2 Seconds in the video and I think : She looks like a beautiful forest fairy this time. Love this color and hair on you. Have a beautiful September.
I just want to thank you, 🙏 for all the time, research, and effort you put into your videos... I have always been ever since childhood, a solitary self taught witch with no one around me to talk with or who understands what I am .. your videos are greatly appreciated, seeing you being authentically you .. makes me feel less alone in my search for knowledge... From Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🍁 I wish you many blessings and send you my deepest gratitude 😊 Thank you for being you!
A Book for Disabled Witches, it's about time! Thank You Hearth Witch for all your hard work, sharing this!!! ❣
@@MichelleChick-zo7ic I'm disabled as well, happy to see this too 🥰
It's good to know other like minded folk have been waiting for this particular subject to eventually arrive! ☺
Getting this book right away!!
I just read The Witching Year and it was actually surprisingly nuanced and earnest for something that is presented like it was going to prove if witchcraft worked. Diana came at this with a lot of openness and curiosity; wanting to do it witchcraft thoroughly and the right way. But she is also not religious or spiritual and that skepticism came forward in the text. She tried some different "paths" and did have some genuinely moving moments, which she did not attempt to brush under the rug. Overall, I didn't find the book to be capitalizing on shock value or oddities like tons of shows have in the past. And although some moments are a little cringe, she never had that air of superiority you see in skeptics "attempting witchcraft." I'd love to hear what you think when you read it!
That is really fantastic to hear, i've been waiting for something like this from that direction to come out so I will definitely give it a read x
I borrowed "The Witching Year" by Diana Helmuth from my local library and read it -early this year or late last year. I rather liked it! I thought there was earnest searching going on. There were a lot of interesting parts!
It didn't absolutely end in a satisfying way, but that's because I wanted her to sincerely commit to a witchcraft path, which she did not. She didn't make sweeping or dismissive statements. It was often nuanced for an outsider account. If you are interested in it, it is totally worth reading!
@@nmw-sweet completely agree. I enjoyed it.
Love "A Witching Year" Very funny. She actually speaks with well known witches and I think there is a genuine desire to try to understand what makes people choose this path. In my opinion, she is looking for contentment, especially during the Pandemic. I will add that she does have a bibliography in the back of her book. I'm not saying that a bibliography automatically lends credence to anyone's ideas or that they make an idea right or wrong, but she does come at it from a skeptic's and a learner's point of view.
Edit: grammar
@@Abi_Script I agree. I loved this. Her take is funny and not afraid to be vulnerable. I resonated with her because I came to witchcraft at the same time and felt similarly - for a new person approaching it, the sheer number of approaches is bewildering and leaves us trying everything, grasping for what resonates with our own souls, and she isn’t afraid to be open and authentic about her failures and assumptions. She has a great bibliography and touches on many of the authors I respect. I think she did a great job and it was validating to see someone else go through what I did trying to find my own path in the craft.
The description for The Witching Year does not do it justice, it was one of my fave books I've read this year. The author approaches it with a genuine interest and her sense of humor really shines through and makes it an enjoyable read. She also includes an bibliography at the end for anything she references or mentions. I found a lot of her experiences relatable as well. I definitely recommend giving it a read!
I’m looking forward for Psychic Tarot by May Auryn he became one of my favorite authors since I started my practice. Tarot being such a huge part of it I would love to read his book! Absolutely loved this video and I hope you had a wonderful day! 🥰
45:36 - " 'Oh... This is reeeeeally tiny...' and you might be really disappointed."
Maybe it's still a great source of information. Maybe the book has a great personality, Hearth! 😭😭😭
All jokes aside, please, a moment of silence for my September budget.
❤❤❤
I feel you.
I now have a wishlist for holidays and birthdays that can last me a decade at least. So here’s to hoping we get some as surprises 🥂
The Baba Yaga book is already sold out here in Canada, but I'm going to get it. The horrid war in Ukraine has me exploring my Ukrainian heritage.
TY so much - these are my favourite vids! I know you spend a lot of time researching and filming, and it is appreciated
Great video, Hearth. I always enjoy the "new books" round up and appreciate that you are highlighting intriguing books by real authors. Ivo Dominguez was GoH at my local Pagan Pride day this past weekend. It was interesting to hear him talk about how he and his collaborators had to pull a Manhattan Project to get the Sun Sign Witch series finished in order to beat Ai-generated (or should I say AI-stolen) junk books to market. #SupportHumanArtists 📚📖📙
Thank you so much for including the books from the chronically ill witches!! It's not spoken of enough. I have been chronically ill my whole life so i never had to adjust my craft, it just is, but sometimes feel alone in not having much extensive rituals and such. Feels great to be able to read about someone else's craft while chronically ill! Yay i'm not alone! 🥰
Excellent as always! 📚📚📚
One suggestion though, instead of splitting up the book releases by UK and US, what if you just combined them together and give the separate release dates for the UK and US together on screen or read out? That way you aren't having to double up quite as much and it would save you some script writing and recording time? Just a thought to help keep you from having to do a 3 hour recording session for the start of each month. Love these What's New videos though, thanks for the hard work! ^_^
Fabulous! Fabulous! Really loved this, Hearth. :D The only problem I have with the book review is that so many books are right up my street and I'm not sure I have room for any more. I'm already peering from behind and from under piles of books everywhere (over a thousand, lol) as well as many bookcases, tables piled up, books on the fridge and atop cupboards, lol. Anyway, I must get the earth mystery ones and a few of the unusual practice ones. Thank you so much for all you do. Cheers! 📖🗞📖🗞📖
📖 I have several that I want to get my hands on (proud book goblin here).
📕 The most interesting ones right now are the ones about magick and disability.
I’m undiagnosed but had a bad flare this summer so I’m trying to get several resources to adapt my life so when I have another flare I don’t struggle as much.
Then the first one after those is the Baba Yaga and the animal companion ones.
📚 THANK YOU so much for all the work you did to get us this wonderful video full of great information 📚
And glad that it was just that, very reasonably so, why it took you longer.
Love the fairy look ❤
I ordered Ecstatic Witchcraft and I pre-ordered Mat Auryn’s book several months ago. I also put the dream book on my wishlist. I always love these videos!
I was soooo excited to see this video come out, I've been waiting for it. Thank you for these, they're brilliant and are so helpful! I think out of all of the US releases I'm seeing I'm most excited for the book Owl Magic and The Witch's Ally. 🥰
The best way I can explain the pronunciation of "hygge" is in that it's the middle of a Venn diagram consisting of the American pronunciations of "hug," "hog," and "Hugo." (And now I have a voice in the back of my head singing, "I'm blue, dabadee dabadoo...") Also, keeping in mind that I'm a Yank, what I say for that other words sounds a lot like "alloor." As per one of your review requests, I'm a bit short on cash so I haven't bought Diana Helmuth's "The Witching Year" but there's a nice chunk of it available to read on Amazon ("Read Sample" and "Audible sample" directly below the image of the book) and -- at least that opening part, which is an intro and the lead-up to Day 1, reads a lot more like an analysis of herself than the usual UA-cam and TikTok "review" or "real" witchcraft. Again, it's just a sample... but at least at the start it seems less like an attack (there's even some actual modern witchcraft history) than an analysis of "what the hell am I gonna do with myself." (Fingers crossed, and I hope to get some cash scraped up to read the whole thing.) Also... WOW, this video was a marathon... but just think about all those folks talking about how they used to have to find the "Occult" shelf in a bookstore to choose among the same 7-8 books versus how many are easily available nowadays... :-)
"That's what I do, that's what I do!"
Favorite part! You are incredible. Thank you for your videos.
I don’t feel as connected to Mabon as I do to Samhain, which is right around the corner.
The Crooked Path is a great book and very easy to follow and understand.
Stone of Secrets sounds interesting and I may have to get it to see if it mentions my favorite alchemist, Sir Isaac Newton. 📘
P.S. - Hearth, I know you love black clothing, but green is definitely a good color for you.
I'm very excited about the disabled witch book. Thank you Hearth 😊
Thank you for the new books overview! My library has some of them on order and many of the pagan portals titles, so just a reminder for those with limited space and/or book funds. It's also a great way to try before you buy for a personal collection.
This series is really amazing Hearth. I appreciate all the hard work and research you put into it. Thanks for reminding me about Mabon, i will be looking forward to your video about it. ❤
Thank you so much, I love that you get into the astrological side of the month. A Witch’s Ally sounds very good. I love animals. The other book is Elemental Spirits.
I don't know how to add a book emoji from my computer but thank you for your dedication to this channel
I enjoyed my morning mactha and wrote down my favorites.
So glad I found your channel! Please don't stop posting 😂🍂🍁🍂
Thank you for this list! My TBR list gets longer and longer lol. I'm not complaining! I love how other people and their different paths. 💗💗🥰🥰🥰
Forgot the emojis!📖📚📖📚📓📗📘
I absolutely agree with you, that after we find one Tarot book that we really love, we don't need any others (18:30). For me, my personal favorite is "The Ultimate Guide to Tarot" by Liz Dean. I do have some other Tarot books, but I may as well get rid of them, as this is the only one I ever actually use. 🙂
📚📖📚📖📚 love these and the amount of time it must take - hats off! I recently look at Llewelyn new releases, but I can’t recall Children of Cain - sounds fascinating! Thanks for the share!
I immediately bought 'The Hygge Witch' by Courtney Hope. Thank you so much for the work you do for us, Hearth Witch. ❤
So did I 😊
Thank you so much for these videos. I appreciate how much work you put into them. I have found great new books to read and the astrology part is concise enough not to be intimidating for my beginner mind. Might I be bold enough to ask if it would be possible to have the picture of the book show on screen a bit longer? It is a bit hard to find a particular book later on as the books flash by so quickly. Only if it's not too much trouble. I'll keep watching either way 😊. Hope you have a beautiful September 🍃🍂
I agree, I had to cycle back to figure out what the title/authors were a number of times! It would be great to have the cover preview stay up throughout the summary and discussion!
I'm very curious about the book about the owls. One of my all time favorite birds. Thanks Hearth.
That hair color looks so pretty on you 😍 It makes your eyes and skin look so warm and glowy! SO pretty!!!
I need all these books
Totally not already planning to add more to book pile of shame by getting a book on planetary magick tomorrow *hides the green witch grimoire my moon magick book and of blood and bones that i need to read + finishing my cooy of The Green Witch*
Ooh enjoy Of Blood and Bones! It’s an amazing read and my favorite witch book I’ve ever read.
I was waiting for this video!! Loving these ❤
I absolutely love the crooked path
📗📘📙 I listened to the entire thing while playing World of Warcraft. It was the perfect thing to listen to! Thank you for your time, work, and effort on this list of upcoming releases!
Jealous! I can’t afford a computer right now and so I haven’t played WoW in a while- I miss it so much!
thank you for doing these videos :) i always look forward to them!!
Ethony like Bethany you got it right
I just want to thank you Hearth. Thank you sooo much for making the choice to become a UA-camr in the first place, because I think I would have given up Witchcraft by now, if it wasn't for you and your encouraging words and incredible style of teaching.
PS: This is my boyfreinds YT, as he has YT premium hehee. I just wanted you to know that my name is Melissa and I'm a big fan of yours. You have had a really positive affect on my practice and I will always be cheering you on. Blessed be
I love your earthy makeup and green shirt. You look like a beautiful forest fairy ♥️
Thank you as always for the updates 🌙✨
Great viedo, thanks i am New Witch, i am learning more about witchcraft.
I agree with you about the Witching Year. The blurb sounds incredibly biased. I don't consider witchraft a "religion" or something that you can get "right." I also agree with you about it reflecting those old videos and their "seeing if it works" approach. Hopefully, the book is far better than the blurb.
It is a lot better than the blurb is.
Witchcraft isn’t a religion; by itself it’s secular and therefore not a religion. People add their deities into it though and that’s where it gets confusing.
Thank you for all the Astrology insights. That may be the kick in the pants I needed to get working and finish my next two books! You rock, Hearth. 💚✨
Love to find the essence/presentation of a British Witch sharing in this area
The Crooked Path Audiobook is already up on Hoopla, so I borrowed it. Thanks for the heads up!
Tea at the ready …. I really enjoy these new what’s new for the month in witchcraft videos. BTW, from a previous what’s new video, you spoke of a new book - The Magical Art of Laying Ghosts; Unquiet Voices. I am about 50 pages in and it is excellent, so interesting.
📚📖📗📗📗 I must say that green looks so so good on you!💚💚💚 tysm for all the info you brought us!
amazing list --thank you
📖📚📙
I LOVE this series!! I look forward to this every month
📚📚📚 so many books coming out! Mat Auryn's book on tarot is sounds promising. I've read tarot for awhile, so it would be useful to learn practices to enhance intuition. Elemental Spirits from the UK releases intrigued me. Owl Magic also stood out, as I used to help rehabilitate injured owls to be released in the wild. Thanks so much for your research, time and effort creating this video, Hearth!
I’ve been watching your videos, off and on, since January ‘21. I’m not a witch (someday?), at the moment, but I get a ton out of a lot of what you say. I just watched all of this--loved every second. Glad you like Mat Auryn’s Psychic Witch. It’s one of the three witch books I own, and if I ever got serious about this, that book would be my jumping off point. So, yeah, I guess I’d want to see his Tarot book. Anyway, your videos are great, great, great. Loved the astrology stuff. And I hope more Glastonbury and Cornwall accounts show up in the future!
I will to be open minded but it just gives you that feeling I agree and people do not realize it's not a one certain way just like Christianity is different in different denominations.
I would be interested in videos just about each of the plantery retrogrades. They interest me and you explain things so well that's makes it easy to understand
📚 I love these videos. Definitely monthly viewing. TBR pile gets bigger after every one. 😂
Thank you for all of your hard work! You're such a dedicated teacher, an absolute natural!
Just pre-ordered the book: "The Book of Forgotten Witches." Looks really good!
Thank you for all the work you do in these videos. I love listening to them and getting new book ideas. ❤❤❤
When you said a lot of books, I just checked the time and we're only 8 minutes in. Time to focus and add books to my "to buy" list. "The Witching Year" has been out for nearly a year here in the US.... I got it when I was still working at B&N but still haven't read it.
I agree you are a beautiful forest fairy. I love your videos, so informative and interesting for a baby witch like me. Thank you for all you do. Love the book reviews 😊
The witching year was a great book and covers a lot of the questions and uncertainty a lot of people who enter witchcraft with
I love hearing about the new books coming out this month. I don't know if I will get any of them but the earth workbook sounds interesting. I like workbook style witch books because it allows for learning at a slower pace with exercises.
Thanks for all you do!
📕📗 So much information!!! I love these videos even though I probably won't read most of the books. Lol It's great knowing what books are out there.
**BOOK** To the END! Hi, Hearth! You got it Right! It's a short E, as in Beth. I watch her UA-cam Channel sometimes. I love these videos! **Smile**
I love this format. Very useful! Thank you a lot for this consequent work!
Thanks for doing these as I really enjoy seeing what books are coming out. I’m looking forward to Mat Auryn’ss new book. 📚
The Hygge Witch sounds very interesting and very me. I will definitely be adding this one to my reading pile
This was so thorough and helpful. Thank you, Hearth❤
Husband and I love non-fiction books as well as fiction. He's heavier on history and biography/autobio; I love theory about too many things at this juncture. So I love your book updates! TYVM xoxo
I think of self initiation as some one who has studied on their own. Got great on their own and are self initiated into the craft not necessarily a group.
I would use “self taught” for that. I do think initiation implies induction into something formal and to some degree exclusive like a closed practice.
I have the Leo Witch book and as a Leo I loved it! Thank you for sharing these book releases and all the videos!
The sulis book, I read about her in the goddess grimoire, sounds like I will give it a read
❤❤❤😊😊😊Thank you for sharing
Soo pretty! Thank you for the updates. Love them! ❤❤❤❤
Great video, love these roundups and really appreciate the massive effort it must take to prepare and film. And I get why you feared the word "Hygge" - its pronunciation is about as danish as the word. Sometimes we speak from way down in the throat, from where the throat meets the chest, which if you arent used to is very, very strange (even as a dane I understand why our langauge seldom is on the top in lists of most romantic/beautiful languages 😂)
Love these videos thank you fir your time and energy on this. I always live your book hauls 📚📚
I love your videos and really appreciate the time and effort you put in. Any chance, in the about or on your website, we can get a list of the books you're going over? That way if we miss something, we can go to the site to see the books coming out?
Please, you deserve a drink after all that talking!
This is my first time watching, I'll definitely be back. Do you happen to have a video or list of books you'd recommend for baby witches just starting out? Currently listening to the Witch Wednesday podcast and enjoying their foundational introduction, and open, varied suggestions of how to celebrate and practice! Happy September, and early Happy Mabon wishes 🍎🎃🧙
As always, a great and informative video. Thank you for all you do.
📚📚📚Thank you so much for all the hard work and research you put in to these videos. I have found so many books and resources through these videos and I am truly grateful for that.
I preordered The Comfy Cozy Witch’s Guide to Making Magic in Your Everyday Life by Jennie Blonde. I’ve followed her podcast for years and have read (and own) her book Hearthstone & Home Witchcraft, which I found insightful. I am currently reading Everyday Life and have already tagged several places and relevant to me. Looking forward to finishing it.
I have added Apprenticeship Witch, Chronically Magickal and Owl Magick to my wish list. I will have to go back a rewatch this video to see if I missed anything else that sounds interesting.
I started The Witch by Ronald Hutton because of your recommendation and so far I love it👩🏫
I just recently learned that Kelden is from Minnesota (USA), where I also live!
Thank you Hearth! I just preordered the Earth Mysteries Workbook and I am considering buying Transformative Initiation for Witches: The Art of Mastering Inner Change. I believe we can self initiate. My belief is that we can connect with our highest self/ or an ascended master or even God and ask for the initiation we would like. So I’m really interested in how this book suggests we self initiate!
The invasive plant book sounds interesting!
Thankyou Hearth. That was a lot and very interesting 📚
Love your outfit and hair!! Very good video, thank you.
The blue added a witchy ambiance (setting). 😉
Ms. Dorn! 😇
to be initiated indicates there are teachers and a more structured tradition; so it makes sense to me that you would need someone to initiate you into the tradition. I do think most people can dedicate themselves to a practice without the need to initiation.
thank you so much ..i have just bought the hygge witch handbook, very interseted as i do kinda do this instinctually anyway ,thanks xx
You are awesome ❤
📚 Thank you for this video. I have added a few more books to my wishlist :-)
This was such a well research video 📕 In case that you are running late for another "what's new in witchcraft" would you consider dividing the vid into an astrology update and the book releases? 📖 The books we can still buy after the release date, but trying to coordinate practice with cellestial bodies movements, it's a missed opportunity when the vid releases later 💚
Thank you for sharing, love all of your videos 😊
Thank You Hearth 📔📖📕
Great video thank you.. im really looking forward to🦉 owl magick 📖
Hi Hearth, self initiation is not a problem, nobody has the right to say this is wrong as practice and belief is what counts not ritual which is just a tool to aid in the practice. Hope that helps?
So helpful! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the wonderful content. ✨ Blessed Be ✨
