Curators at the Manchester Museum have been left flabbergasted after CCTV footage has shown an ancient Egyptian statue has began moving around all on its own.
The seemingly haunted statue rotates on its base in an anti-clockwise direction, as if looking around the museum's egyptology department with it's own spectral eyes. Egg-headed boffin and artefact expert Campbell Price was the first to notice the 250mm black object had been moving around, but he initially assumed that another member of museum staff had been buggering about in the display case and simply nudged the effigy. It soon became apparent that the statue was moving regularly, either by someone's hand or perhaps supernatural influence.
Price set up a CCTV camera to monitor the statue's display cabinet and the unbelievable footage shows that the statue mysteriously moves all by itself.

The ancient Egyptians manufactured statues like the one in the museum to act as vessels for the souls of the deceased. Could this really be a centuries old dead Egyptian rattling about in a museum display case? Tell us what you reckon could be moving the artefact in the comments section below
I can imagine the ghost just being like "Yeah, I can totally haunt everybody by rotating a statue! I'm the best ghost eveeeerr!!!"
The vibration of the glass + the surface base of statue (i'm guessing that is very irregular) = this effect.
Its not very uncommon...you probably watch other objects move instead of rotating.
And reason why the other statues wont move is simply because the surface base is not irregularly enough to slide/move/rotate with the low vibration of the table.
it could be that that particular statue's bottom is as flat and shiny as the glass it stands on, whereas the other statues are more porous hence provide more resistance to sliding.
This is very remarkable nonetheless, because the statue is freaking turning on itself. It is true though that it seems to move only during day time.
the vibration thing sounds plausible BUT it stops when its facing a certain way , strange , also the fact it never used to do this is also very strange
It is a time elapsed photography covering 7- 8 days, which is fast run to make it 43 second clip. Good trick played by museumwala for publicity and popularity. You can also try at your home , slight move the object when it is totally dark and record it for 7-8 days.
Two Possibilities:
1- Moving as result of the vibration made by people walking around the whole day
2- a nice try to imitate the movie '' Night at the Museum '' they should add that It turns around to face the direction of the pyramids in Egypt, It will be more exciting !!
Yes, and no. You can use a food blender nearby a couple of mugs and only one of them will move from the vibration caused by the blender. I'd say the fact that only one statue moved from vibration is simply because of the surface of the glass on the spot where the statue was. It was just more likely to cause movement there than in the other areas of the glass, so the other statues didn't move.
This rotation of the statue is based on the floor vibration when people passing.
Turn the statue back around, and record it over a period of days and do not have people in the room or near it, and see if the statue moves.
Try this:
glass table (because glass is an excellent vibrations conductor) + a glass cup or mug and use a vibration device (you can decide what type, but a cellphone will do lol) against the table leg. And see the spirits move the glass ;)
No... There's like a bump underneath the base that holds it in a weird position, which makes it move with vibrations.
well, i assume the museum is loving the attention. Otherwise, they could try moving it to another location to if it still moves. (or maybe there are too scared to find out).
Maybe the base of that statue isn't perfect flat which is what is making it turn with the vibration of the floor.
If I was a stolen statue in a foreign museum and if I could move I would have just walk away.
I don't think it's the vibration of the people moving. Why does it stop once it faces the wall and not continue? The others don't move and they seem lighter.
It only moves when people walk past. It's probably vibration moving it.
But she weighs half a ton and can still move. The weight is still not irrelevant.
That thing obviously move because of the vibration, in that case, the weight doesn't count.
If the material has a low friction, the weight cannot stop the statue to move.
There's plenty of reasons that could explain why only one statue moves, just because you can't think of them doesn't mean you should automatically jump to spiritual conclusions. Here's a few possible answers:
the base on this statue is uneven
it's taller than the others
the material it's made of is different
There's three off the top of my head. I'm a chiristan but please, there's a time and place for blaming spirits and this isn't it If all other possibilities are ruled out then think spirits.
And why the other statues did not moves?
And why this statue not moved since when was placed?
I don't think it's vibration. This thing is consistently moving. I find it hard to believe that people are constantly walking past it. If it was vibration, it would pause once and a while during it's rotation. I definitely don't believe it's being moved by hand. To do so would be a daunting task. You would have to constantly opening that case and moving it throughout the day. It's movement is too precise as well. And this has been going on for months now.
It gets shy when people enter the room. \o/
If it was the vibrations why didn't it keep rotating? It only moved to turn away from the crowd! Poor guy is just camera shy
I would happily bet quite a lot of money that the bottom of that statue is not flat.
except it always stops at 180 with it's back facing. the vibration theory doesn't apply to this case anymore. it has to do with the sun and magnetic field.
don't blink : it's a weeping angel!!!
desperate marketing ploy for a struggling museum, a new 'lock-ness' con
It's not going by months it's going by days.
The statue doesn't like all the attention. Give it a break, it's got social anxiety.
I'm not trying to be rude, but when you base things on observations it makes more sense. Friction and/or vibrations seem more likely than some spirit of some ancient Egyptian who died over 300 years ago.
If i said it was tiny people sneaked through the glass and moved it, people would think I'm Crazy. It's almost impossible.
As much as i would like it to be spirits or ghosts as i do believe in them, I just don't think we should jump to conclusions like that straight away.
but y is it movin in a perfect circle if it does move cause of vibrations then shouldnt it move at least a little out of place?
I'm thinking that just possibly it could be a person moving it ...no wait...it's probably ghosts
That museum, this bloody awful ... a catastrophe awaits.
someone is just slightly moving it every few minutes to make a video with one million + views, thats why it's only moving at day, someone's probably coming back everyday, the video is going to fast to se whats happening.
where the hell is ben stiller man? he should go there quick before sunrise.
Its clearly vibration based :)..the others are not moving cause they are joint together.
The other statues are not identical to the one turning.
Its the vibration..
Why does it move only when there is people around
It must be the vibration
Then the others would be moving slightly
How come the others don't move?
Yes Or maybe it's the whole museum which is rotating. What?
infinite energy
So its not Pazuzu? LOL
Suelo de parquet...es muy comun eso.
Se mueve por la vibracion del suelo.
creepy
MALISIMO.
Wind
Not the same material.
Really?
And ? I can totally push my car, even so she weighs 500Kg.
The weight is irrelevant.
Manchester museum on cheap tricks to increase the footfalls
u mean OSIRIS right?
Sweet:D
isnt that a statue of Pharaoh Amenhotep IV aka Pharaoh Akhenaten?
Pharaoh Akhenaten invented Monotheism & worshiped one God named Aten, the Sun God
this video is basically FAKE, theres NOTHING magical here, its only an illusion
what is real is that Pharaoh Akhenaten invented Monotheism, he basically paved the way for Judaism, Christianity & Islam
Torah, Bible & Quran all contain ancient Egyptian hymns, poems, fairytales, etc.
the Biblical Exodus wasnt real but the Hyksos Expulsion was real
ITS NOT HAUNTED I WENT THERE A FEW DAYS AGO, I KEPT LOOKING BACK AT IT IT HADNT MOVED SO THEY ARE LYING!
7 days
Omg
I like reason #4
illuminati is the reason why its moving.....XDDDDD
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
NO!
Its a ghost
pepoles move them
Read the conversation pls? :)
usa internet explorer
ahaha mesmo a sério
O_O
your car is a female?
Fake
does somebody know to what cardinal direction did the statue faced when the vibration stopped moving it?
Not the same material.
This isn't at all spooky - the gradual movement of this statue is probably caused by sympathetic resonance. Probably it just happens to be of the right weight to react with vibrations from whatever source, in this case probably by visitor movement. The effect will take place especially if the base can wobble to any degree.
all you people saying its from the vibration just to point out it stops turning when its facing the other way and people are still there so........
If it was turning because of vibrations, it may stop when facing the direction that gives it the lowest potential energy. For example, if the shelf is a little out of the horizontal and the mass of the statue is a bit unevenly distributed, it isn't unlikely that it may stop in one orientation. I don't really see what the sun could have to do with it, unless you are proposing it is a thermal effect.
Still, I am not convinced this isn't just some stunt to get more people to visit.
British physicist Brian Cox suggested that the movement of statues in the afternoon due to the vibration produced by the steps of visitors: he believes that the reason for the movement was the differential friction when the two surfaces - a stone statue of herself and a glass shelf on which it stands - are slight vibration.
I see in the video that the figure rotates only when it is near the visitors which in itself explains that the vibration caused by steps cause that figure to rotate on an uneven basis and this is not leveled cabinet / shelf...
There's more than only one statue there so why only one is moving? If is based on the vibration of the floor... All statue should move... am I right? I know it depends their weight but I don't know...
The concerned staff may change the place and then check again, whether same rotation is happening to confirm that there is nothing beneath that statue.
sucks how these artifacts are all stolen from tombs and the natives lost their past culture to grave robers. Like this museum stole this artifact.
Question to you all doubters:
"does witches and curses exist?"
No? Then this is a hoax for sure. What would you expect of a video on youtube?
Yes, I call her Cara. (but seriously i'm French and here, all cars are female, don't ask me why, that probably genetic.)
emile its an anicient statue i higly doubt it has wheels LOL
Indeed, the other statues are of different color and they're sitting (different weight distribution on the pedestal).
It's the aliens, they are coming!!! There moving things, making us think hmmm!!! They are coming!!!
lol, he must do that just for laugh when he read all the stupid theory in the youtube comment !
Yeah, is probably a ghost, that make so fucking more sense. You're right, i'm the stupid one...
It still moves a little bit when there are no people in the store
i was just there last week mate oh my days i really cant believe that pip pip cheerie ohh
