    Activated charcoal stops a stomach bug in its track! I used it the last time we got it and my 2year old was fine two hours later, stopped diarrhea that had started the day before. My older kids felt better within hours too! Hope this helps others out there!

    I love this and will share it with anyone who is considering CC. Thanks for sharing your heart! (From a 4 year CC mom who has done Cycles 1-3 plus 3 years of Essentials alongside that and tutored Foundations the 3rd year. And this year we have been doing Challenge A.)

    Mom of 6, directing Ch A, 2 in challenge, 2 in Essentials and 4 in Foundations. Thank you for your honesty opinion. I'm feeling a little nervous about balancing it all. Thankfully my Essentials kids have their class on Mondays and then we all go on Tuesdays so I can sit in on essentials since we've never done it. But it's definitely feeling like a lot. Thanks for the videos ❤️

    We totally get you! We're doing Challenge A this year and it's a LOT. So glad Science Fair is OVER! The only strand we really struggle with now is Cartography. My son doesn't mind learning to label the countries but he HATES drawing it. So my focus is on labeling. I ask him to draw, but what I want him to learn is the labeling. You are doing AWESOME by the way, based on what you said you get it. I couldn't imagine directing with kids in foundations and essentials having never done those myself (we did 1 year of Essentials but no Foundations). Use that network in your community; you'll get through it. Keep up being AWESOME!

      We have been using tracing paper paper. My kids are not comfortable drawing, bit they are getting there.

    This is so good Trish! I am enjoying this video so much. That is exactly what I love about CC- the “stick in the sand” idea- the fact that we don’t need so much in order to educate our kids. I’m so glad your Foundations went so easy. I kept the idea of it being our first year in Essentials in mind as well. First tour = relax into it. We met our Essentials at a bare minimum and only memorized chart A, but focused more on IEW, which is such a wonderful writing program. You have done wonderfully with balancing all of these levels plus directing challenge. I’ll be tutoring next year so I would be glad for any tutoring tips you might have. 😀

    I enjoy your openness and honesty! Thanks!

    I think you really captured it. We've been up and down too this 1st year as I get my footing but I'm learning how to improve. I loved hearing how you implement some things to tie it all together and make more use of it. It's hard remembering that we'll be coming back around lol.

    I've started looking into CC more seriously for next year. I very much appreciate hearing your honest experience because it's hard to know when asking people what if they are telling the whole truth when it comes to CC. Like i don't want to know just the goood...ya know?! Anyway, thanks again for sharing, it was very helpful!

    CC has been highly recommended to me by someone that has met many successful adults that learned through that method. I'm just wanting to research all my options. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

    Trish, are you taking meds for your ADHD? It changed my life for the better. Homeschooling 4 kids 7 years, we have done more in 2 moths than we have have in 7 years! I was so lost in the chaos. We are second year CC, starting challenge A next year, I tutor. You are such a sweet mamma and Ive related so much to a lot of what you have shared. Just wanted to throw it out there, homeschool or not, talk to a doctor about if you haven't. All love you to Mama!!

      I haven't got meds. I havent spent the time to work on that. I guess I need a general dr.

      @@JustSewTrish I went to a Psychologist first for testing and a Psychiatrist for meds. Thats how my insurance works. It was always the running "joke" about my ADHD symptoms, until it just wasn't funny anymore because I was really suffering, everything was. If you really have ADHD its worth taking it seriously. There are specific strategies ADHD brains need to function well. Not just taking a pill.

    It sounds like over all this experience has been really great in multiple ways for you and the children. I'm curious how learning is evaluated for the subjects. It sounds like a portfolio situation would work well with this model.

    I also help with CBS with is a Women's bible study so I am Super Busy. Sometimes I feel my schedule is too busy because I also take my daughter to therapy several times a week and then we have Church. I may not want to do it one day here or one day there but I Love having my kids with me and helping others. I Love your videos and appreciate you doing them. Ali Lewis

    This is My First year in CC and tutoring the 4, 5, and 6 year olds! I have Loved it. My son just turned 6 and I have been working with him at home since he was 3 and then I decided to do CC with him this year. He Loves it! I have a 7 year old in public school but we are taking her out. This coming year, she will get to do CC too. She has Apraxia but is doing much better so I feel she needs to be home with us. She is begging to be home with us too. We were going to wait till the end of this school year but I think we are taking her out next week if not this week. She has missed 20 days of school due to lice issues. We get it gone but then she gets it after being back at school for a few weeks to over a month. Even if she stayed in public school, she would only have 162 days if she didn't miss anymore days due to lice. We are bringing her home and doing the rest of this year with homeschool at home. How would you think this program would work for a child starting in Challenge program who mother works 4 days per week and father at home but with a 2 year old too? Do you think it would be manageable for us both to help him?

    • @JustSewTrish
      @JustSewTrish  5 років тому

      It definitely depends on the kid. My son had the hardest time keeping up. The weeks work will feel like a hamster wheel that they train on. It will fill very repetitive that is needed for mastery. If your child can handle that repetivitness, awesome. My son needs that check off list, never do the samething twice. It was not a good fit.

    It’s our first year in CC too. I’ve got one in Foundations and Essentials, and one in Challenge A. I chose to do CC because I wanted the community and the curriculum. This was our 4th year homeschooling and I was tired of piecing together curriculum. I really needed to have someone else do the heavy lifting for me. I wanted the community support, both local and worldwide. For the most part CC has been a good fit. There are days that I wonder “what in the heck was I thinking?”, (sentence diagramming!!!) and days that I’m glad I made the decision to join. I have come to the realization that no situation is perfect. No curriculum is perfect. Classical Conversations isn’t perfect, but it’s perfect for RIGHT now. We will be enrolling again for the 2019-2020 school year.
