The fact that Zhongli is heralded like the 2nd coming of Jesus by casual players and is dismissed as a downgrade by min-maxers just shows how balanced of a unit he is. He'll carry your ass when you're less skilled and your characters are weaker, but in optimal teams, the only place I can think of rn for him would be Itto mono-geo
I'm hardly a geo fan, i only use two geo characters, but I'll say that in some niche occasions zhongli or double geo is actually pretty great. Zhongli is a decent slot on quicken teams if you can't put a healer, and he actually buffs dendro. Also my dendro/electro characters are decent, but I'd not be able to make a good enough quicken team for the abyss if it weren't for the geo resonance. My zhongli is just shield bot, he uses the 3* hp spear and triple hp artifacts, his dmg is shit, but I have a pretty invested f2p albedo, and using them with yae and tighnari is better than if I went tighnari nahida yae fischl in dmg and survivability. Overall I do agree with you, but depending on the account he can be an upgrade in specific scenarios.
Vast majority of HT double hydro uses him even if you can squeeze more damage out of XL or Kazuha, vast majority of Yoimiya teams use him, also still used in most Xiao teams, often used with wanderer, often used with Eula (Raiden + ZL + Rosaria/Shenhe), used in melt Ganyu but melt Ganyu isn't optimal most of the time. The most meta teams are still the ones where you have a healer role consolidating an other utility but he's rather good in many/most tier 2 teams.
If you have enough damage to clear with 3 units, he's still tipically the BiS flex Also the petrify is very handy when it comes to mobile enemies like the beasts
I would say Tighnari is the most well designed 3.X character. There’s nothing about his design that makes you go “why is it like that?” At least that’s imo.
i agree wholeheartedly, his kit has a very clear goal in mind of unloading dendro damage through charge shots and his burst and he works pretty damn well to achieve that
@@mia_2043 I looooove Nilou’s Bloom playstyle, and as well designed as I think it is, I understand that it has some questionable restrictions. Like, imagine if you still could have bountiful cores but with more than just Hydro and Dendro units. You could have an actually viable fridge team, or a Bloom team with electro charged for even more AoE, maybe even some Bloom + Burning shenanigans cuz why not.
@Franz William they're talking about the weapon equip option. So the trailblazer would still be a sword user, but if you switched from geo to dendro the weapon would change from HoD to favonious sword.
@@Feathertail2205 In HSR, every characters have their own weapons. The system HSR has that is like weapon system in Genshin is Light cone. For HSR MC, they have something similar to Genshin MC that change element, but the big difference is HSR MC change Path(role in the team), element and weapon.
Mfw when the Hydro Twink gives Dmg Reduction, healing, resistance to interruption, great energy generation and top tier off-field damage and hydro application despite being a 4star
@@demonicflame632 Unironically i think a C6 XQ is straight up better than a C0 Yelan in 9 out of 10 cases But then Yelan has arguably the best 5* constelations in the entire game
@@maxxvii2037 true, i think the same. more hydro application, interruption + damage resistance, little healing while being buyable from the shop. the only reason reason i would pull her is if i absolutely need another water dude in my account otherwise childe is just better as the second hydro applicator.
Baizhu being a catalyst makes sense if we're talking about "fantasy of playing as that character" because in the lore he is physically weak, even weaker than Qiqi (presumably with her seal on) so I don't even know if the guy can swing some swords before coughing up blood from the movements needed lmfao
I mean, you're right. But as far as design goes, they can work around Baizhu's physical weakness,. Kaveh is a good example. He is one of the few characters in the game who are not physically formidable. Even after a few meters of running, he keeps gasping for air, and wheezing, like wise if you climb with him. His greatsword is levitated by his sentient suitcase, and he only grabs the handle during the plunging animation (and then he proceeds to shake his delicate artist hands )
@@pepita2437 thing is what do they do with Baizhu to make him able to use the weapons to compensate their strength? Kaveh has Mehrak's assistance but is Baizhu going to lend Changsheng's strength or is he going to channel his weapon with some medical shit
I like he is a catalyst user, but damn, they could atleast give him some range. Dude literally poking enemies to death. And his charged doesnt have good targeting either.
i think i agree w the zhongli take. he's literally a lifesaver for glass cannons and people who just want comfort. but you sacrifice a whole team slot for that. he's still great, just balanced. i still farm artifacts but i do also play for exploration, events, and i save quests/hangouts. i do wish there was something more for endgame though 😭
Ok, maybe i'm weird, but the last time I "grinded" (7/8 runs total) artifacts, was to get new artiafct 2-piece for nilou (the 20% max hp one). Other than that, for the past 5-6 months, my resin is either maxed or used for boss materials to level up random characters. When I stopped farming artifacts like it's a main point of the game, no cap, I started to enjoy the game much more. I log in, do dailies for primos and save for characters I like (focalors). I explore for a bit, 36-star abyss, maybe try it with different teams if it's a fun rotation like the last one, and log out for the day. I was so burn-out when I was farming artifacts everyday, but now I really enjoy the game, which is surprising.
@@Eclin and as I said in my comment, exploring (I take it pretty slow these days so I still have two new desert ares to fully complete), leveling new which is some time of farming mobs/plants around the map, and obviously events (although they are boring most of the time).
Unironically i understand you. I genuinelly enjoy walking the overworld and trying new comps with different chars. I only differ you about the abyss part, because i dont like it too much, so i tend to just go floors 9/10 and some of the 11 for primos. So the time i spent farming artifacts is really low, i kinda wish they would give more options at least on leveling up them, i wish i could try more options without having to grind for days/weeks
Not so weird because I pretty much do the same thing, I'll only farm artefacts when a new set drops and it provides meaningful improvement compared to my existing loadout... I've completely stopped grinding artefacts on a daily basis, most of the time my resin is capped I'll login do the dailies, run around in an area I haven't explored if I have some extra time to play and that's it... When abyss resets I'll 36 star it and maybe try to "speedrun" any of the floor 12 chambers I find fun... It's been way more fun like this rather than to be disappointed after spending your days worth of resin on garbage and strong boxing the garbage for garbage...
Many people (especially meta players like Zajef) may be against horizontal investment but having more built characters unironically makes the game more fun and can make you experiment & experience different teams
I think the problem with Alhaitham is that he would have literally just been a Dendro Keqing if they allowed him to have a burst playstyle, and then people would complain about Hoyoverse "not being creative" and "ripping off" other character kits. He isn't as flexible as his original kit, but I think that's a good thing.
people's complaints is what hoyoverse cares about the least.. i think it's fair that he requires more actions than Keqing because his damage is also better than her
I don't think nahida is the best designed, but they for sure tried making her so much better than other catalyst users. Mainly her normals have good range while being aoe and not having travel time. She can have on field presence without needing to do charge attacks, so no stamina issues. Low e cooldown and sub dps on e so not burst reliant. Different ways to apply her mark with tap and hold. Compared to Klee, Ninguang, and yae they just made her feel so good to play and not feel clunky
Nah, her normals have okay-ish range. There are worse catalyst users when it comes to normal range, like Barbara, but she feels shit to play as a driver. Her charged attack has a longer range, but takes too much time and it's not that much longer. Actual good normal range is Kokomi. You can shoot far with them, which is why Kokomi with her normals and E is amazing with Nahida in 2D2H NilouBloom. Nahida's E covers everyone in dendro, Kokomi can cover most of the field using her E (with Sac) and normals as a driver. This solves the problems with spread enemies until we get a hydro or dendro grouper.
Yes. I would still play Genshin because I didn't start playing the game for the combat. I started playing for the exploration and story. And I still have a lot of exploration to 100% and story to complete, on top of getting achievements (and subsequently achievemnt namecards). Artefacts and combat are just part of the reason I'm still playing.
I really want the hydro traveller or archon to summon rain with weather mechanics with their burst (it does no DMG but gives unlimited aoe hydro application over the entire arena) & gives stats to on field characters like Nahida's shrine of maya.
7:35 I'm already running into this issue myself, my characters are so strong and so well invested that i'm struggling to find anything meaningful to do with my resin, and thus sometimes when i log in i just don't use my resin because it doesn't feel worth it anymore. I know it sounds insane, but the only character i don't have that i currently want is Wanderer, and i've already prefarmed everything for him including his artifacts, so there is no one left for me to farm, and i have so many abyss teams geared up and ready to go that i don't need to farm for anything else, it's legitimately frustrating, but at the same time it feels nice to be "free" from the resin grind, i no longer feel guilty about not using my resin properly because I'VE ALREADY DONE SO for 2+ years !!
More than half the kits released these days are so redundant that there is no incentive to get them. The characters can be enjoyed through their story quest so there are very few people who get them for being a simp these days. I am so fed up with the kits that I am planning on returning next year during the Hydro Archon's rerun. Get her, catch up to the quests when there's little drama in the community, collect some primos and GTFO to return for Pyro Archon's rerun.
@Nancy K Ikr? But people wanted supports and shtted on dps characters and this is what you get, I don't see the point, mihoyoverse don't want to make strong characters anymore so making extremely niche supports feels really redundant when we have broken supports already. Dps don't always work either especially the quality of kits have gone down but most of them were good, like Tighnari, Wanderer, and Alhaitham. The only one that was meh was Cyno but he works in certain builds. I just want fun characters but apparently that's too much to ask
I haven't looked for better Artifacts for a while, and I still log in every day to do my commissions and spend resin on something (books, exp, mora, weapon ascension materials, etc). I do it to gather primos and materials for any future unit I want to build. I rarely get units when they are new, I mostly get them on reruns. So by the time the rerun comes along I always have stuff prepared for them and ideas for teams I want to play. The fact that the game only requires about 20 minutes of my daily time (of which 15 I do at work) to keep up with it is the reason I'm still playing. If there was an endless daily grind that required playing like 3 hours a day I would have burnt out and stopped playing forever.
As an alhaitham main who also kept up with his beta cycle, im honestly really happy with what we got. his raw numbers pre nerf were just too good, and if he were released in that state he would actually have been more of a dendro keqing than he is now- a burst dependent dps with low field time reqs and infusion. having him require more on field time, deal perfectly good personal damage, and require at least a bit of skill to get the most out of is really nice imo!
I agree, while I don't like nerfs because im so fcking tired of subpar units I was confused by people's reaction before he came out because his dmg on paper looked good still and he ended up being good and idk why Zajef sees his field time as an issue, I rather have an unit with a fun play style with good enough field time than seeing a character I like for half a second when I swap them in do a skill or burst then swap out, what's even the point? Alhaitham is amazing and it's my favorite dendro and favorite character released during the sumeru patches. Now if only I can have a tall dendro female unit with a kit as fun as his or just a fun on field dps tall non geo/physical female unit, it's been forever since the last one and I'm dying of thirst here bro lol and I had to wait even longer because while I absolutely love Shenhe she's a off field support so she doesn't count, while I like Raiden and Yae gameplay wise, They suck story and character wise imo, and Yelan is fine but she's mostly supposed to be used as a support, so I've been waiting since Inazuma
Best designed and balanced character in 3.x is Wanderer. Has actual overworld utility (may be overpowered in that regard), doesn't do massive damage-just good damage, has a lot of drawbacks to access his power, can be used as a carry or driver. Isn't particularly reliant on anything to do his job or be useful in some way. Best balanced character in 2.x is Yoimiya, but she's not the best designed for two reasons; Her talents are designed for a loop so she won't get the best use out of them first cycle and she's a fireworks character with no aoe. However, her personality is 6*s. There is no good 2.x design character though. Surely, there is a best, but I'm just putting one on top of a mountain of trash. To that end, it might be Gorou. He's just fair, and his kit doesn't contradict itself at any moment. I won't go over 1.x my opinion isn't that valued to warrant typing so much lmao.
7:29 I would because I still have a lot to do and that I enjoy doing. Genshin Impact is a whole open world game, you don't just load into a menu asking which stage you want to play. I don't binge all the open world content, I like to chip away at it every now and then so every time I log into the game there's still some part of the world I haven't seen yet or a quest I haven't done yet. In fact, I feel this way about Star Rail instead: I've explored every map and the only thing left to do is farm relics and the weekly SU grind. It's not fun to just explore the world like it is in Genshin.
The part about artifacts being the only reason a lot of us even log into Genshin nowadays hits hard. I'm playing Star Rail alongside Genshin, and over the past 1 and a half months, I've just been farming artifacts for Nilou. I did do a fair amount of exploration and quests, but it's been hard trying to get back to the grindstone and be motivated enough to catch up to everything alongside Star Rail. The combat drought in Genshin just makes it less appealing than HSR atm if you don't have the time to explore or do long quest chains. Hoping that they do something about it in 4.0, but I don't have expectations.
@@Forakus I'm on my 86th active day since Star Rail's launch, and I'm still playing it every day. I still like the combat, but I do prefer Genshin's overall. I've made a lot of progress on my backlogged quests, but I'm still nowhere near close to completing all of the quests and exploration. If I saw your comment a few weeks ago, maybe I would have agreed, but I've been building fun characters since reaching TL60, and I've found the combat more fun than Genshin if I want a more hands-off style gameplay when I'm busy with IRL things.
@@kiuhh1118 I don’t have nahida as I don’t really like her playstyle, I know Alhaitham’s cons aren’t really needed or game changing, it’s just that he’s my fave character so I want to get his cons over time :)
@@MrGshinobi I personally don’t really like her playstyle, maybe I’ll go for her in the future if her banner isn’t paired with another character I want as I had to skip her last two banners^^
For many people Genshin isn't even a game really, just a hobby, a virtual collection app, so yeah, they would still log in daily to get primos anyway. Many of those who DO treat it as a game do not care about the Abyss, so the time they spend farming artifacts is limited to getting proper main stats on proper sets with substats that are just not complete ass, that's plenty enough for the overworld and don't take ages to do (unless we are talking about EM headpieces).
Unless you are speed runner or min-max for screen shot and can already clear abyss, ZL is most likely the best character to use. Even before the buff, I already used him as the shielder. It negates all the skill issue or all the interruption to my rotation. After the buff he has he res down on his shield which is like 10% dmg increase for the team. It is not significant but nice to have. However the main point of not having to worry about your health/stagger and interruption still persist to this day. I am fully aware that just slot in Sucrose will net my team quite decent damage on paper but I still choose ZL as universal "VV" and defense character. With him everything is just much easier to execute. Many many people are not very good at the game or care about proper rotaion/i-frame. With him being in the team can be the different between being able to deal damage freely or just keep getting down which can be considered a hidden but significant damage boost for the team.
Baizhu s been really good for me this abyss. Basically I had to jugle him between chambers and put him where my team was struggling, He's like Zhongli was for me in 1.1 but dendro.
The reason I still play the game is to build characters. I always prioritize leveling my characters before farming artifacts, that's why I only have about 65 +20 artifacts on my characters right now. that's about 12 characters with full artifacts
It's crazy that they haven't really brought any other complex character like Tartaglia with different stances, an unit where you can't just go unga bunga and actually have to think of what you do.
@@destructo3457 if you unga bunga with Alhaitham and not time his mirrors properly, his high dps goes off a cliff, the way his mirror uptime is segmented also means you can play and segment his uptime into bits if needed (eg. Haitham + Yae) If that's not more complex than rotating Childe than idk bro
Bruh, if I didnt have the need to farm for artifacts and have perfect characters, I'll play the shit outta abyss with every single team I could think in the moment. The only reason of why I don't play abyss more is cuz I dont want to go changing my artifacts between characters.
After I realized I'd spent 4 months farming artifacts and hadn't gotten a single useful set, I just stopped playing Genshin except for speedrunning events lol It's so sad that a game with such an amazing foundation goes out of its way to make the lives of the players miserable. Boring dailies, verbose quests and events, annoying "endgame", unrewarding farming. It feels like it would be easier for the devs to focus on what matters, exploration and combat, but they insist on spending time making walls of text, brand new gameplay activities for 2 minute events, and domains for shitty relics they expect us to spend months doing over and over and over again for pretty much negligible results.
Right now in genshin ive leveled every character to 70/80 and have good artifacts, so im stocking up on mora and xp books, and if im feeling like leveling someone to 90 I switch to that (recently leveled thoma, really good for this abyss)
Can we talk about how you can't change characters for a few frames after Ayato Q? I want to do Ayato Q > Nahida E but it almost always goes as Ayato Q > Ayato E lol, animation lock is real with my boi
They could ( maybe even *should* ) reduce artifact RNG while increasing the game's difficulty (overworld encounters and stuff like the Abyss) accordingly to the _new_ expected damage floor - just like they kinda did right after Hyperbloom became a thing (they _expect us_ to be able to output _X thousands of damage_ without major problems due to Bloom reactions' easy of access). Damn, maybe give *Canned Knowledge* (the one we get from Dori during an Archon quest increases the MC's base ATK by 3 permanently) to use up to a limit on everyone or something.
Yes. To do dailes. Cause it's what I'm doing now lol I can't even remember the last time i stepped into an artifact domain As an og player, even as a f2p, I have pretty good artifacts to the point where I can stop farming for artifacts until a new one comes out that peaks my intrest.
I had the same problem what zajeff said to ayato when im using bhaizu. I cant move or change another character seconds after he's finished his ult animation idk is this bug or what.
Its must be a bug, coz i never noticed that issues. Ayato have history to being tied to ping and fps tho, maybe someone who has problems with that might get that issues.
They clearly designed it that way to specifically target triggers that are also on-field, i.e. Cyno. That Baizhu is perfectly serviceable as a hyperbloom or burgeon driver regardless of that means that he probably would have been too strong the way you guys want it.
"be honest" i have 58 characters, not including the traveller. got half a dozen new ones in the last couple of patches, and am working towards getting the rest to F10 and built to a decent level. in fact, it's taken so long to get them all levelled up and talents built that i'm almost looking forward to farming artefacts again to sort various characters out. if i wasn't getting new characters at a reasonable rate, then yeah it definitely gets dry.
I stopped caring about grinding artifacts, abyss, and honestly I even stopped caring about the story which was the best part for me. That´s why I almost never play Genshin anymore. I´ll try to come back a few days before Fontaine to complete the legendary quests I have left, and to see if Fontaine reignites my passion for the game. It is the same in Star Rail, I honestly don´t give a fuck about Forgotten Hall, I´ll just wait till I can farm to max efficiency and build strong teams and then I´ll just do it for the Crystals.
Prediction for hydro traveler is healer with shitty hydro app through skill/burst only while on-field. When I initially heard that Candace was going to be hydro I was hyped since I thought to myself "Surely they can't fuck up a hydro unit since it's such a strong element" but lo and behold they actually managed. I suspect hydro traveler will be Candace tier, but with free cons that don't give us any off-field application. Dendro traveler was a fluke and HYV didn't intend to actually give us a good free unit, but they underestimated how strong dendro reactions wound up being.
Nahida is the best designed 3.x character. Runner ups are alhaitham, wanderer (for exploration). Any other answer is troll. Baizhu is a terrible answer and zajeff was being a contrarian (like usual). He probably just said baizhu on a whim without thinking it through. He doesnt mean baizhu, not at all. Man doesnt even own baizhu, he doesnt want baizhu cuz he's bad design and is (his words) a sidegrade to yaoyao...
I don't think i can agree. Nahida's kit design is just unhealthy for the game. She has the best AoE consolidation in the game, very high numbers, EM buff comparable to sucrose, is insanely easy to build, and most of her damage can be done off field. Her only downside is the fact that she isn't always optimal in aggrevate teams, and that's cuz they overbuffed her dendro application.
@@musicaddict9058 Basically. You could even go as far and say that she holds back Dendro just as much as she allows Dendro units to excel at their ceilings. I don't think she unhealthy overall for other unit as they can get better support down the line but for Dendro, Hoyo pretty much puts a cap for it just like they did with Freeze releasing Shenhe. Even if a Dendro Buffer were to one day be released Nahida would still have the edge for Battery and superior off field DPS rendering the overall Team DPS void. And for vertical investment for DPS units like Alhaitham, her C2 might also beat that buffer. Dendro situation is actually very similar to Geo, in that the only way for your carry to go further now is to beat Nahida which I can't ever see happening otherwise Hoyo as to release a stronger Dendro DPS that Haitham down the line. Dendro is strong tho unlike Geo and as a fake "flexible" moniker to it on the surface. Speaking of Dendro, Hyperbloom and Burgeon despite how strong the former is are also a prison in that they force you to get 3 specific units (Dendro, Hydro, Electro/Pyro) to function, this looks good initially but further look over it and it can be seen that a pure Hyperbloom/DH Burgeon (Dendro, Hydro, Hydro, Electro/Pyro) or QuickBloom/DD Burgeon (Dendro, Dendro, Hydro, Electro/Pyro) are the best alternative for competitiveness locking every slot. Making it less flexible and more prone to shield counter and specific enemies. Easily counterable, not as much as Nilou but still nthing to right home about. Dendro has to be Hoyo best designed element and reaction given how well they can control everything about it.
7:29 Ya i have no motivation to play genshin right now even for daily because i dont like Fontaine character design (at least those in leak) and i have good char, unreplaceable artifact to get 36star in abyss. I hope they make genshin great again in 4.0 otherwise ill leave genshin
Without having seen the video i'm guessing the character he picks is either dendro MC, nahida, or alhaitham EDIT: oh wow i wasn't expecting him to pick baizhu, that's cool. my personal pick would be nahida for sure, she just feels fun to play, strong and highly versatile, she's been in most of my teams since her first banner came out and i haven't gotten bored of her at all, she's great in both abyss AND overworld which i appreciate a lot.
Nah L opinion on Alhaitham. Sounds like this dude just want another in and out run of the mill Genshin kinda character that they’ve been pumping out for 2 years. He’s the only one recently with a kit with any built in nuances
@@luminous3558 Then swap out? You're not being forced to stay, or just play characters with little field time. Idk about you but I like playing with the characters I really want to get for more than 1 second lol
I still remember zhongli before the beta "nerf". Not sure how good he is comparing to his current version. As far as I remember, the res down used to be on his Q and his Q base kit stun also lasted longer. That was all I knew. Not sure about other design of him that got changed.
Hoyo's current priority is to make TCG the end game people wanted for so long, people who enjoy combat and exploration have no importance unfortunately.
i non ironically think dehya's kit design is really good like a character who's a tank not a shielder who takes the dmg but also has a way to hit back is really cool u coukd choose between a tank that helps with reactions or a dmg dealer that helps the team survive and all the problem is that her numbers are so damn fucking bad that she does none of this
But a design problem isnt a comercial problem, artifact system works just fine because even though we critizice it, we still farm artifacts, we still fell for it, and thats 90% of what we do in the game when there is no content. That aside, yeah we have some pretty unbalanced characters, but abyss twelve is just as unbalanced if not more, at least for the great majority of players.
I just log in once a day to do dailies and farm my 4 artifact runs. I already have great substats and have 36* since launch. I just do it for no particular reason. Main game right now is Deep Rock Galactic, Genshin is just a way to pass time.
Hard disagree on Zhongli being balanced. His shield is leagues above almost every other shielder and the only other character that comes close needs his burst to do so, whereas Zhongli just uses his skill. He also has over 100% uptime and he's geo so he only needs one other geo to further boost his shield with geo resonance, whereas almost all other shielders need 2 of their teammates to be geo to get that same boost. And even if he's generally an offensive downgrade, compared to all other shielders he's an offensive upgrade due to his res shred. Literally Zhongli's only problem is that he's a 5-star, which still has the silver lining of having guaranteed pity whereas 4-stars don't.
Idk man I didn't find use for Zhongli for a long time. Also, needing two geo characters is a bad argument because it removes you two spots for potential elemental reactions. I think Zhongli is extremly balanced, it's hard to die with him, but you need better investment in the rest of the team to compensate for the dmg loss. Without the res shred he would be underpowered.
This would be true 2 years ago. Players who pay attention to attack patterns don't even use shielders. Especially after Dendro came out, forfeiting a valuable team slot for Zhongli is just too much of a waste. He exists in exactly 2 comps now which are Hu Tao and Mono Geo, everywhere else and he'd just be a downgrade. I've had him benched for a year. The amount of investment required to have Zhongli in your team vs having any elemental applicator is night and day, and this is coming from a player who isn't shy to pull on weapon banners and spend 3 months to build 1 character
Thing is, players that take meta into account don't really need the strongest shield in the game. Most shielders either have healing (Diona, Baizhu) or are slotted into teams that don't need it Layla in freeze, Thoma with Xingqiu, Kirara in quickswap Keqing). The best thing about shielding is the interruption resistance, which even Baizhu's paper shield can give you. On the other hand all these characters give you things that Zhongli doesn't. Be it elemental application for reactions or buffs, in most teams Zhongli's res shred isn't better than what the others can do. I don't have Zhongli and I have rarely ever felt the need to pull for him, the only times being with Klee or Eula (but I am building Layla for her)
You just answered it yourself lol he's an offensive downgrade if you don't need sustainability but if you do then he's an upgrade compared to other defensive utility
@@Stulejon Hu Tao/Xingqiu/Albedo/Zhongli was a common Hu Tao team before Yelan and is still perfectly viable, and so is Yoimiya/Xingqiu/Yunjin/Zhongli. Almost no other shielder can justify being paired with 2 geos just for geo resonance, especially since it means the shielder has to contribute to reactions which almost none of them are good at, but Zhongli only has to justify being paired with 1 which is a lot easier. I'm not saying it's a major reason that I think he's unbalanced, it and his uptime are just minor extra reasons that push him even further beyond what I'd consider balanced.
I mean, would you do ANYTHING if you feel you are not getting something out of it? Even deciding not to do anything and just stay in bed is driven by the comfort you will get. It's a really redundant question.
Wasn't almost every 2.x character basically press a button do more damage I think that's lame and would rather have a failed project like dehia than 2.x character design
Nah, if anything like that its mostly become "press button to your main dps do more damage" 2.x is there they started to make niche characters like Shenhe, Gorou and Yunjin and those characters define some interesting teams.
i still think zhonglis offensive power for certain teams get overlooked. the 20%res shred with 4pc archaic petra can be a good option instead of kazuha if you need the shield for interruption resistance and/or benny healing somehow isnt enough for certain floors. not better than kazuha, but better than alot of people give him credit for imo
Would be nice if artifact grinding doesn't require your full focus for 30s-1m just to shove shitty stats to your face. At least now we could recycle garbage to become garbage of another set but realistically speaking it doesn't feel any better than before.
You could literally cut Xingqiu's damage in half and he'd still be one of the best characters in the game. It's insane to me that they've let him, Bennett, and Xiangling continue as they are for so long without nerfs
Nerfing a character in gacha games is taboo The only way to "nerf" them is by releasing content that makes their existence difficult. But let's real, it's impossible to get of Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling this way lol
7:30 TCG, teapot and lore yes that's not for everyone and I'm starving for endgame but I still log in every day because of those. This update has been fun for me because I like the Sumeru characters and just started TCG. Still, fix your game Hoyo it's at bare minimum rn. Edit: I main Zhongli, he's not balanced lol but the Kokomi meta countered him I agree on the Alhaitham part. He's okay but could easily become irrelevant with tougher enemies. I wouldn't be surprised if they want you to pull his cons and weapons to keep him viable.
my problem with the aritifact system is simpyl i can only do it 4 times a day as free to play. I gotta pick and choose wether to level utaletns weapon level or artifcats. Its so gay. If i wanna grind one character a day let me ffs. Theres nothign else to do anyways.
I don’t see what Zajef is talking about regarding alhaithem. At WORST your a cheap dendro driver for HB and act as a second Nahida for your account in those teams. What is he even on about honestly. The burst doesn’t need to do big numbers it needs to refresh your mirrors and it does that.
You kinda missed the point Iirc, prior to his release, his damage had a different distribution, and it made a sort of quickswap ult nuker playstyle more viable with him. The point is *now* to just refresh his mirrors, but it previously allowed him to be played outside of a strictly on-fielder role Jus clearin it up
@@internetontheperson7550 I really doubt the ult woulda been strong enough for c0 haithems to do much more then an on feild one. Now a whale one? Yea probably. It doesn’t even apply much dendro.
Zhongli being "balanced" falls apart instantly when considering literally any content besides spiral abyss. He sorta ruined the game because "the boss can actually kill you" isn't even in Hoyo's design space anymore. Slapping a timer onto a challenge is the only way to make it challenging anymore.
I mean abyss is our only endgame there's no reason to consider balancing outside of it because what u want from any char just changed and dmg is never the sole focus anymore. like xiangling is meta as fuck but if u want to use outside abyss criteria she just feels like shit to play in overworld bcs things die so so easily and you'll never get Ur burst back as much
@@do_cyx Right right, according to theorycrafter Youbters the game consists solely of logging on twice a month for 10 minutes to do only floor 12. It doesn't matter if a story fight with months of buildup is made trivial by a "be invincible for 20 seconds on a 10 second cooldown" button. Because that's not abyss floor 12, the only thing that exists.
Literally doesnt have anything to do with him. Have you ever stood in a full hp build bennet ult? Or any healer for that matter? Zhongli is good but don't act like he is unique in completely removing difficulty from the game.
@@luminous3558 In the current abyss 12 I've stood in a Bennet ult, and gotten frozen and died. And gotten knocked out of the circle and died. And just gotten hit by three things really fast and died. And swapped to a character with low health to heal them in the Bennet circle, and died. Then I replaced Raiden with Zhongli on that team because I was playing badly and needed easy mode where player characters cannot die. And Bennet is the strongest defensive character that existed before Zhongli, who came out in 1.1. In 1.0, Qiqi was seen as a top tier character and people spent money on the standard banner to get her. Like with Bailu in HSR now, which is a hilarious case of history repeating itself.
@@TheEgalisator you're acting like kokomi benny and a lot of other characters don't make it easier, do you not have zhongli or something it sounds like you're just salty
If you have enough damage to clear with 3 units, he's still tipically the BiS flex
Also the petrify is very handy when it comes to mobile enemies like the beasts
Cyno team and Xiao team
@@Forakus objectively false
I would say Tighnari is the most well designed 3.X character. There’s nothing about his design that makes you go “why is it like that?” At least that’s imo.
Definitely my favorite unit, his quickswap playstyle is so fun🤌
Yessss
i agree wholeheartedly, his kit has a very clear goal in mind of unloading dendro damage through charge shots and his burst and he works pretty damn well to achieve that
Nilou and Al Haitham are my favorite playstyles but I still have to give it to Tighnari because he's close and doesn't want Nahida as much
@@mia_2043 I looooove Nilou’s Bloom playstyle, and as well designed as I think it is, I understand that it has some questionable restrictions. Like, imagine if you still could have bountiful cores but with more than just Hydro and Dendro units. You could have an actually viable fridge team, or a Bloom team with electro charged for even more AoE, maybe even some Bloom + Burning shenanigans cuz why not.
It would be cool if every time traveler changes elements, they change weapons as well. They could just auto unequip their weapon when changing
Well you’re in luck, star rail already does that
@@Yokie05 Wait really? How do you do that? I always have to manually change MC's weapon.
@Franz William they're talking about the weapon equip option. So the trailblazer would still be a sword user, but if you switched from geo to dendro the weapon would change from HoD to favonious sword.

all i'm asking them to add is the ability to change his element WITHOUT GOING TO THE STATUE, star rail already does this !!

The only 3.X character I was interested in was Dehya... Yeah...

Rip in pepperoni my friend
So basically still just abyss, ok lol

Try to get a life, that should do it
@@ziodyne7774 You first :)
@@Rex13013Hope Arlecchino would provide you with onfield Tall woman dps

I won't go over 1.x my opinion isn't that valued to warrant typing so much lmao.
i thought it would be Ayato since he's probably one of the most balanced units the game.
I think Hydro Mc will be a version of Electro Mc where your given energy recharge but instead they give a percentage of their hp

After I realized I'd spent 4 months farming artifacts and hadn't gotten a single useful set, I just stopped playing Genshin except for speedrunning events lol
It's so sad that a game with such an amazing foundation goes out of its way to make the lives of the players miserable.

7:30 yes. TCG. And im not even kidding
Damn, maybe give *Canned Knowledge* (the one we get from Dori during an Archon quest increases the MC's base ATK by 3 permanently) to use up to a limit on everyone or something.

i do agree about baizu on his buff should have been for whole team instead of current character
They clearly designed it that way to specifically target triggers that are also on-field, i.e. Cyno.
That Baizhu is perfectly serviceable as a hyperbloom or burgeon driver regardless of that means that he probably would have been too strong the way you guys want it.

I wish they had made baizhus normals be him chucking vials at enemies that explode for splash damage.
If they don't give us competetive MC kits, at least give us regional skins/costumes for the Traveler..
i think that they changed alhaitham's burst quickswap design because they didn't want it to be too much like tighnari
7:29 Ya i have no motivation to play genshin right now even for daily because i dont like Fontaine character design (at least those in leak) and i have good char, unreplaceable artifact to get 36star in abyss. I hope they make genshin great again in 4.0 otherwise ill leave genshin
Try to stop watching leaks and crying bitches like zajef, maybe your experience will be a bit better ;)
I don't mind Alhaithams restrictiom to being on field cause he's hot
Without having seen the video i'm guessing the character he picks is either dendro MC, nahida, or alhaitham
EDIT: oh wow i wasn't expecting him to pick baizhu, that's cool.
my personal pick would be nahida for sure, she just feels fun to play, strong and highly versatile, she's been in most of my teams since her first banner came out and i haven't gotten bored of her at all, she's great in both abyss AND overworld which i appreciate a lot.
Nah L opinion on Alhaitham. Sounds like this dude just want another in and out run of the mill Genshin kinda character that they’ve been pumping out for 2 years.
He’s the only one recently with a kit with any built in nuances
he's rlly not flexible tho lmao
I love being locked into 1 character for extended periods of time
@@luminous3558 so instead you wanted a literal carbon copy of keqing but dendro?
@@luminous3558is this sarcasm
@@luminous3558 Then swap out? You're not being forced to stay, or just play characters with little field time. Idk about you but I like playing with the characters I really want to get for more than 1 second lol
I still remember zhongli before the beta "nerf". Not sure how good he is comparing to his current version. As far as I remember, the res down used to be on his Q and his Q base kit stun also lasted longer. That was all I knew. Not sure about other design of him that got changed.
He has no Res shred. And his hold E is easy to be interrupted. That's all the relevant changes.

I wonder, can EMC work in-place of razor in thundering furry?
no
It's just worse
No not really, Electro aplication is too slow + you lose out on overload dmg
It came up during a stream not long ago, it's actually considerably better than people would expect, but still worse than Razor
I'm not logging in for "Better" artifacts, I'm logging in for "good" artifacts.
Can't hit 50/100 or 60/120 with enough ER on most characters
Which stream was this one guys? I want to hear more about this discussion.

This abyss was the first where I tried watching Zajef clear it
I chose a wrong one xDDD
Hoyo's current priority is to make TCG the end game people wanted for so long, people who enjoy combat and exploration have no importance unfortunately.
i non ironically think dehya's kit design is really good like a character who's a tank not a shielder who takes the dmg but also has a way to hit back is really cool u coukd choose between a tank that helps with reactions or a dmg dealer that helps the team survive and all the problem is that her numbers are so damn fucking bad that she does none of this
The be honest part...cant agree more..
Ive always hought same way and i feel most ppl realize the reality
Get this precious man to work at HOYO, his ideas are limitless
Zajeff is my favourite designed character
7:30 haven't grinded artifucks since 3.5
Ive just been farming to get everyone to 80 ascended and prep for Fontaine
Its so boring, someone help me
Wasn't almost every 2.x character basically press a button do more damage I think that's lame and would rather have a failed project like dehia than 2.x character design
Nah, if anything like that its mostly become "press button to your main dps do more damage"
2.x is there they started to make niche characters like Shenhe, Gorou and Yunjin and those characters define some interesting teams.
i dunno anything but the general rule of thumb is that hydro skill MUST have a long ass CD lol
Guys, which do you think is the best kokomi team?
Bloom
0:36 considering that all archons are supports and mc is always a worse version than the archon than I don’t think he’ll be a carry
1. Wanderer
2. Nahida
3. Tighnari
based take.
mfs in hoyo really said "lets make 12-1 even harder"
i still think zhonglis offensive power for certain teams get overlooked. the 20%res shred with 4pc archaic petra can be a good option instead of kazuha if you need the shield for interruption resistance and/or benny healing somehow isnt enough for certain floors. not better than kazuha, but better than alot of people give him credit for imo
Would be nice if artifact grinding doesn't require your full focus for 30s-1m just to shove shitty stats to your face.
At least now we could recycle garbage to become garbage of another set but realistically speaking it doesn't feel any better than before.
Yoimiya>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the rest of the game
on field hydro traveler could be a childe replacement
Gets asked about goid design
Brings up green keka but male and green Thoma but worse
You could literally cut Xingqiu's damage in half and he'd still be one of the best characters in the game. It's insane to me that they've let him, Bennett, and Xiangling continue as they are for so long without nerfs
Nerfing a character in gacha games is taboo
The only way to "nerf" them is by releasing content that makes their existence difficult. But let's real, it's impossible to get of Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling this way lol
Hydro mc is definitely a healer. Pyro mc will be a dps.
This didn't age well😅
7:30 TCG, teapot and lore yes that's not for everyone and I'm starving for endgame but I still log in every day because of those. This update has been fun for me because I like the Sumeru characters and just started TCG. Still, fix your game Hoyo it's at bare minimum rn.
Edit: I main Zhongli, he's not balanced lol but the Kokomi meta countered him
I agree on the Alhaitham part. He's okay but could easily become irrelevant with tougher enemies. I wouldn't be surprised if they want you to pull his cons and weapons to keep him viable.
What stronger enemies? Lmao
7:47 NO
I just want my haytham to get good artefacts
my problem with the aritifact system is simpyl i can only do it 4 times a day as free to play. I gotta pick and choose wether to level utaletns weapon level or artifcats. Its so gay. If i wanna grind one character a day let me ffs. Theres nothign else to do anyways.
My comments keep getting deleted?
I don’t see what Zajef is talking about regarding alhaithem. At WORST your a cheap dendro driver for HB and act as a second Nahida for your account in those teams.
What is he even on about honestly. The burst doesn’t need to do big numbers it needs to refresh your mirrors and it does that.
It doesn’t need to do lots of damage, but adapting rotations is pretty cool to do. Plus more front-loaded damage can’t hurt.
@@mkultra1726 he can adapt rotations though just don’t use all yo stuff at once and ration it out
Agreed
You kinda missed the point
Iirc, prior to his release, his damage had a different distribution, and it made a sort of quickswap ult nuker playstyle more viable with him. The point is *now* to just refresh his mirrors, but it previously allowed him to be played outside of a strictly on-fielder role
Jus clearin it up
@@internetontheperson7550 I really doubt the ult woulda been strong enough for c0 haithems to do much more then an on feild one.
