  • Dezeen teamed up with London Craft Week on a live talk with a panel of material innovators working with biomaterials for use in the fashion industry.
    Moderated by Dezeen's deputy editor Cajsa Carlsson, the panel comprised Jen Keane, co-founder of biotech company Modern Synthesis, Patrik Lundstrom, CEO of sustainable textile company Renewcell and Craig Smith, research and development director at fashion brand Pangaia.
    The talk was held at the Mills Fabrica in London, a material innovation platform supporting businesses to transition to a more sustainable future.

    Great! I have a question as I work in the hospitality. Can you focus on bed linens and cloths as well. The amount of textile we bin every year is enormous. At the moment we use mostly polycotton and microfiber. If you can make a biodegradable alternatives it would be a kind of big deal for the whole hospitality industry.

    Tbh we shouldn’t really be concentrating on creating anything new? Why don’t the technologist utilize and improve on the natural materials that we already have???
