    Very, very nicely done sir!
    Often times it is the little things that shine above the rest.
    Minimalistic approach is the way to go, especially for "active" playing pieces.
    Collection pieces that have more time spent and more finished details can go on the shelf. But this approach will rival them.
    You mention shades or washes as an alternative, but I have recently been getting great results by doing both. 1 extra step.
    Prime
    Paint
    Wash/shade(gets into the nooks and crannies)
    Drybrush(brings out the highlights)
    Great vid, good work as always!
    Your painted pieces and tutorials are top notch.

      Thanks my brother for your support, you are an amazing customizer in your own right, so your commentary is very much appreciated. Washing is an amazing technique that can help with adding further detail to a sculpt. I almost feel bad for not really explaining in greater detail. Maybe I should have incorporated the wash as well, but I
      Wanted to make a tutorial video that would be easy to follow and that my viewers would be able to use with ease what they learnt.

    thanks for doing this! Just an FYI for future videos...placing your hand or a piece of cardboard immediately behind the sculpt will allow for near instant focus.

    Heya, I watched this video the other day and today I got a bit of free time to try out the technique. I'm really pleased with the way that dry brushing brings out the fine detail of my sculpts. Also, I developed a technique of running a charcoal pencil across the sculpts to mimic a subtle metallic look, and the dry brushing hasn't filled the led pencil/metallic effect at all. So far it's a perfect marriage. Thanks for the tip!

    Lauren and I started painting our pieces earlier this week because we were stuck in the house due to a snow storm. We'll post a video of the painted pieces with their house rules and footage of the snow storm soon. I started a new job as a sublimation printer a few weeks ago, I need to contact YG and Siredblood about printing out their maps. I can do it on a variety of surfaces. Cheers!🍻

    Seriously, i paint miniature for at least 20 years and the best quality for that king of work is Games Workshop OR Vallejo color (both water base). Straight out of the pot, no mixing!
    If you want the ultimate (but more time consuming) result would be to put a thin layer of black ink in the recesses, let it dry and then do your drybrush!
    Games Workshop have a huge selection of what they call ''shades'' what used to be called ink! Go for ''Agrax Earhshade'' (kind of brownish) if you want that look of dirt on your tank!
    Don't hesitate to contact me Dtroy for pictures of what i did in the past and more tips ;)
    P.S. Btw keep on the good work!

    I am looking to paint some pieces from historical board gaming for the global war 1936 game. While looking for colors I have found some that seem to match well enough for me but, what finish should I be aiming for? Flat, matte, eggshell, satin, semi gloss or gloss? I am not nit picky about my pieces so long as it is clear which nation they belong to. That being said, I would prefer to keep them as close to the original Global 40 colors as I can.
    Any info anyone has would be appreciated. Colors, brands, finish etc. Thanks in advance for those that reply.

    in another video I saw ships with tan painted decks? Did these ships really show tan wood decks, or should they just all be left dark gray??

    • @axisallies-thegarrison2533
      @axisallies-thegarrison2533  4 роки тому

      You can paint all your ships grey with brown colored decks. But, that would make it difficult to tell them apart, so sometimes you have to sacrifice historical accuracy so that you can play the game and not get confused.

    • @fredjensen1683

      @@axisallies-thegarrison2533 I only play the Europe and Africa campaign, so I think the only ships I have to specially mark are the germans.
      But, I was really asking all these ships are so tiny that in reality would they not really all look gray and not show the tan wood decks??

    • @axisallies-thegarrison2533
      @axisallies-thegarrison2533  4 роки тому

      Well if that's the case you should have no problem. All you have to do then is paint the decks of your ships with different shades of brown resembling different types of wooden decks. I suggest, that you use desert sand beige/ with a dark brown to get different shades of brown. You can also mix dark brown/ with a mustard yellow. These color combinations will help you. Don't be afraid to experiment. You will have to experiment and see what color schemes work best for you...

    • @axisallies-thegarrison2533
      @axisallies-thegarrison2533  4 роки тому

      Also for your super structures you can use a charcoal black or grey and then slightly dry brush to bring out the details. For your main Guns you can use a metallic color or grey as well as for the ship hulls.
