  • The city of Nineveh was built by Nimrod, who founded the first empire that existed after the flood.
Today two mounds rise on the eastern bank of the Tigris River, those of Kuyunjiq and Nebi Yunus, both marking the site of what was once the mighty Nineveh.
The words of Isaiah (10:24-27; 30:27-33) regarding God's judgment against Assyria are in some ways parallel to those of chapters 2 and 3 of Nahum. (Isa 52:7; Na 1:15; Ro 10:15)
