The HDR-16 is a good DX'er despite a shorter ferrite rod than the PRD-5/15 series. I sometimes use mine with the C Crane Justice twin ferrite antenna. Thanks Todd, Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Todderbert! 660KHZ could be KTNN which mainly has a country format out of Winslow , Arizona if you hear Navajo music included with country that is KTNN. The main reason I would buy the HDR-16 is for the AM HD capability. My CC3 radio seems to by a better AM DX radio, but it lacks the HD decoder. 73! Have a Happy New Year!
I've had this for several years. Love it. (The aux-in jack is great for a quick speaker setup for your laptop/tablet/phone; it sounds really nice. It's got great tonality and a full/powerful presentation.) I also have the WFR-28 (with internet radio), also great.
Hej, yes, the 80s were a cool time with big boombox radios. The really big ones were very heavy, but wow, how cool it was in those days! I miss the 80's big boombox radios. Take care.
@@NTPTM Yes, boom boxes were huge in the 80s. I think that everyone had one. They were huge with those huge speakers. The speakers on this radio sound good for their size.
@alfredindy8058 Hey, you're right, huge! But what a nice sound. You had to sweat a little, but you also got exercise carrying around those boomboxes in the happy 80s. My biggest radio among all my radios is the Tecsun H-501x, and I love that radio. I also have more Tecsun radios that I love. So, of course, I'm a big radio geek, and I buy a lot of radios all the time. I'm often asked, "Have you bought a new radio again?" But it can't be explained; when you have radio on the brain all the time, you could say radio waves flow in my veins. Take care and have a nice weekend.
Hej Todderbert, thanks for the AM band scans. The Sangean HDR-16 seems very nice, and yes, I am looking at Sangean radios a lot right now. The only problem is that Sangean has so many good radios; take care, Todderbert.
I don't understand this video? I thought it was about a AM / FM Only HD Radio and not a Long Wave Radio that can receive broadcasts from other states or countries many hundreds of miles away. HD Radio broadcasts have shorter range then Analog Radio Broadcasts.
Great bandscan, Todd. I think on 570, you were picking up Cuba’s time signal/all news station, Radio Reloj, from Santa Clara, Cuba. I heard ticks similar to WWV which is characteristic of Radio Reloj.
I'm in WV and 30m west of AM 820, WSHE, in Fredrick MD which is digital only station. It's 4300 watts day and 430 night. I have an old Accurian HD and even with a CC Twin coil ferrite antenna it's a challenge to receive.

This is my go to AM DXing radio, used in combination with the Twin Coil Ferrite.
Winning combo.
I use this amazing hd radio every day. I love it love it love it so much. And it’s so cool how so many am stations come in at night.

I think I want it. I would walk down Howard Street with this radio on my shoulder like the 80s.

I still love my HDR 16 over 2 years later

Thank you Nils.
HD Radio never caught on and there's only a couple stations here in Los Angeles.
We have a bunch of HD FM channels near Chicago. AM, nadda.

It is about Evening AM(MW) , and what I can find. No HD stations on AM are available at my location, day or night.
OK got it thanks
Then it's a excellent radio to receive distant AM Broadcasts.
@@dallase1 It is. Amazing that most radios do well at night. The signals carry far through the evening atmosphere.

you didn''t leave wpht 1210 on long enough its in HD probably the only HD AM left.....
HD may pop up, but it never engages.
