A huge move. Ive been in Auckland for over 14 years now. There is not a day that I do not miss South Africa. The African people are so alive and friendly. I go back at least every 2 years. Qantas is the most direct and shortest route by far.
Wishing you a great future in Aotearoa.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I can totally relate to missing South Africa - it's amazing how a place can capture our hearts, isn't it? The African people's warmth and friendliness are truly special. It's great that you get to visit every 2 years; that must be a wonderful way to recharge and connect with your roots. Thanks for the tip about Qantas - I'll definitely keep that in mind for future travel plans! And thank you for the warm wishes - I'm excited for this new chapter in Aotearoa!

I also relocated from SA as a nurse - my worst mistake. How's the weather in New Zealand. I want to compare with the UK,i hate it here, though it's been more than 3 years. Summer is only 3 months here in the UK. Everyday i want to go back home.

Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling that way about your decision to relocate from South Africa. It's always tough to adjust to a new environment, especially when it comes to weather!
As for New Zealand, the weather is generally mild and temperate, with four distinct seasons. Summer (December to February) is usually warm and sunny, with average highs around 20-25°C (68-77°F). Autumn (March to May) is mild and pleasant, with average highs around 15-20°C (59-68°F). Winter (June to August) can be cool and rainy, with average highs around 10-15°C (50-59°F). Spring (September to November) is a lovely time of year, with mild temperatures and blooming flowers.
In comparison, the UK's weather is often overcast and rainy, with shorter summers and longer winters. I can understand why you'd miss the sunshine and warmth of South Africa!
If you don't mind me asking, what specifically are you finding challenging about living in the UK? Is it the weather, the culture, or something else? I'm here to listen and offer any advice or support if I can!

@@arohaodufu7998 totally agree with you. I still convert almost everything that I buy or see. Maybe soon I will stop converting. At least you go to Turkey and still go back home. New Zealand is beautiful and clean I agree but fact still remains that it's expensive for me. Thanks for the wishes. Totally agree Saffas are full here, in Australia, Ireland, Canada and the UK. Will definitely send you an invitation, thanks. Enjoy your weekend!
