    21:40 - North on Ossington Avenue:
    24:08 - East on Dundas / North on Shaw Street:
    29:24 - Butterfly attack!
    29:55 - East on Bloor Street (Koreatown & The Annex):

    Hi Johnny great ride on the impressive scooter delivering ample power with the bonus of the double suspension to cope with the Toronto roads. Noticed on my ebike by locking off the suspension when approaching a challenging hill it will climb better thus not losing momentum due to the suspension bounce. Geez can't those car drivers anticipate traffic flow when approaching junctions, Best wishes C.J.H.

    At one time I was the manistay a naitonal icon a way of life for the youth and the idol of tens of millions of local Canadians who were born here. I gave them hope for their own future and guiding them and all that and then my health went and then everything went downhill and is still going downhill faster than ever. I wakeup day after day and stil can't believe what has happened!🥶

      My heal;th was great until April 1997 when the Puritan Corporation in Markham poisoned me nearly to death not once but twice. I also ended up with Crohn's disease after getting poisoned. That was the end of my pinball career in 1997.

      The air stinks in Toronto and its noisy and people are non-white and don't speak a word of English. In fact I'm one of the last of the last of the bonafide original Canadians.

      At one time all I did was play pinball machines on Yonge Street from morning to close everyday for 40 years. Before that I ruled the entire city of New York a city of 8 million at the time I was a former 6 time world pinball champion played at the Broadway arcade and went undefeated for 22 straight years before I came back to Canada.😂

    14th is cool, but how do we get to number 1? The city should focus all it's efforts on Ossington.

      Even Ossington needs improvements to hit #1. Traveling internationally right now and we need to do a lot better at urban design for city streets!! My Vancouver is working on this. We all need to do better. Quebec has streets that are the top for me!!

    Love your channel and I'm also a Toronto cyclist (and pedestrian and occasional driver) but I don't think the escooter ban is a "stupid ban". I'm not really sure why you think it is stupid but maybe because, like you said in the video, it's hard to enforce. And so are many laws. Bylaws exist so we can have some sort of structure amongst the chaos and just because some are hard to enforce doesn't mean we shouldn't have them. You are a very aware, respectful scooter user but in my experience living downtown many people that use them are far from being aware and respectful. The problem with them is their small size and silent nature and THE WORST is when the commonly fly by you on the sidewalk. Also when they do use the bike lane (which is supposed to only be for bicycles and pedelecs) they typically pull dumb moves to squeeze by people because of their small size.

    • @Nouvellecosse
      @Nouvellecosse Рік тому +1

      The ban is stupid because if the main concern is the behaviour of people using a technology then you regulate and enforce it's use rather than ban it. I've long heard motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists all complain about one another not following the rules. Just imagine how stupid it would be to use that as an excuse to ban cars or bikes. Statistically cars are much more dangerous than either scooters or bikes so there would actually be a better case for that. Scooters are a green alternative to driving and have some advantages to bikes such as smaller size which can help people store and transport them more easily. If we want to reduce car depence and combat climate change we need to embrace such technologies even if nothing is perfect.

      Thanks and glad you enjoy the channel!
      As for scooters, every argument against them also applies to ebikes (which tend to be heavier and capable of much more damage). The size argument holds zero weight IMO, my single speed has narrower handle bars than any of my scooters and squeeze through tighter spots (ebikes can also have narrow handlebars such as my original Rize Fixie). The silent argument also applies to ebikes... so why not ban them too?
      People riding them on sidewalks is a behavioral issue and has everything to do with a lack of enforcement. If I were in charge anyone over 14 riding a bike on the sidewalk would face a very stiff fine, and anyone doing so on a motorized device (save for electric wheelchairs and other mobility devices) would face an even stiffer fine.
      There's simply no logical or stats based argument to ban escooters but not ebikes.

      @BenNuProductions Рік тому +1

      I appreciate the civil replies.
      Banning cars will never happen in Canada because of the literal massive size of the country. Sure, things like the King St. pilot are great for discouraging people to drive in the downtown core but literally anywhere outside of the city centres in our country you need a car or 1000 extra hours to transit around. The way forward with cars is not to ban them but to make them more safe (cameras, ai) and make them more fuel efficient which they are already improving all the time. Electric "zero emissions" (which take quite a lot more upfront resources to manufacture than an ICE vehicle at the current time and not to mention the e-waste created by batteries) vehicles are still quite new but we are moving in that direction for sure which is great and they will surely find greener ways to manufacture and dispose of the used batteries in due time.
      I would say the "small size" of the scooters is not a pro but actually a con and the main reason to ban them (as stated in my original comment). Trust me I'm all for sustainable, no-car transport as much as possible but allowing fast, silent toys on public roads is not good for the safety of the people that use them irresponsibly or the general public (mostly seniors and people with mobility issues are the biggest posers with escooters because of the people that use them on sidewalks). You can hear an ebike approaching much more than these escooters (speaking from firsthand experience walking downtown a lot). Also, the chances of getting injured on one of these scooters is much higher than a bicycle, pedelecs, moped-style ebike or a car. Yes there are clueless everything in public (pedestrians, bikes and the most dangerous offender: drivers) but these escooters fall somewhere between an eskateboard and a bike.
      I standby my original comment saying that just because there is a lack of enforcement doesn't mean it should be unbanned. That's not how laws work. Just because you physically don't have to stop at every stop sign because there isn't a cop around doesn't mean you shouldn't everytime, for example.
      Anyways we can agree to disagree on the escooters thing but either way what we can agree on is that the Johnny Strides (and the Johnny Stumbles) UA-cam channels are great for entertainment and for the city! I wish you all a lovely day 😎🤝

    • @JohnnyStrides
      @JohnnyStrides  Рік тому +3

      @@BenNuProductions The size argument still holds no water as a reason for banning escooters IMO. You can get compact, folding ebikes that are smaller than many scooters, should those be banned? Where is the data (from anywhere in the world) that shows a higher incidence rate for escooters vs. ebikes/bikes etc let alone any data that suggests the smaller size is problematic?
      We're all entitled to our opinions so no hard feelings at all and I appreciate you took the time to explain (and that you support the channels lol). I stand by my stance that banning escooters but not ebikes is idiotic... I'd go as far as saying I'm safer on my escooters than any of my ebikes but that's really just anecdotal. One can just as easily abide by the rules of the road on a scooter as they can a bike or ebike etc...and if you look into the reasons given by city council for the ban they all apply to ebikes as well which is to my point.
      Cheers
