    I received a 630 I purchased, a few days ago, and it posts perfectly, and my new 9019 also posts perfectly.

    Both the Medium and 1.1 Stub nibs I have for the P136 were excellent straight out of the box - the same can't be said of my 630, which was dry, scratchy and inconsistent in flow. A real shame, as I like the rest of the pen. With some work I've got it much better - although my attempts at heat setting the feed have left the fins a bit bent and funny looking. I've ordered a couple of replacement steel nibs for the 630, not sure if they're just bare nibs or the whole screw-in nib unit - we'll see when they arrive. So yes, I found the P136 to be excellent & a joy to write with - but I persist with my 'problem child' 630 precisely because it's a challenge...

      Heat setting with plastic feeds can be like that...I have spare Jinhao #6 feeds from an experiment with an x750. Hope you get it working as you'd like it to.

    I have both plus the Wing Sung 629. Honestly i like the 630 a bit better. I loke the width and the larger size and nib which is not as stiff. I think it is a better writer. It also holds more ink.
    Thanks for the comparison, James.

    I have both the Wing Sung 630 and two Majohn p136's which will post after torquing the bejeesus out of it the first time. I would love to see the 630 with a fine nib, other than that, it is a better pen in my hand. That said, the winner in a competition has to be the Jinhao 9019. That enormous cartridge is a winner.

    I enjoyed this comparison. I'm hoping to get a P136 shortly, as I think it meets my needs better. I bought a Jinhao X159, and that satisfies my rare urges for OS pens.

    Hands down the w.s. 630. This is a next level pen. The p136 is a fine pen, but it is not in the same league. Im waiting to see if anything new cimes up to challenge the 630 - i thought the hongdian moiré pens with their #8 nibs and ebonite feed might be comparable but unfortunately they just showed what a truly superb pen the 630 is.

    It is the smallest of details, but the clip of the Majohn really sets it apart. The underside almost seems to have a large bead nicely welded to it rather than folding over the end of the clip. Both are great pens.

  • @LANCSKID
    @LANCSKID 11 місяців тому +1

    No choosing … I bought both, as they are relatively inexpensive. Swapped the nib in the P136 for a which I prefer. Both pens are superb smooth writers with good ink flow. I rarely post my pens and never post piston filler pens due to the possibility of disturbing the piston knob resulting in an unwelcome ‘burp’. I would ask you and all other reviewers to emphasise the ‘reverse threading’ on piston knobs and some nibs. A colleague of mine recently ruined a PENBBS pen by turning the filler knob anti-clockwise in the mistaken belief that he was undoing it … cracked barrel! Enjoyable video as always James, thanks. ✒️👍🖌

    I bought 3 P136. 2 of them cracked right below the bottom finial that you twist to fill the pen. I barely filled them 4 times. I don't know if it was a bad batch or if most of them crack. I have one of the 3 that hasn't cracked yet. They have 1.1 stub nibs that are possibly the smoothest nibs ever or way up there with the best of them.

    Thanks for this video, great comparison, I hadn't understood the size difference between the two, but now I think I prefer the size of the Montblanc LeGrand (146).
    I do have a green P136, and I can confirm that this color looks very good, sober and elegant, and matches perfectly with Jacques Herbin - Emerald of Chivor ink.
    Mine is fitted with an F nib and it's perfectly soft, which I don't always find on their other pens or nibs sold separately.
    I suspect that the feeder (specific to this model) greatly improves things, or else it's that they adjust the nib specifically for this pen.
    As for the cap, the fact that it doesn't post isn't a problem, firstly because I have medium-sized hands, but mainly because this would unbalance the pen.
    Otherwise, my latest acquisition is PenBBS 355 Fire Cloud with an F Blade nib (inked with Noodler's Walnut). It costs 3x the price of the P136, but it's a fantastic pen, the nib is great, soft and full of character, but above all, it's one of the few pens to have a Bulk-Filler piston, which means you can have a very large capacity and lock the feed in case of air travel or whatever.
    I could just criticize the big trim ring, which I don't find very elegant, but the rest of the pen is perfect.
    PS: to pronounce MontBlanc correctly, you shouldn't say the letters T and C. :)

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  11 місяців тому +1

      I'll say Montblanc correctly when everyone else stops saying "Kaweeeco". 😆

    I didn't like the F nib on the P136, but I'm much happier with the Majohn M nib. One warning for nib-swappers - the feed on the P136 is not very robust. I've got the 630 ordered; I suspect that I'll like the size better.

    The Majohn P136 does post! I have 3 and all of them post securely. The thing is that the first few times you post the cup you'll have to push it a bit harder and give it a twist while doing so. In no time your pen will post securely without much effort.

    On balance, I like the Wing Sung 630 better, but that's on yours and other reviews not on any actual ownership evidence. I think there are some similarities, but the overall dimensions of the Wing Sung 630 and that nib tip the scale for me. As you note, pick either one, you wouldn't lose out. I have a Jinhao X850 (sure it's cartridge converter) that I would liken to the Majohn P136 in overall dimensions and an X159 I'd liken to the Wing Sung 630. I do like both, but I'd easily go for the piston filler Wing Sung 630.
