Personally, I wouldn't do it on my JK but hey, it's yours and you do you. Don't listen to the haters. They don't pay for your Jeep or house or food so who cares what they say if they don't like it?
I love the DIY wrangler stuff. I just took the plastic off my 07 JK bumper and primed and bedlinered it and am waiting for it to dry to put it back on.
Looks great. I actually thought about doing this before I spent money on the metal ones, but in the end decided I could sell the intact oem fenders for more than the metal ones cost. So I decided against it. But nice job!
Looks really good. especially with the moulding! Wish i could do that here... unfortunately our state requires fenders to cover the tires for inspection. :(
I cut the ones on my TJ. I liked it at first, but ended up regretting it. Before I sold it, I replaced them with some factory flares I bought on Craiglists.
That corrugated upper rim of the front wheel well liner is very pronounced now. Should probably trim that off. I have aftermarket flat fender flares that make use of the stock liner and I had to trim back the liner accordingly.
Everyone's got an opinion, but it's your Jeep. I say do what you like to it. N ot my cup of tea, but to hell with the haters. I read about 50% of the comments and had to stop...just silly nonsense. Thumbs upfrom me just for you being a good sport about it.
I like the idea of doing this though it's illegal in many states to have your tires stick past your fender. I'd make the fender flat but keep it wide enough to cover the tires. Thanks for the idea and tips though.
I hope you checked with the Police on the amount of tire that can be legally sticking out? You'll need to find a way of hiding that support structure. I'd try cutting just the sides of those supports at an angle then heat up the uncut plastic, bending it to cover the opening and super glue on. Add filler and sand to hide edges and seams. Paint to match (rattle can?).
I love jeeps, especially the wrangler but i prefer the wrangler unlimited because its more popular and looks a bit cooler but all wranglers are so manly and raw and theyre very good on and off road and theyre very popular in america and out and theyre really nice looking and really good with modifications
Nice. Can't do that here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts. They fail you for a vehicle inspection if the tires stick out past fenders or fender flares.
M Borrego hey man kinda random here but I have a 3.5 lift and 35s as well but idk how it would look with flat flares. If there's any way you show me a picture of yours that he much appreciated man. Take care
I mean the metal bumpers look cool and all but these don’t really look any different and they are lighter and like you said they flex and they’re wicked cheap to replace if your brake one I personally think a lot of the aftermarket is very expensive. My brother just spent $500 For a bumper for his ex J but it also had a spare tire carrier. What we realized after getting it was that it’s a basic bumper that has been reinforced with some cheap bushings and a sleeve put on there and a cheap spare tire carrier. I told him we should’ve just welded together our own deal but anyways that’s besides the point. All this aftermarket stuff is way too expensive compared to us being able to just make it ourselves so touché to your video, you have inspired me to cut up my own fenders.
Jeepindude_01 are you talking about the inner fender liner or the fender support, the plastic piece under neath it? If you are talking about the support piece under the fender just cut it shorter. I've actually since removed mine and as far as the fender liner goes I have the ACE engineering fender liners.
I like your jeep. I'm in Colorado too, got a 2016 sport unlimited. I've done a lot to it, just got 4.88 and a rear ARB air locker running Nitto 35's. These 4.88's are a big difference. Have you gotten gears yet?
Daniel Rotenberg yeah just trying to figure out if I'm going 40s or not because if that's so I'm just going to start saving for Dana 60s instead of wasting money on building my Dana 44s
Daniel Rotenberg as long as you have c gussets upper and lower it will be alright. There actually isn't much difference between the 30 and the 44 on the front because the front 44 isn't a true Dana 44 like the rear one is
This is so great! The only thing I'm worried about is the light attached the the outside of the fender flare. It looks like you didn't care much for it so maybe there's not too much of a purpose to have it, but future thinking it would bother me just knowing I cut it off. And suggestions on why it shouldn't matter? P.s. this is the second video of yours I've seen. Already love your channel! 😄
I love your channel man. My name is Christian and I am 17 and Im about to get my first JKU and your videos have really inspired me. Im so excited to get a JKU and be apart of such a large group of people. Do you have a good starter lift kit and a good starter wheel and tire size that would be good. I want to run 35s and at least 3.5inches. Thank you so much!
ThePhillyRaptor thanks man! I will say the Jeep family is one of the best. I went with the Evo Mfg which is a little pricier, but well worth it. If you want to save some money up front you could just get a 2.5 inch spacer lift, trim your fender flares and run 35s. That's what the 2 door runs in my other videos and it does just fine.
Granted, I'm not paying for mine entirely, but I got a 2007 2 door at a steal for about 13k with just under 80k miles when I got it. I was just turning 16. My dad has paid most of it thus far but I will take over soon once I get a steadier pay (since I'm only getting minimum at the moment).
Nick Fort from the side on the front fenders you can see what use to be the underneath part of the stock fender bulging out. I’d say that looks goofy as hell.
Hi! Hope all is well in TX. I'm working up the courage to cut my fenders as well soon. What do you do about that skeleton corrugated looking plastic under the fender? It's showing when the fenders get trimmed and looks ugly. How do you remedy that, or can you or are you just stuck with that??? Thanx much!!!
You should have left them as they were. If you cut back too much (like you did) and/or your cut back the "roll" over the front of the front fender flare, you show off the ugly support skeleton underneath. There's also nothing holding the front flares on because of the way they clip on and would otherwise held in place by the rivets that hold in the well liners. At highway speeds, you risk having the front fender flares blow off. What you need to do if you decide to cut back factory flares is to put a single (or double) elevator bolt to hold the flares down onto the support skeleton.
hey I'm sure its been asked before but what tire and spacer combo are you running not he stock wheels on the jeep? I just noticed your running the stock wheels but bigger tires and x amount of lift. can you fill me iron these mods please
Seems like cutting these fenders made you ditch your jeep. LOL I was going to ask how the door trim stuff held up for ya, but looks like you got rid of the jeep within a year or so. Anyone that watches this AND reads, round your corners. Dont do angles. Heres why, more often than not they that trim will buckle at any hard turns. This allow moisture in there and relieves the adhesive of its stickiness. And we all know what that means. Thanks Yall Oh, and dig the racecars!! Be safe out there.
I don't like them. I mean they looked better after the first cut. The largest issue I have with them is my broken windshield now that you have nothing keeping your rocks off your tires to yourself.
bn12151 thank you! I haven't done anything yet, but I am going to get a pair of small 7/8" turn signals and drill a hole near the fender liner and run them through there.
I was thinking about running some Rubi wheels as well, really like the look. DId you have to use spacers to get the correct offset for the big wheels? I am using 37"s as well but only 12.50 wide.
Nato Potato that breed can have spiked ears or floppy ears like his other dog has. The bandages are for the ears to stand straight up like a Doberman pinscher or a great dane
Gotta ignore all those haters you do what you want to do to your jeep
Jeep Milk agreed!
WOOHOO! thats the spirit
Josh Phillips thanks Josh!
TSAP 17 effing A
All those haters are Ford divers!
For a no cost job, absolutely impressed. Wouldn’t pay attention to the others, I own a TJ and anyone’s build is a good build. We stay a family.
Jeeps are great I love my 98 TJ you can do whatever you want to long as you like it that's all that matters
Point aside, I love that you still use the Rubicon wheels!
George Leyva haha thanks George!
The narrow ones I don't think look to good in my opinion. I wanna get the standard with fenders like that
Looks great. I actually thought about doing this before I spent money on the metal ones, but in the end decided I could sell the intact oem fenders for more than the metal ones cost. So I decided against it. But nice job!
guessguy209 that’s a good point
Looks sweet dude, clean af. Much better than those stock seagull wings most guys are rocking.
Barefootloose Style nice. I still like them so far, so we will see.
That corrugated upper rim of the front wheel well liner is very pronounced now. Should probably trim that off. I have aftermarket flat fender flares that make use of the stock liner and I had to trim back the liner accordingly.
invidious07 I actually took those off after. Looks much better now.
Great job looks fantastic, I love customizing. That's what makes it stand out in a crowd ,one of a kind and all yours .Thanks for Sharing. Dale
I wouldn't go as narrow as you did, but do like the cut look, so might look to do something like you had when you began this vid
Joshua Semer That’s exactly what I did. Cut off the edge of the fender but not as narrow and went with Synergy 1.75 wheel spacers. Looks perfect 👌
Everyone's got an opinion, but it's your Jeep. I say do what you like to it.
N ot my cup of tea, but to hell with the haters.
I read about 50% of the comments and had to stop...just silly nonsense.
Thumbs upfrom me just for you being a good sport about it.
Vas Def hah thanks I try and blow it off
I like the idea of doing this though it's illegal in many states to have your tires stick past your fender. I'd make the fender flat but keep it wide enough to cover the tires. Thanks for the idea and tips though.

T'airn'KA they are pretty lenient here. I ended up taking out the support structure, but yes you can just trim that back.
Im loving your lawn man. I guess you're livin up to the dirt every day shit
Ryan because that's relevant
It looked good before you started
Looks good man, haters gonna hate. Keep up the solid videos. What size tires are you running on the stock wheels and are you running spacers?
Great videos man. I just got pretty much the same jeep and was looking at the enforcer lift so it's cool to see how it will come out.
Andy Thomas thank you! You won't be disappointed with the enforcer. It rides far better than stock.
Like the build man keep it up hopefully mine will be up on your level one day
Jake Ostman thanks Jake! You'll get there.
They fail you for a vehicle inspection if the tires stick out past fenders or fender flares.
coillmor then get wider flares then take em off after the inspection
Love it, my friend! What size tires are you working with? Thinking about sizing up, and I'm curious how far up I should go.
Jordan Carlson thanks Jordan! I'm on 37s with a 4" lift.
i cut mine about as much as you did the 1st time and got offset 35's. they stick out a lot and look great with 3.5"lift. its perfect
M Borrego nice!
M Borrego hey man kinda random here but I have a 3.5 lift and 35s as well but idk how it would look with flat flares. If there's any way you show me a picture of yours that he much appreciated man. Take care
trey michel sure thing. email? or how else?
M Borrego yeah man that's fine treymichel51@gmail.com
David Van Voris can you tell me a little about your lift and tire setup? I have a stock 2010 and I like the look you have going there.
I mean the metal bumpers look cool and all but these don’t really look any different and they are lighter and like you said they flex and they’re wicked cheap to replace if your brake one I personally think a lot of the aftermarket is very expensive. Do you have a problem with rocks flying up and hitting your paint and windows?
cool mod ....looks good ...especially if you want your jeep to have a more aggressive look to it but dont have the money for metal fenders
JK XTC thanks and agreed!
That skeleton on the front looks horrible though. And what about side blinkers are they not required in your state?
Great idea, any idea for cleaning up the inner fender so as not to have them show from the side?
Jeepindude_01 are you talking about the inner fender liner or the fender support, the plastic piece under neath it? If you are talking about the support piece under the fender just cut it shorter. I've actually since removed mine and as far as the fender liner goes I have the ACE engineering fender liners.
If you don’t mind me asking, what is the paint on the fenders? Thanks!
Looks mint good job
How did the new dremel bit work? Going to do mine soon and was wondering what bit to use. Great vid!
Jason Snyder worked out great. Definitely get the diamond wheel!
Perfect will do! Thanks for the quick response! Subscribed!
Jason Snyder much appreciated!
I like your jeep. I'm in Colorado too, got a 2016 sport unlimited. I've done a lot to it, just got 4.88 and a rear ARB air locker running Nitto 35's. These 4.88's are a big difference. Have you gotten gears yet?
Daniel Rotenberg nice! I haven't yet, but I'm most likely going with 5.13s.
Nice, that's awesome. I figured you would go up to 5.13 running those 37's
Daniel Rotenberg yeah just trying to figure out if I'm going 40s or not because if that's so I'm just going to start saving for Dana 60s instead of wasting money on building my Dana 44s
David Van Voris 60's would be super nice. You think my 30 up front and 44 back would be ok for 37's?
Daniel Rotenberg as long as you have c gussets upper and lower it will be alright. There actually isn't much difference between the 30 and the 44 on the front because the front 44 isn't a true Dana 44 like the rear one is
What kind of tires do you have on those stock rims ? Looks good.
TheBenandZacShow Cooper discoverer stt pro
Did you trim the boxer's ears with the dremel as well? Like both the Jeep and the boxer.
We got rain in the rest of the states
Not only JK..this is a great mod for TJ. And YJ.
Ana Fierro thanks for watching! There are small led lights (I think 7/16) in size that you can do very easily. I will make a video soon on that.
Awesome! Will totally be waiting for that!
Great tip papa. Looks great
I love your channel man. My name is Christian and I am 17 and Im about to get my first JKU and your videos have really inspired me. How can a 17 year old afford a JKU? I'm impressed. I could only afford a old Grand Cherokee when I was 18.
DOABlam I bought my 2008 wrangler almost a year ago at 18. Was a steal for 12K but I did buy it with 100K miles on it.
Great video man. Thanks for the idea 👌
Type G thank you and you are welcome! I will be dropping more vids that will hopefully help.
What tires are you running and did you use spacers. I would love to keep my wheels like you did
Old video but Cooper Stt pros with spacers check my other jeep videos I mention it
I have a silver Sahara, so the fenders are also silver. Do they make the molding in different colors or only black?
what did you do about the steel brace under the front fender?
Jacob Deem still there. Most likely going to cut it off
I read the tires are 37"x13.5r17 on stock rims which look great . Can you tell me what size lift you have on the Wrangler?
dave M thanks! It's a 4"
Why are people being such assholes? Its his car, his money, and it looks fine? 🙄
Do you recommend that diamond dremel wheel? Looking to trim mine soon.
yes! It is worth the money. The other wheels do not last at all! I went through 2 packs of wheels cutting mine the first time.
Imo it looked better before you cut them!
old12school3 personal preference
I meant the second time you cut them!
idk I just think it looks goofy. You do you though. Maybe swap in a manny as well.
Ben Gjerde how does it look goofy lol
Nick Fort from the side on the front fenders you can see what use to be the underneath part of the stock fender bulging out. I’d say that looks goofy as hell.
BYE BYE Paint, especially on the R/panels
Looks good. I wish you show how you did the first cut.
Docgohard Corpsman thanks! Google Project jk flat fender mod and a really good write up with pics will come up
Thanks and everything is going great! You can trim that back or take it out! If you do take it out your fenders will sag a little bit. Good luck!
You did a good job cutting it. I would never try it. lol
Do led headlights and taillights.
Alan Shcherb eventually the head lights
looked awesome before just saying but too each his own right
Are these the stock fenders ?
How you like the coopers? how are they going in the mud?
holeshot53 best tire in my opinion right now
my 1st choice is the pitbull rockers, but they are freakin expensive in canada. the coopers have similar threads, just less agressive!
holeshot53 pitbulls are not good for daily driving
man that looks good
Economy 9015 thank you!
Did you use a dremel for all your cuts from stock till present and what blades. I don’t wanna buy a jigsaw if I don’t gotta
Kelii Au Hoon yes I did. Never used a jigsaw
wow looks awesome! great job
Sandy Mitchell thank you!
You should have left them as they were. DeathScouter you should make a video of your own. Writing this on someone else’s video isn’t helpful.
Are you using wheel spacers with your stock rims?
I was wondering same thing
I support it don’t mind those haters
Isaiah Dubose thanks!
Looks dope
Juno Wilson thank you!
Looks good bro
Sean Knight thank you! Appreciate the comment.
Your jeep looks sweet...and familiar. Are you on any forums?
A Normal Guy thanks! I have a build thread on wayalife.
Fuck I thought so. I'm Catahoula. Your videos are very entertaining.
A Normal Guy haha oh yeah I've seen you on there, I'm on there as vanv39
hey I'm sure its been asked before but what tire and spacer combo are you running not he stock wheels on the jeep? I just noticed your running the stock wheels but bigger tires and x amount of lift. can you fill me iron these mods please
37x13.5 Cooper STT PRO with Poison Spidey 1.5" wheel spacer. 4" Evo lift.
What's that crap hanging under the front fenders?
Bill Fowler it's the support. I removed mine, but you can trim it
How's this a best free mod?
Seems like cutting these fenders made you ditch your jeep. LOL
I was going to ask how the door trim stuff held up for ya, but looks like you got rid of the jeep within a year or so.
Anyone that watches this AND reads, round your corners. Dont do angles. Heres why, more often than not they that trim will buckle at any hard turns. This allow moisture in there and relieves the adhesive of its stickiness. And we all know what that means.
Thanks Yall
Oh, and dig the racecars!!
Be safe out there.
Bad ass keep bro I just got a 2 door jk
With that much fender taken off would this not make it not road legal? +David Van Voris
Efrain Suarez II check with your local laws. Cops are lenient here, but I know in other states they are not.
David Van Voris Agreed. I can guarantee that here in New Yorkistan The NYSP and NYPD are not. Cool video +David Van Voris
Efrain Suarez II evo makes some quick release mud flaps
Do u need inner liners for Jeep flairs or can u keep it exposed?
MitsubishiEvo10mr it’s up to you but I ran ace inner fender liners
David Van Voris ok I was just wondering if any thing would get damaged if I didn’t
Hey, what kind of inner fender liners do you have on the front?
Ace
Love what you did with your jeep, that's a huge upgrade.
I'm giving a thumbs up for the boxers alone. Love me some nubby dogs!
Matt haha thanks Matt!
I don't like them. I mean they looked better after the first cut. The largest issue I have with them is my broken windshield now that you have nothing keeping your rocks off your tires to yourself.
I like it Bro!
No lie when I first saw the flairs I would have thought u bought them from an aftermarket company.
Great video thank u
That’s illegal in my state of NH
what tires of these if they fit stock rims?
looks good!
Jeep Accessories GTA thank you!
You rock man 👍🏼
T J thank you! Miss this Jeep
great instruction, looks great!
Brett Stevens thanks Brett!
What did you do with the side marker lights on the front fender? Sorry if the is has been asked before.
thats2odd not running them currently, but I will add some shortly
You just hid the harness then? I am about to perform these steps just want my ducks in a row. :) wanted to add on painted fenders.
thats2odd no worries! Yes I just zip tied the plug up and out of the way
Jeep looks great! Thanks for the advice.
thats2odd thanks! Good luck!
Looks good
What did you do about your side marker lights?...Great video!
bn12151 thank you! I haven't done anything yet, but I am going to get a pair of small 7/8" turn signals and drill a hole near the fender liner and run them through there.
Do your front fenders flop around going 60 mph? I noticed you didn't runt a nut and bolt through them to keep it from happening.
Chuck Heinbaugh I did the first time, but I cut them shorter the second time around so I didn't need to
Fuck The Haters. He can do what He wants to his Jeep.
Kaiden Stark thanks Kaiden!
What kind of tires are those ?
Zariah Harris Cooper STT pro
thanks
Is the size a 22?
Zariah Harris wheel is 17 so 37x13.5r17
I was thinking about running some Rubi wheels as well, really like the look. DId you have to use spacers to get the correct offset for the big wheels? I am using 37"s as well but only 12.50 wide.
Why no manual? I love my jku manual, only way to go for me! Love your channel!
Thank you. It is a lot easier to wheel with an auto. Just personal preference. I've owned plenty of manual vehicles.
Messed up your dog and your jeep...nice two-fer!
Genkiba right
Where you at in Colorado ?
EzEddie I was in Elizabeth/Parker area but I'm in Texas now
Front fenders on the JK are ugly compared to past iterations. this is quite tasteful, nice work
T Del Wow, thanks for that! Appreciate it!
Wow good job it looks cool
zach bourque thanks Zach!
What is wrong with that dogs ears, did it got hurt or something.
Nato Potato that breed can have spiked ears or floppy ears like his other dog has. The bandages are for the ears to stand straight up like a Doberman pinscher or a great dane
