Just found this Monte I drove in 1965 Ford Lotus Cortina but crashed 500 miles from Monte. See me drinking coffee with Dennis Pratt/other drivers (video time@230) Great times. I filmed Paddy Hopkirk in 1964 Monte he won from Minsk for ITN
I'd forgotten completely about the Allard Anglias.. Marvelous. Remember Vic Elford in a Lotus anglia on one RAC too before the Lotus Cortina the following year.

Great video - thank you very much for posting. So the history isn't deleted by BMW afterall :-) The Mini's racing and rally history is unmentioned at the car in GranTurismo 5 for playstation... it is even fitted with a German flag!!! Blasphemy I say!
No sign or mention of the second placed Porsche 904 Carrera GTS. So a bit of air brushing of history in this puff piece. Less impressed with the results after I heard of the previous years handicapping system that removed the victory the Ford Falcon Sprint cars out of a win after completing most stages first.
@@TheLRiderEasily checked by a search for Monte Carlo Rally 1965 will show a check Wikipedia and ewrc results . So a pretty thorough job has been done of erasing the Porsche 904 result. They even spell Porsche correctly as a guide how reliable they were
Must also remember the 1966 stich up on lighting that robbed the British cars of victory in the men's and women's rally. Shock horror a French Citroen won, the driver Pauli Toivenen was so disgusted that he refused to go up to collect the winners trophy.
Most of the British cars in the sixties were bloody awful unreliable rusty cold uncomfortable low performance , I have no fond memories of sixties automobiles .
I had a 1071 Cooper S that was far from low performance. Then I went and bought a 1275 equivalent and drove it across most of Europe Sweden, Denmark , Holland, Germany, France, Spain Italy. Switzerland, Austria and Monaco and never missed a beat but I maintained mine properly. Most folks think service intervals are there just to ignored then they blame the cars. Much better blaming others apparently. Common disease by now ofcourse..
What a great selection of drivers and navigators. In the days when everyone was friendly.
I owned a 1966 morris mini stationed in england at that time they were wonderfully made.
Fantastic! I wanna go back to that time I was not even born!
Anyone who as driven one will know a Mini is the greatest car to drive.
no matter what the video is or what we like that is History and thank u for reminding us.
Mini Cooper for ever.

Imagine this music & commentary for the broadcast of a 2014 Rally, would be gold!
Fantasticclip! Harry Källström, Ove Andersson RIP..
Stuart Turner, BMC's and later Fords team manager states in his book "Twice Lucky" that Timo's win is the greatest rally drive he has ever known.
Heel mooi om deze orginelen film te zien
Prawdziwa przygoda w tak spartańskich autach, ale to właśnie dodaje smaczku imprezie.

De sitter och kör i slips och kostym, men utan hjälmar och annan skyddsutrustning! Awesome!
Love the length of this film 9.48 . Shame it couldn't of been twelve minutes and seventy five seconds .
I see what you did there.
I JUST LOVED IT
well, spending a lot less than on a BMW mini will still be enough to get yourself a nice road going mini !
No helmets, rollcages, or special stages. My, how things have changed!
No one used their headlights back then??

No worries on engine overheating
57 years on and I doubt that any top drivers sign in at the start smoking a ciggie lol - how time have changed lol
