Sung Won: I have no cooking talent.
Mom: That's true
The kind of roast only a parent can do.
His knife grip and general technique actually made me quite nervous. No protection for the fingies
@@liamness Nah, when you're going that slow, there's nothing to worry about as long as whatever you're cutting lies flat on the board. He even stopped when he got to the last one because he didn't have room for a proper grip. It would be more worrying if he was trying to cut the whole onion in half, or cut a radish or carrot in half across the diameter.
I knew someone would point that out! 😂
it was extremely apparent he was telling the truth when he started cutting
ProZD channel really is old school UA-cam in spite of everything. Minimal edits/cuts/production, uploading all sorts of content to the singular main channel, no clickbait thumbnails.
Ethoslab too lol
How sweet that she let her son on the show!!
ikr ✨️
5 lbs Pork Belly
1 onion, sliced
4 green onions, diced
1 tblsp minced garlic
Mix together:
1 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
2/3 cup sugar or any sweetener
2/3 cup soy sauce
2/3 cup chili powder
1/3 cup sesame oil
1/3 cup cooking wine (optional)
Massage sauce into meat, onions, and garlic with gloved hands. Mix well.
Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Someone should pin this
So it's not stir fried??
@@ddobrien1 The stir fried it later for sure, you wouldnt want raw pork and onions. But they skipped that step in the vid.
@@ddobrien1I think it is, but they didn’t show how they cooked it in the video.
@@ddobrien1 pretty sure they just didn't show the stir frying step
“1/3 cooking wine. If you don’t have it, don’t put it.”
“Then why are we putting it?”
“Because we have it.”
Yup. That is how it be.
I guess it's not that necessary. In my experience the wine helps get rid of the porks smell. But the powerful Jang in this case would mask the pork anyway.
Sometimes if we don't have wine we just use soda or do a quick rinse with salt
These cooking vids with mom make my soul happy.
So wholesome
That's why I like Korean food so much. It has more Seoul
There should be a series where Sung Won gets taught a recipe by his mom, and then she watches him try to recreate it later but without interfering to see if he can do it
Yes
i can relate when you ask about certain things in rapid succession and mom is just like "stop it"
In case anyone's wondering about the actual stir-frying part; put everything in a deep & wide pan, and cook'em in MEDIUM heat, stirring the whole thing up every now and then for overall consistency.
Serve it in a dish when you see a little blackening on the meat.
Should you use relatively fatty meat like how Mama Cho did with pork belly, hot oil could be splattering out of the pan if you heat the pan up too much.
너무 맛있는 정석 레시피 잘봤어요 어머님 ㅎㅎ
The collabs with your mom are so charming because she doesn't have UA-camr workflow. I'm not a real UA-camr but whenever I record myself, I do multiple takes constantly because my tongue tripped or I just don't like the way I said something, and I know actual UA-camrs do that even more. So seeing her (relatively) unedited cooking process is so refreshing. It's fun to watch a skilled video artist and a skilled cook blend their skills like this!
SUNGWON I AM ON MY HANDS AND KNEES BEGGING YOU FOR MORE OF MAMA CHO PLEASE SHE IS SO WHOLESOME AND ADORABLE
Dude relax 😂
Not to me.
You need to visit asylum.
Youre broken.
Cooking wine adds acidity and also helps extracting aromatic compounds that are soluble in alchool
The alcohol is cooked out of it too if I'm not mistaken.
@caiden3396 you are not!
The cooking wine used in the video is almost definitely mirim (or mirin if you're Japanese), which doesn't provide acidity. If anything, it has a bit of a natural sweetness to it. That said, it does indeed help extract aromatic compounds, and it's mainly used for that property, like Sungwon's mom said. It has a dual purpose of removing smelly meat smells and also bringing out more flavor by making the dish more aromatic.
That said, even if you just used whatever dry red or white cooking wine you had, the dish would probably turn out great. Maybe not red though. A dry sherry would probably work fine.
@Chillaxorita
Not to troll, but I want to ask if perhaps you meant it provides "sweetness" as opposed to "sourness" ?
Mirim is mildly acidic (and parts sweetness, yes) so it reads oddly to me that you contrast acidity with sweetness.
@@Chillaxorita mirin is mildly acidic with a pH around 4.0, so I stand by what I wrote. when you marinade and cook with it you do it for the tenderizing effect it has on meat, and to help developing the spices’ flavors, not much for adding sweetness to the sauce. For that there’s sugar or fruit
Theres something incredibly soothing about seeing a parent teach their child how to cook.
The SungWon sass really added a whole new layer to these cooking videos. It’s great
Should I assume that every Korean household has an ice cream tub of gochujang? xD
Maybe not every Korean household, but I do have one 😂
Mama Cho: "One tablespoon of garlic."
SungWon: "That looks more than--"
*Mama Cho ads the garlic into the bowl*
SungWon: "Oh, okay. Yeah."
Mama Cho: "Looks more, that's fine."
SungWon: "Mhm..."
Always nice you can get together with your parent and do these kinds of things.
Your mom is so patient and kind to you, I love these videos with her!!
Mom: Gochujang. What is Gochjuang in English?
Camera: Gochujang...?
(chili paste)
0:52 "if it's too long, you cut in half"
"how do you know if it's too long?"
"well cause it's going off the cutting board"
GOT EM🗣
love how your encouraging your mom is about just trying. cut sizes doesn’t matter, skill or timing doesn’t matter, just try and learn. 💜
Now I see where Senshi got all his cooking skills from! 😀
seeing you learn how to cook from your mom is so wholesome
"how do you know if it's too long?"
Sungwon has conditioned me to say "when it's the height of his friends Jay and/or Steve" to that question
My spouse saw this last night, and now we've just finished a delicious dinner of pork and beef bulgogi (with plenty left over for later). Absolutely delicious, thank you for the inspiration Sungwon.
5:08 SungWon keep asking mama Cho the same question
5:34 SungWon the mixing master
7:29 mama Cho giggles (adorable)
Loving this version where you and your mom cook. There's laughter, a bit of nagging (the aigoo jinja hit the ❤), and so much fun
2:24 Sung Won: Those look too thick
Mama Cho: That's okay
Sung Won: That's not okay, I have to eat this later
It *is* okay though!
As someone who's cooked since I was 10, cutting my onions perfectly is never something I stress over--let alone while you're still learning about the basics! I'd focus on cooking temperature, flavor, and avoiding food-borne illness. I love these videos, and definitely feel like your mom knows her way around the kitchen 👩🍳
Some cooks like to be precise and craft that perfect meal, but others know to go for good enough, especially if you're just trying to a meal on the table. I think cooking is just about giving it a good shot, having something to eat, and cooking with mama cho 😋
This brother is the goat and deserves all his flowers. God bless you and your family! Thank you for the wholesome video friend!😀
Sneeky refelction of Papa Sungwon
Pretty sure the meal got a S Rank. I love these videos so much!
I like that even at almost 4 min subs ProZD is still as humble and wholesome as at 18k when I started watching him.
These videos are so wholesome 🥺
This is the greatest ProZD series of all time
Hell yeah I get to learn a new recipe today!
SungWon teasing his mom with prodding questions and her just being like 'stop' is so cute, also him caring about getting ti right because he's the one that has to eat it later lmao 😭
Love the cooking videos with your mom! Thank you for sharing this with us, it looks delicious!!!
Channeling his inner Senshi lol

This is making me want to cook bulgogi too now!
Also tell your dad (?) Great camera work!
I think thats his brother..
영어도잘하시고 한국말도잘하시고 요리도잘하시고!!!! 성원님도 아들이고!! 대단하십니다
My man really posted a cooking video and skipped the cooking part. Guess I'll try raw marinated pork later this week.

I love the Cooking With Mama Cho into with the cute picture of her with the frying pan. This series is really getting me interested in cooking Korean food!
This brings me so much joy 😊
Mama Cho is a gem, thank you both for sharing this recipe!
Your mom is absolutely adorable
I like how with editing away the cooking part it went straight from mixing goop to eating raw pork belly
I just got back from visiting my folks back home, stuff like this is priceless!
I'm only just now watching these Mama Cho videos and now I have to watch them all
I'm gonna make this at some point, thanks for the recipe 👌🏽
I need to make this so badly. It looks so good.
I bet your mom really appreciated getting to spend that time together. Also, I really liked seeing how the sauce was made. I love condiments.
I love these videos ❤
one of my favorite dishes growing up, my Dad was station in Korea so he had a taste for Korean and we would go out for it a lot. Once I got into spicy foods, I fell in love with this.
It looks really good!!
Made this for tea tonight, it was delicious. Thanks Mama Cho for the recipe!

어으 저녁시간인데 제육 진짜 침고이네요 ㅜㅜ 미쳤다
Maangchi ProZD's Mom colab when?
love these recipes!
Binging ProZD while waiting 30 minutes in queue for Dota2 is more satisfying than playing the game. 😅
I'll have to try making this sometime! I can make beef bulgogi and tteokbokki but I've been kind of too intimidated to try making any other Korean dishes. This one looks very easy and tasty though!
I LOVE HER SHE'S SO PURE
5:28 I saw that 아이 진짜 coming from a mile away😭 the Korean experience
When are we going to get "Ranking Every Spicy Pork Bulgogi I find from Korean moms in my neighborhood"? Make your mom work for your affection, dammit!

The content we deserve
제육볶음 Jeyuk Bokkeum is one of my favorite Korean foods. I always go to the traditional marketplace in my neighborhood in Korea and buy it in bulk from my favorite store.
More content like this, please! :)
mmm the final result looks so yummy!!
"if you don't have it, don't put it, you don't need to put it" "then why are you putting it" "because we have it, oh my goodness"
