I think I’m ready to start with my blog soon and I’ll share it with you so you can give me your feedback. Many thanks for inspiring me.
I’ve been following this blog since it’s infancy, Brian, you don’t know me but since I’ve been a follower I’ve done nothing but boost my confidence through boosting my style. I’m a better me now. We’re talking 6/7 years bro. And you’re getting better. Thx -Dwayne
Dear Mr. Sacawa, You look smart as always. The navy blue is my favorite color. It’s atemporal, classic, elegant, sophisticated, cool, trendy and never is outdated. For my, the color blue is sign of good taste and make me feel very good and sure in myself. Thanks for your wise tips and congratulations, one more time, for your channel!
Very nice selections. I especially like the tie width. Substantial but just right. Alas, I am suddenly reminded that I work from home and so does nearly everyone else who once dressed well - at least it seems.
You pull this off well. I am not so sure that a man my age can pull it off, but I do have a blue and white striped shirt with contrasting white collar and cuffs that I get a lot of compliments on. Especially when I use silk knots for cuff links that bring some interest if paired correctly with the tie. When I wear the silk knots, my pocket square is always white linen, which I think looks best with navy blue. It is just a personal preference. No, I am not looking for a "pop of color," a term that makes me crazy, rather just some visual interest with the silk knots. Thanks for this video. It makes me think of other things I can do with the navy blue suit besides the serious business look
#4 is the reason I like autumn and winter clothing. I can not wait for roll neck weather! My personal favourite is burgundy roll neck with ox blood leather jacket. Granted a very diffident aesthetic from this premise but along a similar monochromatic look.
I'm colour blind to hues. That is I only see primary colours Red, Blue, Black etc. Any change to that & I has no idea. So I've been using a monochromatic approach to clothes for a very long time. This video & channel is just outstanding. It's become my gospel to clothes. Thanks, Brian. If ever you're in Australia, the drinks are on me.
Monochromatic is the Future. It's where I been putting my Design Ideas & Choices in Clothing and Decor. Yes you do know where the next step is. Great Look on heading into another Level. High Five | Right on ; )
Very great vids to see. Just bought a navy suit (dark blue). Perfect with white shirt. I’m giving it a try with the dark turtle neck. However, I also want to combine with a dark shirt with tie. A dark blue shirt/tie or better black shirt/tie. Love to hear your opinion.
Hey Brian, been going through a stressful patch recently, but your videos are one of the few things that I extremely look forward to. Sounds generic but it's true. Love love love your content.
Great as always, Brian! Surprisingly, my favorite look here is #4 - I guess I'm just too used to seeing/wearing the classic suit & tie look, and adding the turtleneck was an interesting tweak! It would be great to see a video on "aggressive" pattern mixing sometime. You know, a series of put together looks with three (or more?) patterns that match perfectly together, for example. Thanks again for your hard work and inspiration!
I feel your production value has risen up in the last couple of videos, I really like it! As for the looks - the turtleneck one does seem very intriguing and sophisticated. I'd admit you've already featured a similar combo in one of your earlier videos and I've since integrated it into my wardrobe - I really like that one. Waiting for a Speedmaster review video ;)
Hi Brian. Solid video. I like your general style, and I hope you keep it up. I'd like to ask you a question, something that's not necessarily related to this video, but something that I notice you and other men's fashion vlogs will mention from time to time. Why are some men's fashion vloggers/influencers/etc so into the 'functional cuff buttons'? Why is that such a distinct mark of 'quality'? According to what I've read, they're more historically meant to function for surgeons, before they moved from wearing suits literally everywhere to adapting more practical scrubs and more stringent hygienic practices in the operating room. By this logic, the people who most deserve to wear functional cuff buttons would be medical professionals, no? I will counter my own statement with the fact that watch lovers such as myself will wear a diver's watch without being a proper diver. In that train of thought however, I would tell people I love my diver's watch because I love what it can do, not that I use its robustness in the way that it was intended. I see a lot of guys reviewing suits saying something different about functional cuffs. They don't say "I love these cuffs for the history they represent", but rather they say "I love these cuffs because they are a mark of quality". Do you really think they're a mark of quality, or that they're a mark of men's fashion's history of functionality?
I always get shocked when I see your denim shirt. How structure and dressy that shirt is! Many denim shirt on the market are casual and low quality with a narrow collar.
Hi Brian, quick question. With shoe trees should I leave them in my dress shoes long term (months at a time) or only for 24 hours after wearing them? Thanks - Trevor
Could you please specify the shirt worn in your last outfit with the collar pin and the french cuff? Instantly recognised it from Mathew McConaughey's character from The Wolf of Wall Street.
Wow Brian great video yet again! I'm going to have to find a time and place to mimic look #4, such a relaxed yet sophisticated look. Just wondering but do you think navy dress shoes/sneakers be too much of a statement for these looks? Anyway I think a lot of people do not consider white and/or black as colours when doing monochromatic looks so we'll give you a free pass here (j/k) :) - Han edit: Forgot to mention I love the intro bit, I imagine it's a lot more work than finding appropriate stock photos but really adds to the video!
For me, yes, navy shoes would be a bridge too far. Appreciate the comment on the intro. Doing our own stuff has always been what has separated us from the herd, IMO. Sometimes it's hard to conceptualize, but that one just came to us.
On the Prince of Wales Check tie, is the color of the pattern silver and black? The reason I ask is because I had a dilemma when choosing my suit combo for today. I was going to pair a similar tie with a navy suit and brown shoes, but didn’t because I wasn’t sure if the colors would mesh well.
Sir, I would like to see a breakdown outfit video for suit what are the options we have when it comes down to wearing a suit as seperate are there any exceptions or its just not possible. Would love to hear it from the OG in the game.
It's possible, but it depends on the fabric of the suit. Check out many of my other outfit videos and you will find lots of examples of how to break a suit into separates.
What about the shoes? You seem to wear only black shoes (or very dark brown) but would other colours, such as oxblood, work? Great video and I subscribe a previous comment to see the same video with a mid-grey and a charcoal suit!
Love # 2 and 4. I’m itching to add a chambray dress shirt and a turtleneck to my rotation this fall.

This should be a new series, less is more. We hear a lot about it, but rarely see it put into action. Great video.

Hey, you did it! You found a way to nail the Gordon Gecko.
No suspenders though.
This is right on time. Fall will be here soon and I just purchased a new navy suit.
Sweet! Congrats!
dude i love the navy grenadine tie with the chambray shirt definitely stealing that fit
Excellent video. I just got my first suit and I’m planning a dark blue suit for my second suit. So versatile. Thanks Brian.
You're welcome. Thanks for the comment and congrats on the first suit.
Do you still have that navy pinstripe suit? It would be cool to see a video dedicated to pin and chalkstripe suits.
We actually have a navy chalk stripe in the collection.
That turtleneck combo was killer! 👌🏾
Many thanks!
Great video as always, Brian!. I think the suit 5 ways videos are my favorite ones of yours. Looking forward to more for charcoal...

What is the collar called in the last outfit? I do own a Winchester shirt and with a similar collar. But it’s a Club/Piccadilly collar.
It's a pin collar.
Ah, mercy.
All very nice, except the last look. The suit is so dark (thought it was black), a lighter tie would be nicer (or lighter jacket).
