During his time at Hope's Peak and the time after its fall he worked under Junko with Ultimate Despair, which would be the perfect time for him to put those machines together to prep for the first Killing Game. However, the evidence with greater connection to to Soda comes from his note that most of what he builds become vehicles - and every execution in the first game is like this. Monokuma uses a pitching machine that had been modified into a vehicle, Mondo's motorcycle is used in his execution, Celes is killed by the firetruck, Alter Ego is killed by the crane, and Naegi and Junko's execution machines both have them trapped to a desk modified using the conveyer belt to serve as a vehicle to lead them to the crusher. Not to mention the Prologue Execution of Kirigiri's father: the rocket Soda always wanted to build.
Out of all the characters kazuichi is the most believable. He seems like a guy you would geniunely hang out with while the others seem pretty hard to approach or talk to due to their over the top and bizarre nature

This is why I love Kazuichi. When I play the main story I like to do his freetime events alongside the main story. I always save his and Chiaki's final freetime event for Chapter 5. It basically finishes his character arc after he spent Chapter 4 not trusting you.
Kind of a spoiler Kazuichi is speculated to have made the executions in the first game and was confirmed to have made the monokuma bots in ultra despair girls. Alas, that poor child was hypnotized. Do not blame him.

my favorite thing about befriending someone who survived is that you know they ended up keeping their promise of getting out of there together, and as friends. kazuichi's and maki's really touched my heart at their last event
I could never really get into Kazuichi's character during the main story, but seeing him talk passionately about his love for tinkering makes me smile.
I'm not gonna lie, the last talk with him made me tear up a bit. I feel like we all go through a phase of untrust after someone messes with you who you thought would never mess with you. And sometimes we do go through phases of changing our appearance or personality to cope with these things. But what Kazuichi, and a lot of people, eventually realize is that it's not others you need to worry about. Just focus on being the best version of yourself, and your true friends will love you for it. The mechanic boi needs a lot of hugs rn lol

His FTE is so good! I was expecting more backstory but it's actually tied in with the story and how he actually feels guilty for being a coward and for distrusting Hajime. The main story alone didn't do him justice! I'm so glad to know his Free Time Events show more of his actual character.
I dont think enough of the fandom acknowledges his past. He was obviously abused as a child either physically or emotionally. There are some patterns in his behavior that hint at this. For example Kazuichi considers himself the genius in his family but from what I know throughout the game he doesn't exactly act like it. This could be a defense mechanism since he was used for his smarts by someone he considered a friend. And in one of his free time events he even mentions his father 'beat the crap outta him' because he missed a school field trip because he didn't want to spend any extra money. Some other behaviors he has could hint at his father being emotionally abusive. During the 'Shot through the heart event' he mentions in a way feeling something he considers 'abnormal' and think hajime will make fun of him if he ever found out. This could be a case of internalized homophobia. He isn't able to accept who he is because someone in his life most likely his father taught him homosexuality was abnormal. I personally think that he's a pretty alright example of what abuse and possible neglect can do to a person. And I really hate how the fandom labels him as just a simp when he's so much more than that
