Enjoyed the vid. Just one observation to note. It appears you are operating your cat converter in reverse. The cat is engaged by pushing the cat handle back so that the bottom of the handle is pointing away from the front glass of the stove. The cat is disengaged by pulling the bottom of cat handle towards the front glass of the stove. I know...seems counterintuitive.

You are correct after not using it over the summer I did the same thing again this fall it just seems backwards to me you would think that there would be a open and closed marked on it!

I was following along in my castleton manual and indeed this video is incorrect regarding desired the bypass handle positions. To engage the catalytic converter push the handle back - away from the front door. That closes the bypass - no bypassing - and cat converter is active.

Can I ask a question? I was thinking to get the Castleton as well and corner it the way you have. The specs say to install so that the flu pipe coming out of the top is minimum 20.5 inches from each wall. Is that about what you have? It looks further than 20.5 inches. If you went more than that, I'm curious, why?

I no longer have it in that place but when it was there the stove would get hotter than the pipe, if this is a concern you can use an insulated pipe or use corrugated metal on the wall. I used that method in the new place.

    A suggestion.
When making your next few vids, write an Outline and Rehearse the vid 1/2 times.
You spent so much time collecting your thoughts in this vid it was tedious - and painful.

Would that be a large enough stove to heat my 1200 square foot house do you think? I live in Minnesota and get harsh winters

I have been thinking about doing a one year review and it has been a great stove but we live in northern Vermont and if this was our sole source of heat I feel that the fire box is too small and I would definitely get the Harthstone Heritage!

@@andrewseamans1419 Approximately 1600 feet it’s insulated with 2” zip-r that’s been flash foamed on the inside and 6 inches of spray foam in the ceiling. This fall it’s been getting down to about 20° at night we light a fire in the woodstove in the morning and let it go out and it will still be 68° The next morning.

in the literature it says the castleton will heat 1500 sq ft, and with hard wood it will have a 20 hr burn
