If people buy these for NECA this will be the sign that the price is okay. So in the future other companies will charge prices like this for similar pieces. And of corse they will try to move the price a little higher with their next project. We have to make a statement. I would pay 404 $ befor taxes. No way!
I'm almost always the "things cost what they cost" guy, but this price is crazy. It's a bunch of walls, a tube, and a floor. Shouldn't be more than $150.00. No way this costs as much to manufacture as the three level Street Scene.

The price seems irrational. The only thought I can fathom as to why it may be so expensive is because maybe it’s made of expensive materials that are incredibly sturdy in order to support the street dio. Though I won’t be surprised is that is not the case and Neca has simply overshot (by a large margin) what a majority of toy collectors would happily pay for such a piece.
I would probably rate TNMT as my second favorite toy line throughout my entire childhood, behind G.I. Joe. Fortunately I aged out of Turtles kind of quickly. Therefore I only collect a little from the line. I’m glad I’m not deep into this line and that my decision to not get this is easy. I can’t think of anything more frustrating in terms of toys, than having to figure out whether to buy something that you really want but believe is extremely overpriced. I guess having an instance where you were never able to find a toy that you were stoked about and saw a ton of value in, would be more irritating.
I made my own years ago, so happy I did now. With 3 of these playsets coming in total, its an insane amount of money to consider.
I added it to my cart, $352 with tax and shipping. I’ll just make my own with a greater level of detail. There’s absolutely no way that diorama is worth more than $150 tops.
I've seen your custom building in progress on your shorts and it looked super great, for Europe when I've tried it it was $457 before tax and import so in total it would cost me $600 that's like bad dream I'm not a bank robber, neca lost the plot... 157 shipping they had to change carriers or something in past I was charged "international parcel" roughly $10-$20 now it has changed as a global east europe as if I was somewhere in the Russia lol meanwhile I live in Central Europe so not just super overpriced lair but also unreal shipping (I will also try to make my own and maybe later they will release furniture/decoration as standalone accessory set)
I think lots of folk will get into custom work after this debacle, it’s going to be fuuuun

Yeah i'm international aswell.. So in total It would cost me $507 CAD, that is with the $75 USD shipping haha.. Then you have to factor in a customs fee of at least $100 so all in all it will be over $600 CAD I bet. So looking at Donny's lair and the kitchen along side of that living room, Donny's work shop is going to be about the same price I'd imagine and If I had to guess the Kitchen would be maybe $200/250. I'd be looking at like $1,500 to complete the entire 3 rooms I bet. I really hope noone buys this and Neca is forced to crawl back into their hole and rethink the process.

Absolutely a PASS for me as it converts to $468 for me in Australia so that's almost $1500 for all three parts and that's not including postage at all.
I'm a diorama maker so I'll just make my own and it will look even better as I'll complete both sides of it and all the walls.

The crazy thing is, the shipping to Australia in the first week or so of the preorder was $20 something USD...when I added it to my cart.
I didn't buy it then as I've been trying to save the money.
I went back today and it's $156.99USD to Australia.

PASS!! I told myself I was out if It was over 200. So I’m passing on this and that was not paying international shipping, that is just crazy. And I would have to buy the accessory set which I don’t have yet. I’m really hoping some third-party company Will step in after seeing how the community is kind of pissed with this pricing right now because there is definitely money to be made in a cheaper sewer set very similar to this and at half the price. I think there were two other turtle vans that different companies made that were pretty good looking and I feel like the van would be more complex than this so I have a feeling a third-party sewer would look fairly good also. So that’s what I’m gonna wait for. And if it never comes so be it. because I’m gonna be pissed if in a couple months time some new product comes up and I paid $300 for this and now I can get 2 third-party sets for the price of one NECA set. We need to take a stand and say no.

I've been on the manufacturing side of capitalism for over half a decade, now, and as such, I've been exposed to a lot of behind-the-scenes palaver that manufacturers have to go through, and it helps me understand the various costs and hiccups and added expenses and such that most customers aren't aware of. But I'm trying to figure out how that cost could be justified, and I can't.
I know the prices of materials and labour have shot up over the last few years. I know paint apps can get expensive, especially with how numerous and detailed NECA likes to do them. I know larger items always get charged almost exponentially more for overseas shipping as the size and weight of the item increases.
The big question is: How heavy is this, and does it arrive "flat-packed," or fully assembled? The ONLY way I could see it incurring that amount of shipping cost is if it's packed fully-assembled in a huge, multiple-reinforced box, and it's made of really dense, solid plastic that weighs a lot.
I think you might be better off seeing if you can find some plumbing / ventilation bits & bobs at a B&Q for the pipes, start browsing dollhouse furniture online for the rest, and knocking something together out of wood for the walls & floor. Bit of texturing, lick of paint -- done.
For $300 it better include die-cast parts and magnets to allow for repositioning of the things...but even with that it won't be worth it given that you gotta buy accessory pack to really complete it.

Sold my NECA TMNT stuff a while back...started to regret it but seeing this makes me feel less bothered. Partly why I sold it all was the stupid prices and difficulty in getting them over here in the UK. I did at one point have everything, great figures and probably won't ever be matched...the lair would be a must have if I was still all in, but at that price I would also feel hard done by! NECA is usually very reasonably priced but I think they know this is something most will want so have got very greedy! Shame...
It is just a crazy price even for me thats still all in on the tmnt cartoon figures , ive given up and just spent £60 on thr extreme sets version instead
Mcfarlane gave us those nice little dioramas for the Batman 66 line for 35 bucks. Came with furniture and everything. No, not the highest quality but it got the job done and is fun. Neca should do something similar but with better plastic and paint. Maybe 150 at most.
I don’t collect Turtles, but I’d just make my own sewer lair for 300 dollars, probably far less. Just get some foam board for the walls and floor. Doll House furniture can be used for the couchs and tables. Use your imagination for the rest. Would be a fun project.

That's bs, you don't even get the accessories with it???? Wth! That's insane! Was very interested until I saw the price. That sucks. That's pretty messed up. I would do your own custom lair. I bought the Boba Fett Throne Room but even that was pretty expensive I think but it also has dozens of accessories and a carded Bib Fortuna figure. These things are getting sooo expensive I may end up relying more on 3D printing. I've done more of it in the last 2 years and for accessories it is perfect.
Yes we're all pretty pissed lol ... One good thing about this situation is that theres nothing proprietary about it and no lights or anything.
So theres going to be lots of alternative options from other people or companies like Ramen toys.
And they'll probably be better with more features.
That is half the price for the Cat lair and that thing is a huge!
imagine if Cat Lair had some light up feature and this NECA doesn't come with a single LED light
The real issue is buyers remorse and then trying to get it on the second hand market. The other problem is you need 1 for the living room and 1 for the garage
I was thinking the same, but honestly, it’s not that great…. It’s not a huge playset, it’s not an exclusive figure. It’s literally floor and 3 walls… I think it would add to any collection, but I don’t think a collection will have a void with not having it… and what, will this be $700 a few months after release? I just don’t see a resell market for this, but I’m probably wrong lol

Like I don't get it. Did they see S7 get away with a high price on their Turtle Van and think they could just dial it up and people would go for it? I was really looking forward to displaying this with the van but definitely aborting that plan now.

Each person has to make decisions for themselves. Being angry is just plane stupid. Life is too short to be angry. There are lots of things overpriced and people still buy them. We each make our own financial decisions. 300 is 300. To some people 300 is a lot of money and to other it is pocket change. The last time I took my wife out to nice dinner it was more than 300 dollars and that was for one meal.
If you want it then buy it. If I want something I buy something. I don't really look at price, I look at how badly I want it. If I really want it, I buy it. It's some walls and a floor that I wanted so I bought it. Decide for yourself if you want it.

So far I have every neca tmnt toon line item… I’m disappointed but there’s no way I’d ever pay this much for this piece. $175-200 I would have probably bought 3. This price just blows my mind! It’s more than the van! It’s double the price of the street scene which gives you 3 floors and is straight up a way nicer display piece… I’m disappointed but I won’t be buying, if I did it would only show toy manufactures we’re sheep and will buy anything at any price

i was going to get it when i thought it were $250 i thought ouch but fair enough... when i heard it was $300 i thought 🤦 but i figure Neca doesnt screw you on shipping so at $300 i was going to bite the bullet and still get it.... $80 shipping and that was it im out im not getting this

There is a black road piece that doesn't already come with the street scene does it? Which means I thought it must come with the sewer diorama. However, the black road piece isn't shown in the sewer living room diorama 'contents' picture, (the one with the white background), so now I am confused. What does that black road piece come with?
@@nicholashill8724 I think it’s just there for photography purpose It’s neither listed in the description nor in the contents picture so I think its just part of their promo pics and will not be included or it will be a cardboard piece that will come with the set either way it’s not good
The price would be too much at $200. This thing should have been $150 max or they should have released this set but also included the tv and baby turtles and charged $250. For $300 I expect it to come with a little more, they could have at least released each room with a unique figure (a variant of each turtle) that would only be available with this set, but instead they want $300 for 3 walls and a few accessories. If you live outside tge US then add high postage costs and import duty on top of that, oh and another £8 quid if you live in the UK so that RM can process the whole thing.

It would have been understandable, if the final piece of diorama had this price => like in some magazines for kids with collectables inside, with every dozen issues the price is going up, and the final piece is the most expensive - to complete the diorama, knowing that people will buy it after 99% was collected.
But the first piece? For this amount of cash? Neca, wake up and stop hallucinating! The collectors were cursing at your quality issues and that some of your packs are ovverated, but instead of listening you decided just jump high on the prices.

Prices are high on everything. Had to stop collecting others lines and just do neca tmnt. Now am going to have to limit my neca tmnt. It's is really expensive. With until finished sides. I If getting all 3 sets makes it more expensive then Super7 Cats lair. This is no cats lair. It would be nice if neca would do a video and explain or justified why so much. It sucks. So invested in this line and will mostly get. So it seams neca now has a turtle tax. Me I think it greed. SUCKS

Yes it is waaaay to much. But people must stop comparing this sewer lair to the street scene diorama. Most of he tooling for that set was already payed for since is was mass produced before. It was basically a repaint of an already excising NECA product. This is not!
about Tooling, people are comparing it becuase they already know how it works, maybe it's the first release but not last, different paint deco and it's a general sewer diorama same as the general street diorama, also same mold same walls used for kitchen lair, same molds same walls again reused for donnys labs, so there will be plenty more reuse of those walls more than the street dio we have now
