I replaced the guts of a Winegard router with a Peplink router, and used the pre installed 360+ rooftop antenna with some adapters off Amazon. Retains the amplified OTA tv antenna and wifi as wan. It's a 4g setup, but most places we've been so far are not 5g yet anyway. We aren't running a UA-cam channel, so it's fast enough for our use. Streaming on 2 tv's, my laptop, and some other gadgets. If I needed more reliable and faster, I could use the bonding feature on the router, as well as add a 2nd sim, even Starlink.
We also use outside antennas and does make a difference! Thanks for sharing this information! Really enjoying your channel because we are very new to RV life. Thanks!
The roof antenna you use 90% of the time - did you install your self?? Considering this option and debating on the ease of installation. Are there people who install for you? Looks like a great option for us.
We have Starlink Gen3 and just completed a 6,200 mile trip. The lowest download speed we had was 120mbps and upload was always between 30 and 33 mbps. The fastest download speed was 320 mbps and we averaged 225 mbps. There was only one campground out of 25 that we went to where we couldn’t get a signal. The monthly fee is $150 for Starlink but when we got home we put it on pause so we’re not charged until we go on our next trip. While driving we rely on our cell hotspot which for us is not an issue.
I think Izzy you did a great job! I think it’s funny you’re doing a video on Internet when I just got done fixing my home Internet issues. 3 times I had them my provider help me. The third time was a charm lol! I’m with you on the cheaper one even though the better one is more money. If I had an Rv I’d get the permanent antenna. Great video Izzy and thank you for the video. All that time I thought MJ had the camera. Let her know I said hello. See you both soon!
I do want to get one of those antennas. I only wish I would have done it before I had the roof sprayed. I agree with you, for the price the black one is a bargain. Thanks for sharing.
@@EndlessRVing That is a great price. Just have to pay to have the flex armor people put it in and respray the area. They said i can install or they can do it, either way same price.
Great comparison video. As I get ready to go full time I’ve been researching cellular routers. Was looking at the peplink 5G but I’ll definitely check out cheetah.
Looks like your router has a 2x2 MIMO configuration, You have only 3 of the Wireng yagis, should be 4 according to their website, that might account for the disparity, although I wouldn't expect alot of difference being so close to a site. The real test is when the site is 10 or 20 miles away, the yagi should win.. Also yagis are kind of picky about how they are mounted in relation to each other.
Go to 9:46 you can see there are 4... positive and negative 45 degrees twice. Yagi's are amazing but yes it introduces a great deal of human intervention which can result in results being lower.
You are just throwing your money away buying the junk that you suggest. Three words Mobile Must Have. Get the Starlink HD dish and the ultimate road warrior internet bundle. Unlike your video were you are sitting in your backyard we are out in the middle of nowhere. We are are sitting under trees and my wife is inside teaching with zoom to people in Europe and I’m watching your BS video on UA-cam. No one puts there router on there AC for signal strength. I very rarely watch your videos but when i do I’m sadly disappointed. My questions is when will you is when will t you come out with something useful?

We get 4Mbps UP/DOWN with our Wineguard w/Verizon, 15GB month plan for $20month as part time part timers. Works for us.
Starlink when we retire.
Appreciate your hard work making this one. 👍
