My name is Silverio Kist and in this video you will know the advantages and disadvantages of living in the countryside.
These are the topics of the video, they will help you to know a little bit of the countryside of Coimbra and at the end of the video I will show you an estimate of cost to live in the county and you will have an idea if it is for you or not.
I'm going to show a little bit today of how the city is , some important points that you need to know about the city. I'll go along with Pedro
Population
It has 24,649 inhabitants 1524 less than it had in 2011.
Location
Located in central Portugal, the municipality of Montemor-o-Velho belongs to the district of Coimbra. With a total area of 229km2 distributed by 11 parishes, it is part of Baixo Mondego, a privileged region in tourist destinations with great cultural, historical, landscape, sports and social value.
Its neighbouring municipalities are Cantanhede to the N, Soure to the S, Condeixa-a-Nova and Coimbra to the E and Figueira da Foz to the W.
The municipality is 16 km from Figueira da Foz, 25 km from Coimbra, 145 km from Porto and 225 km from Lisbon.
Getting there
The municipality is currently served by train and buses.
The journey to Coimbra by train takes 20 to 30 minutes and costs 2 euros each. A 60-day (two-month) pass costs 53.90 euros.
By car it takes 30 min (25,8 km) by N341.
To Porto by train the time is 2 hours and the price starts at 10,80€.
To Lisbon it takes two hours by car, about 200 kilometres, by train the time is 2 hours and a half with prices starting from €14.90.
How to live
Living in Montemor-o-Velho is to have the magic invading the Christmas in the Magic Castle.

Throughout the year, in general, the temperature ranges from 4 °C to 28 °C and is rarely below -1 °C or above 35 °C, the highest and lowest temperatures recorded in the region were 41.6 °C and -4.9 °C
Labour market
The district's economic activity focuses on the service sector and industry, particularly in urban areas. Agriculture and forestry continue to play an important role in the municipalities with more rural characteristics.
Among the agricultural productions, rice, corn, vegetables, fruit and wine deserve to be highlighted.
In the tertiary sector, commerce, tourism and services, associated with Coimbra's role as a university centre, play an increasingly important role in the region's economy.
A significant number of residents work in Coimbra.
Health
There are three central hospitals of regional dimension in Coimbra:
H.U.C. - Hospitals of the University of Coimbra,
C.H.C. - Coimbra Hospital Centre (which includes three hospital establishments: the General Hospital, also known as Covões Hospital, the Paediatric Hospital and Bissaya Barreto Maternity) and
I.P.O. Portuguese Institute of Oncology.
Montemor-o-Velho has 10 health centres, this is the one in Pereira, the parish where Pedro lives.
There is also the Misericórdia Hospital.
School Network
There are 13 primary schools, 2 secondary schools and 2 high schools.

Supermarket
Spending on supermarket in Montemor-o-Velho doesn't differ much from the rest of Portugal, larger.

Moro em Carapinheira, interior de Montemor -o-velho, uma vila linda cheio de pessoas que foram pro Brasil então voltaram na década de 50, logo, tem muito português com familiares no Brasil! Sou muito bem tratado e não tenho nada a reclamar.

Cantanhede e não Castanhede, Montemor não é Interior, mas sim Litoral! Interior é Lousã, Penacova, Poiares, etc...
No Brasil são consideradas cidades do interior as que não estão nas regiões metropolitanas, não tem a ver com o mar, inclusive a grande maioria das regiões metropolitanas estão no litoral. Abraço.

Temo ir e serem xenofobicos com nós BR pq minha mulher é meio inocente e temo segurança dela.
Estamos em Portugal há dois anos e nunca tivemos problemas. Mas esta é a minha experiência, mas no geral os portugueses são muito receptivos.
