What's your favorite Geoffrey Bodine moment?
When he retired
Talking to him in my hometown of Kingman, Arizona, while the Kyle Petty Charity Ride ate lunch in 2000. He could not have been any nicer.
Him winning '86 Daytona 500. I was rooting for Dale but Geoff's car was just so strong that day and no one could touch it.
Mine will always the crazy finish with Richie Evans in the modified’s at Martinsville! For those who don’t know about it, they came out of turn 4 headed for the checkers and wound up crashing just before the finish line! Evans won, but he took the checkered flag with the car on its side and, as I remember, backwards! I’m not a big cup fan, but just his years in the modified’s were legendary! And he was known to run dirt modified’s from time to time, like the big fall race on the Syracuse, NY mile. If you’ve never seen the Valiant bodied mod that he raced in the early 70’s, you’re missing out! He was a heck of a competitor!
You forgot to mention that he brought power steering to the Cup Series.
He won 55 out of 84 Modified races in a single year in 1978, racing against drivers like Richie Evans and Jerry Cook.
We were at Daytona in 2000 sitting in the Weatherly grandstand. We saw the Crash happen, brutal! i remember the crowd seeing Bodine after the crash, We Cheered!
I grew up watching Geoff race at Stafford Springs. He and Bugsy Stevens were my favorites. I’m now 66 and delighted to see him get the attention he deserves. => NASCAR HOF listen up!
One of the greatest racers of all time. Became a fan years ago at Oswego Speedway NY where he drove a modified. The man was fearless and always going for it. He should be in the Hall of Fame, not just for his stats, but for all the safety innovations he came up with. In the feud with Earnhardt, I'd take Geoff any day. He'd drive you hard, not dirty.
I go to suny oswego and have my own racing radio show hope to maybe get him on LOL
He and Dan gurney are my racing hero’s as a native New Yorker
Geoffrey was able to redeem himself to some degree at Daytona after his accident by finishing 3rd & 10th respectively in the Daytona 500 & Pepsi 400 driving for James Finch in 2002.
The only driver that the " Intimidator " was intimidated by .
That was really good. Didn't know a lot of those details about his career. Thank you, Bob 🙂🏁
As a Native New Yorker he and Dan Gurney are my racing hero’s
Hope Dale Jr can get him in his podcast!
My all time favorite!!!
Very cool to see Bodine get his due credit in the modern era. Not to nitpick, but his last career win came at Watkins Glen as stated in the video, but it was in 1996, not 1995. Thanks for posting these videos. Between this, Scene Vault Podcast, and Dale Jr Download, the guys that built the sport are getting deserved credit for what they did over the years. Nice video Mr. Pockrass.
I'll never forget that truck race at Daytona 2000 that was a near fatal crash. I've watched replays of it, and wondered how he survived that horrible wreck that could've been a whole lot worse.
I love this series. It is so interesting to see where these drivers came from and where they are today.
Thanks Bob!!!
I'd love to have a one on one with Geoff Brett n Todd Bodine bros my hometown area boys. I respect them all. Even as a Gordon fan.
The part they show him crashing at the 1989 Sears Point race was the 1989 Watkins Glen race. 4:36
Last victory was walkin glen 1996
Yeap they have it wrong. It was with QVC on car 96.
Well done Bob
Believe me, as 15 year olds like me, we know all about the '86 500 winner.
Go Geoff Bodine!
I love these you kids don't know ...do one on Davey Allison
It was 1996 at The Glen
My man, Geoffrey. Mr. Hoosier tire himself.
Last win was in 1996 at Watkins Glen ironically it’s was Earnhardt’s last Pole of his career and he did it was a broke collarbone and sternum
excellent!
I knew almost everything with the exception of the bobsled thing
4:37 - So, the Carousel at Watkins Glen suddenly transferred to Sonoma, eh?
Also, not gonna mention that he lapped the field in that North Wilkesboro victory in 1994? Or that he won The Winston that same year, too?
Bob Pockrass Is Awesome
Put this man in the HoF
I knew of Geoffs success, but the only times I remember actually getting to see Geoff race was when he had his little retirement tour in 2011 for Tommy Baldwin
I’m 11 and I know Geoff bodine
I remember seeing Geoff Bodine at Thompson in CT finishing three laps ahead of the field. He was so cocky driving down the backstretch with his elbow out the window (That was before window nets). He was a legend in the Northeast.
I remember bodine he was talented
Good video, but Bodine’s last win was in 1996 at Watkins Glen, not 1995. Other than that little correction, all I have to say is Geoffrey Bodine is a great driver, and he needs to be in the Hall of Fame!
I was named after this man.
Great story I loved dale I miss him
Do Davey Allison next
Please do Davey Allison
Please do Earl Ross next
i mean Like........
Dont mean Do say your wrong...
but im 12 and I know about Geoffrey Bodine
They left out one great win was the winston in 94 the first win driving the 7 . That was a great race. Nothing near that good these days.
One more race. That’s the diffrence between hendrick being a failure and the greatest nascar team owner ever. Roll the dice people quit. Failures nothing compared to not taking the chance
hi im makadyn amo geoffrey bodine is my far off cousin my grandma is kathleen monk my nana is geniveve eleanor bodine my grandpa is richard monk and my uncle is harry bodine i come from ny i was born in syracuse ny
Hey fox do Lake Speed
Why is it so difficult to double check for accuracy? His last win was in 1996, not 1995
He was Geoff for years until 99 and decided he wanted to be called Geoffrey. What a toolbox…….
Did you know he dnf a third of his career? Dude was a hack.
Yep. He was absolutely brutal on equipment
FIREBALLL
BODINE/EARNHARDT FUED
Hardly a feud. Bodine was trash.
@@hacksawjimthuggin7411 won the 500 helluva lot quicker than that hack Earnhardt did 😂
