I never watched HIMYM finale. No I didn't ❤️
HIMYM ended with 9x22 and these two are still happily married and in love, you can't change my mind!
(It's such a shame tho because 9x23-24 had some gems such as Ted/Tracy's first interaction but the rest? BYE.)
Seriously, I'm still bitter the finale is a thing, you can't build up a wedding for three seasons and literally make the whole last season about their wedding weekend to have them d*vorce and destroy years of individual character developments (for Barney, Robin and Ted) in one half of an episode???
But somehow during lockdown, I rewatched most of HIMYM (and not just a few scenes) w. my sister and it reminded me how much I loved this TV show (until 9x22). The story, the character arcs, the CHEMISTRY with the three main couples... I watched it while it was still airing and Swarkes were just soooo in love. they're one of my fave otps.
I doubt this edit will get views/comments since this show ended years ago but I still wanted to edit them to this music! (it's the first time I'm editing them in six years, that's how bad the ending was...)

That was endgame but we get to see pass that and see Tracy die, Ted has kids, Lily and Marshall and Lily get old, Barney has a kid. The one thing this show taught me perfect don’t last forever but with love and hope you can find something beautiful through it all

Robin never cried for ted like for barney, people say she didn't give ted a chance before because she couldn't give him the family he wanted so much, but the truth is, she never loved him the same way she loved barney.
WRONG. In the beginning of season 3 it was shown that she cried every day for a while after she and Ted broke up, and the truth is that Ted was the man she truly wanted from the pilot to the finale.
That's why their marriage didn't even last 3 years?

Thats my headcanon too. Robin never loved Ted as much as Barney, it doesnt make sense (for me) :D I feel like she got together with Ted, realised a second after that it was a bad idea and moved with Barney to some far away island or something like that ;D

They were perfect for each other, they were both scared of commitment and sucked at relationships but they trusted each other enough to give love a chance and even thought hey failed at first they didn’t give up on each other, they just waited to be mature enough to try again because they knew it would work this time and it did. The writers clearly were not a bit aware of the powerful couple they’d created.
They truly were perfect for each other... They didn't work out together on the first try because they still had to work on their own issues and had to mature, as you said. And after years they finally managed to get the timing right too.
Swarkles wasn't supposed to happen, at least not in a long term relationship, but Neil and Cobie's chemistry was so strong that they use it in season 3. And the thing is, the writers wrote the ending of the show from the start (back to when the show started airing) but still kept it even if it didn't suit the characters' and relationships' evolutions anymore.
One of the main reasons explaining that ending is that Ted is partly based on one of the writers (while Marshall and Lily are partly based on the other writer and his wife). So basically, said writer self-inserted himself as Ted with Robin (yes, to this day, I'm still bitter about it).

Doesn't everyone deserve to be happy?” After everything they went through and everything relationships they had they realized they made each other the happiest and no matter how sweet and caring their partners were they still had feelings for each other. I mean I don’t blame Ted for going after robin for 9 years because let’s me honest she’s extremely beautiful but deep down he knew she’d be happier with Barney. The only way I’m able to keep my life going is to pretend they never got divorced and that Tracy didn’t die lol

I liked Ted and Robin until Barney fell in love with Robin. When Swarkles kissed, I thought that they were better than Ted and Robin. I didn't know how to explain. Now I realise that was chemistry. Neil and Cobie were perfect.🎶

I just finished watching the HIMYM series for the first time and am so disappointed with the last two episodes. I refuse to accept the finale bc Barney and Robin were so perfect for each other. Their characters changed so much throughout the seasons and I refuse to believe that they weren’t endgame. And I refuse to believe that the whole series was all about how Ted met Tracy and still ended up with Robin. Yes, I loved Robin and Ted together when they were dating but Barney and Robin were absolutely perfect for each other. They both were afraid of commitment and never wanted to get married until they fell for each other, and I just cannot accept Barney’s character development being thrown away in the last two episodes. Barney and Robin are still happily married to me, because it’s what they deserved.

They are endgame. God I’m so happy they ended up together. I read that she was initially supposed to end up with Ted after killing Tracy off. I’m so glad the writers knew how stupid that was and decided to scrape it. These two were perfect together and I am so happy that they had their happy ending.
I binge-watched the show for the first time last week... going in of course I knew that the finale was considered one of the worst in television history (it's impossible not to know, unless you have been living under a rock), a fact that actually kept me from watching the show for a long time...but I was in the mood for something light and funny, so I took the plunge anyway... boy, am I regretting it!
I truly loved the show up until 9x22... and I fell head over heels in love with Barney&Robin, they became one of my favourite fictional couples ever (and I've watched more than 300 shows in my life) . I loved them so much...only for the show to slap me in the face like that at the end. I cried so much, and I'm still hurting... I can't imagine how hard it must have been for the fans who watched the show week after week as it was airing, for 9 years... what a fucking waste of 9 seasons of developments.
Anyway, sorry for the essay, but I kinda had to vent somewhere! This video is amazing, masterfully put together, and it made me cry all over again. Now I'll go and rewatch it.
Omg I have the story ! I binge watched himym a few months ago and going in I already had a little idea of what the ending was gonna be like and how it is considered among the worst sitcom endings of all time. I thought I was prepared and it wouldn’t hurt me as much because I knew what was coming. But oh boy did it hurt ! I got so emotionally invested in this show and especially in Barney and Robin. I haven’t been so attached to a fictional couple in a long time. By the time we reached the end it was unbearable for me to watch. I had to take a break from binge watching; came back two weeks later barely skimmed through the last two episodes. Will never watch those two episodes again in my life.
But no matter what the broadcast ending I think Barney and Robin( or Swarkles...) were in fact endgame in a way that they live in the hearts of fans forever. They live on because the fans love them and remember them and want to keep them alive in their memories. Quite a feat for a pairing that was an unplanned experiment and ended up being the most popular couple of the show.

I love Barney and robin but hate Ted and robin. I think Ted idealized the image he had of robin. He wanted a mother for his kids, and someone he can give his love to in his way. Robin didn’t need that way of being loved. There were situations she needed teds help as a friend, like every time she feels bad and he does smth to cheer her up. Anyways, everything Ted does for her is mentioned a hundred times but the things Barney does for her are always mentioned in one episode only. Also I think the proposal had to be a seasons final, which it wasn’t. Maybe those things are line that because TED is telling the story to his kids. However, I think that Barney really loved robin. He gave up all he was to finally admit to himself and to everyone else that he was able to love and that he really wanted to be with that woman, no matter what. She was the great love of his life, the star in his sad, disappointing life that he claims is so amazing, when the only time you see him truly happy is when he is with robin. I never watch the end, because I think it’s cruel. Ted didn’t end up with his perfect woman, the one he’s been searching for his entire life, the mother of his children, and Barney didn’t end up with robin, the only woman he has ever really loved. Shitty end but still my favorite series
OMG here I am, like 6 years later and I'm STILL reeling from that ending fjkldsfjls. SWARKLES WAS/STILL IS EVERYTHING god, I forgot how much I love(d) HIMYM because the series finale always left a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Thank you for reminding me of the beauty and love in the show, and how much I adored the characters and their journeys throughout the seasons

I started watching HIMYM and I already knew Barney and Robin would eventually get divorced. I was ok with it as I thought Ted and Robin were meant to be together..after I watched the whole series and as I start to think of Barney's character after the last episode, honestly, they ruined him. Robin and Barney should've ended together. Tracy shouldn't have died..Out of all the people, Barney didn't deserve the end he got
