I assumed the hardware would sound the best, but on my end, Dolby Atmos had the overall best sound if you ask me. What did you think? I can't tell for sure, maybe the Creative SXFI did sound better? It's hard to tell, they're both just enough different that... one sounds warmer and clear and one sounds clearer but not as warm. Both sound good.
For me I cannot tell a difference between DTS or Atmos. I think SXFI definitely had the most noticeable soundstage but not sure if it was "better" just it has a wider dispersion

I'm researching this tech as I recently broke my hyperx orbit s cans which are audeze drivers with waves nx and they had the best positional audio in games i've ever heard. Never really had to think about it but what is the tech that drives such a thing? Is it the waves NX? I've currently got a pair of Fidelio X2HR's on the way. I've an X3 that i'm going to plug it into but I'm wondering if SXFI would be the best for directional audio of if Atmos or Waves would be better. I thought Atmos sounded the best in your examples. But i'm not sure for gaming. I have the link to the Waves NX download if you want it.
Oh ok so far I've not had much luck getting Waves NX to work without specific headphones like HyperX that have it built in. I think SXFI has the widest virtual soundstage for gaming. Atmos / DTS are virtually identical and sound better for movies imo
On Windows, you can get a 2 week free trial of Dolby Atmos and the same for DTS. You can experience ALL they each have to offer, nothing is held back by the 2 week trial versions. Give that a shot if you haven't chose. I ended up purchasing both of them lol. I just know they sound far, far better than Windows Spatial Audio did at the time.
