Desk File Cabinet Lock Removal

I have a Kimball executive desk that the lock core will not operate with the key that I purchased from my local locksmith who cut the key per the Kimball K1 settings. Can I replaced the lock core myself? Or do I need to hire a locksmith to replace the lock to my desk? Thank you in advance for any suggestions or recommendations you might have for me.

There's a drawer on my desk where to lock no longer works. The key can no longer open it. I tried the original key, as well as copies I have of it (all in good condition) but none of it works anymore. So, the problem is with the lock itself. I can no longer open the drawer to get stuff that I need out of it and it's frustrating. I don't know if I should try to break the wood in some way or if there's a method to just remove the lock. I also wonder if it's possible to pick the lock but it doesn't seem like it because the lock doesn't function properly.

Hi. Does the key rotate?

@@locdocinc I have the same problem and yes the key rotates. It will open the center drawer and the drawers on the right but the left side will not open. Thank you My desk is a steel case
